no UT, its just temporary, I'm in the process of downloading our server's files atm. i have 8 gigs down and its still coming in a 2 mb a sec so it might take a wile.
If we regenerated unpopulated/unused areas I would be okay with that as a compromise. Abandoning everything we've worked on this past year I wouldn't be. We lost a ton of shit with the previous reset too. Some pretty impressive shit we never ever replicated. I don't see the point as the server is nearly infinite and if you wanted to build new things all you have to do is pick a direction and walk.

given "used"areas by all active users, using common sense to find the inactive users main areas, and then throwing in a bit of a border round it and regenerating the rest

I'm not against a reset, but I'm not really for it. We can fix what we already have transportation wise. I'd be ok with a compromise of keeping warps to/from spawntown and vineland, since a 5 minute nether trainride is pretty ridiculous. As long as those stay the only warps, we can just create a transportation hub at each location, and branch out at each place. Skytown warp was never really needed because it doesn't take any time at all to get there through the nether pathway that was already set up before warps and tp happened.
I'm not really for partial reset/regen of the existing world. Its just silly IMO. Keeping all our stuff and the buildings we want, its not really changing anything over not doing anything. We can connect the existing areas we want whether or not we partial reset other areas.
And there is also the option of moving spawn 5-10,000 blocks in some direction and we can just start over without nuking the existing structures people want to keep. Could even be a good idea for the rags to riches community build - to build a new spawnpoint welcome structure off in the wilderness somewhere. :shrug:

This sounds like a great idea.
I want the world to be reset, I'm getting tired of this world and I want to start all over again.
I don't want to have the majority of the world regened except the parts where people have built, it sounds fucking dumb since it's nothing close to world reset. If we wanted to use that regened area we would have before it was regened.
So anyway is rags to riches definitely starting in an hour?

MCEdit is easier and faster, and much harder to mightily fuck up. Take the server down for a few hours, download the map, delete/prune the chunks, upload, and you're good to go without Minecraft having a chance to interfere.

I truly like the new spawn point idea. Make a new Spawntown, keep all warps in place, move the spawn to the new section, AND add a warp for Honeyopolis because it'll be far. This is also something really useful for the RtR event.
I think as the founder of Vineland I have the right to approve that decision
