means

you win with the town. Winning with the scum

means

you are scum aligned. Just telling someone they're theoretically "aligned" with a faction means nothing if it doesn't match their win condition.

Stupid Townie is basically a weaker Traitor, by the looks of things. And one that gives them even more incentive to just fake a guilty day 2 than a regular Traitor…

Not sure if thats best or worse but there are definatly good and bastard aspects to the role too

I've seen, in a theme game, a generically-scum traitor who could win with any of the scum groups (but not with the town), but they didn't know who their allies were. That doesn't count as a worst role; yours doesn't either. It is indeed somewhat bastard, but probably belongs to the best roles thread anyway.

That's why I posted it in Best ideas first. It definetly is very interesting and cool, but its also very bastard. I guess it really depends on what you care about more. Having Fun or The Games Integrity

People typically arrange a code to get around the "can only vote" restriction, unless there's an additional restriction ("can only vote once per 24 hours" gets rid of most of the abuse, although in theory it's still slightly abusable).

I don't understand all the fuss about this. Sure, put in a clause on how often the player can post if you want, but wouldn't it just be easier to say "if you attempt to abuse this (e.g. through a code) you will be modkilled"?

In a game where you are using them, if that's already bad modding, how does enforcing them reliably make it worse?

Basically, you get too much gray area if you attempt to use a subjectively-enforced post restriction to bar a breaking strategy. (It's been tried, it doesn't work; either people skirt the borderline and the strategy continues working, or a whole bunch of people get modkilled and the game is ruined.)

Objective post restrictions work fine for those breaking strategies that can be banned at all with them; alternatively, the better solution is to design the setup to punish people who attempt them (see War in the Palace, for instance).

You also create fundamental flaws that make it very likely for the player to be lynched.

- It is pro-town for a person with a post restriction to attempt to work around it.
- If the mod threatens modkill for this, the mod is threatening modkill for pro-town behavior

That means you have a town player with a strong incentive to act anti-town.

There's a difference between making a player have difficulty communicating and making a player play like scum.
