Ah, I see. Ok, here is a simple, non-spoily comment - but keep in mind that I, myself, have explored the mod very little yet.

The mod is mainly about creating magic items. You can create blocks with magical properties (they do cool stuff), or you can create magical items like magical coal that burns for longer, or magic wands (such as a digging wand).

How the mod works: Every "component" (item, block, etc) must be found out by doing research. You do research by sacrificing blocks at a research table. For instance, an arrow gives you research on "combat" and "flying". When you accumulate a certain number of research, you unlock a new part of the mod (a new knowledge).

To create a magical block or item, you need to do two things: 1- Craft it in a special crafting table, 2- infuse it with "essentia". Essentia are the same elements as in research, so you "sacrifice" items with that essentia to finalize the magical recipe. When you do that, you usually waste some essentia (which becomes flux). If you waste too much essentia, too fast, bad things happen, so you may want to limit reckless use of magic.

Finally, the Thaunomicon is VERY well explained. The description of each facet of the mod (items, mechanics, etc) is done in a very clear and concise way, it is almost like having a portable wiki in the game, so you never really get lost while playing around with TC.

this is why thaumcraft dev sucks so bad. he relies on his past reputation with thaumcraft to carry thaumcraft 3 and therefor makes it extremely hard to get any new users like you and me who are wary installing a mod with such little documentation.

On that note, does anyone know where I can find documentation on RedPower? I'm trying to build a diamond factory in a creative world, but buildcraft pipes are waaaay too buggy.

I did, found nothing. The FTB wiki isn't exactly in-depth, and and I was under the impression RedPower was being/had been re-written too?

I haven't seen any documentation yet (haven't looked for it), but Direwolf20's you tube video series, videos 9 and 10 I believe (sorting system part 1 and 2) does a VERY good job of explaining the Redpower tube system.

Actually the entire series (season V, uses the same modpack we're using right now) is really good.

Anybody on the FTB Server who doesn't want an Age deleted needs to PM me AND Maruchan before midnight on Saturday with the Age numbers for those Ages that you want to keep. We'll be doing this every week so no new PM, no new Age being kept. Just so you all know, we have something like 75 Ages in there right now so we're not going to remember any of this if you don't send it to us, via PM.

Also remember it is a server rule that you cannot have more than 2 active Ages. We will not keep more than 2 per player.

M, I think there's a better way to do that than weekly PMs. Create a Google Drive spreadsheet with three columns: "Username in MC", "Age 1", "Age 2"

If the number of an age isn't in the spreadsheet, it's subject to deletion at any time. Whenever you change active ages, you must update the spreadsheet immediately to ensure they aren't deleted.

This would prevent you from having to sift through dozens of PMs weekly. You just click a bookmark and Ctrl+F any age numbers you think can be deleted to see if someone wants them kept.

Question: can we have a third age if it's a void age? Considering nothing is being loaded other than 9 stone blocks and the sky? Or is that pushing it?

25 stone blocks. And I'd say no, there's plenty you can do with a void age. The lag we're been experiencing probably has more to do with tile entities and the like than the area loaded.

Word of caution- once you go in, you will never get out until you complete the gauntlet. (Or is this too brutal?)
