This game has ended. To see the final results/role pm's/night choices, please go here.
No Pressure Mafia, A game for Lurkers
Mafia is hard. Posting all the time is difficult. At No Pressure Mafia, we deal with all of those issues for you.
Maximum Post Restrictions:
Nobody wants or needs to post more than fifteen times in a game day, or more than twice in a real day. In fact, if you do, we'll modkill you!
Automatic Night Choices:
Forget to submit night choices? We'll do it for you.
Automatic mechanisms for ending the day:
Discussion lagging? If nobody posts for three days, we'll just call it a night and lynch whoever has the most votes. If somebody looks like he's going to be lynched, we'll do it for you.

Rules
: Influenced and possibly even adjusted from people like MeMe, Dragon Phoenix, and SaveTheDragons.
[1] Each day you may try to lynch somebody. If more than half the people alive at the beginning of the day are voting for somebody, that person will be lynched. You may choose to vote no lynch. See also the special rules.
[2] Please
bold
your votes and unvotes as in
vote: Thok
. I would appreciate it if you include the name of any person you unvote, but I do not require it.
[3] No talking outside the thread during the day. You may only talk outside the thread at night if it is part of your role.
[4] Do not edit your posts. Do not use code=black tags or size=normal tags. Do not hack into mafiascum's php code in order to install invistext or spoiler tags; moreover if somebody does so, do not use invistext or spoiler tags.
[5] Do not quote the mod. Do not fakequote the mod.
[6] Once you are dead, you are dead. You may post a simple "Bah!" post, but no game related content.
[7] Try to be relatively civil to each other. I know you're trying to kill each other, but that's no reason to insult somebody's mother.
[8] I am the mod, but I do occasionally make mistakes. (Shock! Dismay!) If you think I have made a mistake, please send me a PM, or post in the thread.
[9] See special rules for handling vote counts.
[10] I reserve the right to modkill at my discretion (above and beyond other rules). I don't plan on using this power unless something strange happens.
Special rules
(specific for this game).
1. I will try to post a vote count every day at 7:00 pm Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8 for those not in the US). For my purposes, a real day is the 24 hour period between when two consecutive vote counts would be posted. Each vote count will include a running count of how many posts you have remaining.
2. Each game day you are limited to 15 posts total. Each real day, you are limited to 2 posts total.
3. If you violate rule 2, you will be modkilled. The alignment of modkilled players will be revealled at the end of a day.
4. If you are modkilled, stop talking. Making more than 3 posts in a real day or 16 posts in a game day will be severely frowned upon and will result in you being banned from any future games modded by me. In addition, I reserve the right to edit any post that would result in a modkill.
5. If you have used 15 posts, your vote is locked in, even if you later modkill yourself. Modkilling in this way will not affect the number of votes needed to achieve a lynch.
6. The day will end under the following circumstances
a. A lynch is reached normally
b. Everybody has used all 15 posts or has been modkilled
c. No nonmoderator posts have appeared in 3 real days
d. Enough votes have been locked in that a lynch is inevitable (and nobody else can be lynched)
In the case of b or c, anybody tied for the largest number of votes will be lynched. If no lynch is the sole vote leader, nobody will be lynched.
7. If you desire somebody be prodded, please let me know.
8. Night will last 72 hours (3 real days). If you have night choices and don't submit them, I will use random.org to submit them for you. In a fit of generosity, I will also send a PM informing you of your targets in this case.
9. The town win condition is
You win when all scum are dead and at least one member of the town is alive.

Status: Have sent all role PM's. Anybody who may talk at night may talk as normal while the thread is locked. I will unlock the thread once everybody has received PM's.
Be sure to make sure you've read the latest version of the rules, so you know how things work.

Some of you have thought we were starting with night. I apologize for any confusion or stress this may have caused; I've just kept the thread locked to make sure everybody picked up their role PM. Enough people have done so that it's time to break for day.

Pacific Standard Time=GMT - 8 hours.

Mod Note: Both PJ and I will have limited access tomorrow night, so we'll retroactively edit a vote count into somebody's post. After 7:00 PM PST (GMT -800) hits tomorrow night, feel free to post again. Or don't. It's your choice.

mod: clarification you said that If it's inevitable someones going to be lynched you'll do it for us when is this after 3 days of no posts after it is impossible for anyone else to have more votes?
A lynch is inevitable if enough votes have been locked in that no other lynch can occur. This has not yet happened.

Klebian (Jan 30)
None of them have posted in more than a week.
Bogre (Only post made Dec 19) needs to be replaced.
I have sent out prods on all 7 people (your 6+Bogre). If any of them do not pick up their prod in 3 days, they will be replaced. If they pick up their prods but choose not to post, I have no problem with that.

First, role PM's.
Each role PM is of the form
Congrats, you've got a power role. You are a cop/doc/vig. Each night you must submit three names; one name to be investigated, doc protected, and vigged, respectively. These names can be the same or different, however you may not submit your own name.
As a cop, you made be any of sane/insane/naive/paranoid
As a doc, you may be a true doc (block one kill against your target) or a quack (completely ineffective)
As a vig, you may be a true vig (kill your target once) or you may be firing blanks (completely ineffective)
If you don't submit any names, your choices will be determined randomly. So don't fret about getting choices in if needs be.
In addition town got
You win when all scum are dead and at least one member of the town is alive.
Coron received
In addition, you are scum with Crashtextdummie, Max, and Primate. You are also Cop Immune; any investigations on you will be treated as an investigation of a normal town member. You win when your group controls 50% of the town.
Primate received
In addition, you are scum with Coron, CrashTextDummie, and Max. You are also doc immune; if you submit the scum night kill, it will ignore all doc protection (this does not apply to your normal vig kill, if you have one). You win when your group controls 50% of the town.
Glork (replacing Max) received
In addition, you are scum with Coron, CrashTextDummie, and Primate. You are also vig immune; you cannot be killed by vigs. You win when your group controls 50% of the town.
Mr. Flay (replacing CTD) received
In addition, you are scum with Coron, Max, and Primate. You also know your full role; you are an insane quack who fires blanks. You win when your group controls 50% of the town.

This game was inspired by this thread about whether mafia games needed incentives to participate or incentives to lurk. Part of the point of this game was to come up with every incentive I could think of to encourage a lack of posting. The incentives included
1. Posting restrictions: the most obvious one. The maximum restriction discourage throwing away posts; while the per day restriction limited bility to communicate.
2. Self selection: advertising this game as a gam for lurkers encouraged low participation players to join. (Not all such players joined, and not all players in this game were low participation, but there is a correlation.)
3. Power Roles Oversaturation: This game had lots of power roles. In general power roles tend to discourage participation; people want to avoid being forced to claim (which ironically was a good thing in this set up), people feel they can always rely on claiming a power role as defense (pointless here, since everybody had the same powers), and people rely on powers to catch scum. The last part was actually fairly subtle; most of the powers were actually not that helpful to town. Scum had partial immunity to each power; moreover, the docs and vigs at best cancelled each other out, and town didn't have time to figure out if the cops were useful.
Originally, scum had only three members, with each member being an "avatar" of one of the power roles, and being immune to the effects of that role. (For example, Coron was the avatar of copness-Sane, quack, blank, and was also Cop Immune). Mr. Flay/CTD's role was added later.
If I ran this style of game again, I'd probably remove the limit on posts per day, and lower the overall power level. I do like the idea of the cop/doc/vig with sanities role PM, though.
