@Maru: what do you mean "my Tesseracts ate everything you own"? I've set EVERY SINGLE ONE of my Tesseracts (Item/Liquid/Energy alike) to "Owner Only" frequencies. Nobody else should be able to input or output from them.

And yes it can. if you make a world without ravines, lava lakes, caves, and mineshafts, there will be no hidden underground lava pools.

Note.
When you set the configuration on a tesseract to "send only" it requires a redstone signal.
When you set the configuration on a tesseract to "receive only" it does not require redstone signal.
When you set the configuration on a tesseract to "send and receive" it does require a redstone signal. This is the default setting of a tesseract.

Water updates cause a lot of strain in the server. This is true even in Vanilla Minecraft - you don't want a lot of water updating at the same time.

Watering/de-watering a quarry means tens of thousands of blocks updating in a very short span of time.

On a side note, what's up with the attitude, Maru/Klaz? It is a sensible rule, with a simple explanation that is not immediately obvious.

Another option is using IC2 miners. If you put a pump by the miner, it will put all the lava/water in nice canisters. It also doesn't leave a mess in the landscape.

What if you want the obsidian?

pump+miner and mix the water/lava you get. Or just minium+wood+automatic crafting table (need 2 minium stone for this)?
