Hence my comment about getting all technical! I thought it was worth pointing out that it is possible to do it properly, albeit somewhat complicatedly.
One thing you should be aware of, when using redstone energy conduits, you lose 5% power every time energy goes in conduits. Tesseracts make you lose 25% energy. so if i had, say 100 mjs going in a tesseract, i'd only have 75 coming out.
In post 12447, Maestro wrote:1) We've always had a kindof, common sense limit PER CHUNKLOADER (I think 25 chunks for non-Ops, but only because Op's through Chunkloaders down for things like communal Mob Farms, etc.) and we've had a per-player limit of 2 Chunkloading machines since the first iteration of the FTB server (yes that include Quarries). Not sure how many follow it anymore, because we've been a bit lax in enforcing that rule...but most people don't NEED more than one or 2 to chunkload what they have.
2) Everything Claus said. Tesseract channels are fully configurable - you can have them set to public or private and you can have as many inputs and/or outputs on a channel that you want. I didn't know that they capped off at 100 MJ/t actually, but it's hardly likely whatever machine(s) you're powering will need TONS more power than that.
RE - Tanks: Xycraft tanks (technically the Xycraft Valve Block) are the only things I know of that actively even out the liquid between two Tanks. But I'm pretty sure PIPES will always try to do that, as long as it's the same liquid, obviously.
3) If your power usage is ever < your power production, Conductive Pipes will eventually contain the energy in a backlog and explode. As Claus says, Redstone Energy Conduits will not do this, and I believe they also stop drawing power from Redstone Energy Cells when there's nothing requesting power, but that could only be for Thermal Expansion machines.
If you ever think your MJ production will surpass your usage, you should look into the process of building Redstone Energy Cells. They are similar to the IndustrialCraft BatBox/MFE/MFSU except they contain Minecraft Joules and can output it when requested or what triggered. If you want a tutorial on Redstone Energy Cells, you could ask Oso, or build an Induction Smelter, Magma Crucible, and Liquid Transposer - all Thermal Expansion machines, the same you'd use to build a Tesseract - then come find me.
P-Edit: dappy, don't confuse the poor chap now. I think we're the only two on-server who EVER use Gates.
I understand logic gates. (A: thats what i learned at school for 6 weeks, B: I use for simple redstone machines, C: they're simple as fuck if you know binary and binary logic. I was goign to use some for my raiclraft integration with computercraft purely through redstone setup i was planning for the subway.

I just meant we were the only ones who commonly utilized them in everyday practice, not that we were the only ones who UNDERSTOOD HOW to use them.
P-Edit: *shrug* It's true, you all just never asked. Besides, if you're pumping Energy cross-dimensionally there's gonna be costs. And 5% per machine isn't NEARLY as bad as it sounds given all their awesome features and the fact that they don't decay energy over space, like Conductive Pipes.
hmmm.. It all sounds very involved. I don't know if I'll be setting up a centralized energy production system any time soon. For the extent of stuff I usually do, it's probably cheaper overall for me to just place an engine next to everything I need to power and only turn it on when I need it. Yeah, providing a small amount of MJ/t for my squeezer isn't going to make it produce seed oil very quickly, but I don't have a need to produce a shitton of seed oil quickly anyways. Just need a little bit here and there for building apiaries and possibly other forestry machines eventually.

i meant the tesseracts. i didn't know it incurred a loss.

Check the OP of this thread, dav
EDIT: totally willing to give this to izak or Maru, just thought the time was right for it to start being updated by somebody who's still involved in server activities *shrug*
