Those who need to learn Lua.

Go to http://www.codecademy.com

Do the stuff there to learn the basics of Javascript. This will teach you how a programming language functions and the basics of how to code. Then, when you want to learn Lua, all you have to learn is the differences in syntax, which are incredibly easy to pick up.

Here are some things you definitely should know how to do in Javascript from Codecademy before talking to someone who knows Lua about learning that language:
How to declare variables
How to declare and call functions
How to create a while loop
How to create an if/else statement (including if, else if, and else)

You can probably learn all that in like 2 hours on Codecademy. Their tutorials are really good. After you're done with that, talk to Klaz/me and we can teach you the differences in syntax as well as how to operate the Turtle API.

I'm finding description books that (I hope) M approved, and that are most definitely not in the myst-age sheet.

Hey guys!

Yay! I finally managed to get the forum to send me an account activation email (after many attempts) and so now I can join in the fun on here as well as in-game!

There's been a bit of discussion about Lua -- it's something that I'm getting to grips with at the moment and I'm looking at various ways of automating all sorts of things using turtles and/or computers. If you've got any particular problems or need help ironing out bugs then feel free to PM me. I work as a software engineer, using C++ mainly, and Lua is pretty new to me, so I can't guarantee that I'll be of any use, but I'll have a go!

Nope. In fact I've been speaking out against use of Mystcraft (and Twilight) until the server is more permanent.
So here's everybody's official warning: you can keep your Descriptive Books for now, but you are not allowed to use them.

@Maru: when is server consolidation likely to happen? The RAM loss on the temporary location of the FTB server, plus the lack of CP control, is getting quite noticeable and frustrating...I was under the impression this was going to be a problem that lasted a matter of hours, but please keep me informed.

Also, I noticed that descriptive books no longer have an age number on it. How do I know which age it is, so that I can preserve it on age sheet?

The number can probably still be checked by looking for the little white number next the book's name/icon in a Writing Desk or Link Modifier.

If it takes two hours to learn how to use basic flow control then perhaps programming isn't your thing.

Coding isn't my thing, nor is it the thing of the majority of the people using Lua for Turtles. I'm trying to give them a way to get a crash course on the logic of a programming language functions for use in Minecraft, not for use in coding for Google or Microsoft. Hop off the high horse there, buddy.
