Oh hey guys I forgot I wanted to talk about warps in the vanilla server.


What do you guys think about replacing /warp with /warp command blocks located at warp pads? (OP configured, of course).

As you guys know I've been against warps and TP-ing and all other such voodoo magic but I think this way warps would be balanced and fair, so that I actually like them. It would mean that players may only warp from a warp pad to a warp pad, rather than from anywhere in the world to any warp pad, which I think is the main reason I was against warps - because they're available at any time from anywhere. This change would make warps function more like portals. Another benefit would be that people wouldn't have to try to remember all the warp locations, and new people would be able to find them. I still only know for sure about spawntown and skyland and vineland. I think there are others but I have no idea what they are or where they go. Makes for an inaccessible server if its too hard to find other people and see their creations.

Easiest way would be to make spawntown the master hub, and build a warp pad with command blocks to every other warp. At every other warp, you'd just need a command block back to the spawn warp pad master hub. That way it takes 2 warps to get to most places, but requires the least amount of command blocks to be configured.

I have some other ideas, such as prerequisits based on warp distance in order to "earn" the warp at a location and to keep the server accessible for players who wish to not use warps, but I don't want to make it sound too complicated too quickly (even if it all makes perfect sense in my head ). Just curious if people like this idea?

I've always been OK with /home. /back feels cheaty but I do abuse it to move resources around and to recover items after deaths. I never knew /spawn was a thing but I guess its fine as long as /spawn doesn't drop you right on the warp pad which just bypasses the whole point of switching to command blocks. /tp as its used now is probably OK. It's only useful when multiple people are online and its probably not a bad thing to get people together quickly and encourage collaboration.

so you need to remove the permissions already in place in a way such as to leave other teleport commands while removing the ability to /warp while also (maybe, MY IDEA AND I LIKE THIS) adding the ability to use /warp to see what warps there are (admins can already do this, players cant)

If they are, they're taking a long time.

They're actually expanding into MO today and are expanding to NYC sometime soon, I believe. It'll take some time, but it's well worth it. I emailed to FiberSupport team about it a few weeks ago.
