Obviously I didn't intend for Brandi to cry or to try and make an ultimatum, I merely meant it as a "matter of fact" sort of statement, not a WELL MAKE ME LEADER OR ELSE. I told her we'd still be on friends list obv, and I'm still rolling the same server as everyone, and there'd be nothing to stop us from still doing things together.


No nono, if the majority of MS doesn't want me to be leader, then why the hell would I try to strongarm for it? I just won't be leader of the MS guild.

BUT

Last time I played an MMO, leading my guild was the single #1 source of satisfaction I got out of the game. It was the reason I PLAYED the fucking game. I started it from scratch, and we got all the way up to 40man raids at one point. I loved everything about the process, the leading, the managing, etc. I didn't CARE that I wasn't in a top raiding guild or seeing all the endgame content, even though with my gear/time spent I could've been. I just liked that I had grown my guild myself, it gave me that human need of accomplishment.

So yeah, there aren't meant to be hard feelings, its just that a goal of mine for this game is to LEAD a guild. I was hoping to start with the MS playerbase and friends, but if I'm not wanted then I'll have to start my own.


And since apparently you can be members of multiple guilds I can always pop in for events and things.

This drama thing is being blown out of proportion (ohu MS), its a akin to saying "LOL FATES SUCH A PETTY ASS HE REFUSES TO ROLL A HUMAN WITH ALL OF US HES GOING TO STOMP AWAY AND ROLL A NORN." Well if I wanted to play this game in the first place to roll a Norn yeah that's what I'm going to do.

on a more serious note isn't it possible to have two guild leaders? obviously one would be a custom role in the guild created specifically for that person, but if you just give a certain role the same permissions as guild leader won't it all be the same

Watched my friend playing the stress test, it seems surprisingly dynamic. How active is the combat? Is it more of a Warcraft or more of a Witcher 2/Dark Souls kind of thing?

You'll love the combat system, Hito. It's a combination of Witcher 2 timings (especially on autos/1 for certain classes, or riposte type skills), TERA dodging (roll to avoid that fireball! Everything is a 'skillshot' and can be broken by line of sight or movement if it's a projectile), and a combo system that's more robust than anything I've seen.

Movement is a big deal in a way it never was in WoW, except at very high level arena play (and even then "movement tests" were just a measure of how tightly you could hump x_terrain). PvE encounters aren't really revealed yet, but the low level instance Fate and I did involved a lot of ducking and dodging to avoid death. I played a thief on low fps/graphics, which was pretty unforgiving and HARD even though I'm pretty good at avoiding traditional mmo aoe/dat fire.

Combos are field-based and tend to be intuitive ("firemage make flame wall, arrows I shoot through flamewall turn burnburn!"), but the interactions between certain fields and finishers gets pretty complex. There are a lot of debuffs, boons, and aoe management to consider in group settings - especially pvp.

Hrm. I was kinda ignoring GW2 because my tastes are pretty much entirely opposite the tropes of MMOs, but this is starting to sound like a 3d bloodline champions which would be hype as balls.

How relevant is progression to the PvP? What edges does someone who's played 500 hours have in PvP against me? I'm willing to accept a little (runes and masteries, traits and medallions, etc) because it takes time to develop personal skill anyway, but grinding for specific loot tends to bum me out unless I have the threat of permenant death keeping me on my toes. (Alternatively, I could play roguelike GW2 and uninstall the first time I die...)

From what I can tell, there is no real difference besides loot and skill. Apparantly, everyone who PvPs gets temp boosted to max level, and the "special" loot does nothing in warzones. That, at least, is my understanding.

PvP rewards are all titles and skins.

Trust me arena net wants this to become an Esport, theres gonna be no extra advantages (and were none in GW1)

Brandi is likely going to lead the MafiaScum [SCUM] guild, unless someone else would rather.
It will be a gathering collection of scummers to put them all in one place to make it easier to find everyone.
It won't be our focus as a guild though.
As a whole, MSers would never work as a functional anything.

I will have a separate guild that will be our main focus for guilding and influence gathering.
It won't be mafiascum exclusive people as I have other peoples coming into this game.
I don't do random recruiting though. (e.g. LOOKING FOR FUN GUILD JOIN US TODAY.) So it will be a smaller, more streamlined guild.
