I think Padan Fain is obvious. I think it was Sammael who sent out the Darkhounds after Perrin (I think this was when he met Faile). What we can discern from the third killing is a) it wasn't an Aes Sedai - unless that Aes Sedai was of the Black Ajah (3 oaths and all) b) it wasn't likely a man, as there are few male channelers - and most are in the black tower. c) because of the nature of mafia, we can't just assume that it was a Shaido wise one (although that's where Galina is). I think that leaves us with a Forsaken or a Black Ajah.

If we assume that The Forsaken are the Mafia, perhaps the black ajah are a cult and Padan Fain is an SK?

@mod is there a specific time period of WoT for this?
I'm suspicious - in every sense of the word.

If you mean in terms of why I made the name connection, here is the link to a game I played in which we successfully lynched a scum by making a name connection. It may have been bad modding, I don't know, but it's worked for me before. BTW, the name-connection is made on the first post of the page I linked to.

Yamahako, there's some inconsistency in the books but it's at least arguable that the Three Oaths don't apply to killing darkfriends. More telling is that the Black Ajah wouldn't have killed one of their own. Also, Sammael wasn't the only one to have Darkhounds, IIRC; there was quite a large pack floating around in either Crossroads of Twilight or Knife of Dreams.

However, if the Black Ajah
didn't
kill off one of their own, and Shamrock died by some other agency, who did the Black Ajah kill? A cult doesn't make a huge amount of sense since the only people who can become Black Ajah are, by definition, Aes Sedai, and we don't have a whole game full of those.

In conclusion,
Vote: Karn1.

But who would have known if Galina Sedai was Black Ajah? I guess at this early stage too much speculation would be a bad thing.

I'm also kind of assuming that non-Black Ajah Aes Sedai wouldn't have the ability to kill anyone. So unless we have an Ashaman Vig.. we need to have another group with a killing roll. Though I guess cults don't typically kill people huh?

I'm FoSing you not because of your random vote (it was kind of humorous :) ). I am FoSing you because PJ made a "non-random vote" on you. I am not voting for you until PJ elaborates upon his reasoning.

An Ashaman Vig is likely because, though they wield the tainted One Power, they are fighting for the Dragon Reborn (aka Rand Al' Thor)who I am speculating is on the side of the town.

PetroleumJelly wrote:Shamrock (Galina Sedai) was "killed with the power somehow". This one is confusing to me. People who could kill with the power are: Aes Sedai, Ashaman, the Forsaken, Rand Al'Thor, and The Dark One. I haven't decided on which I think is most likely (I am leaning towards Aes Sedai, personally, but I would also imagine an Aes Sedai killer would be from the Black Ajah...)
I gave this a bit more thought (as I was trying to go to sleep last night), and I thought of some other possibilities. Other people who can kill with the power are Wilders, some Wise Ones (from the Aiel, perhaps more specifically the Shaido), the Seanchan's damane and sul'dam, and The Knitting Circle ladies.

I personally think it may be either the Seanchan or possibly the Shaido (although I would imagine the Shaido would kill using spears... hum). Of course, this makes the Black Ajah just as problematic. I also discarded the thought of a Black Ajah cult, because as TSS points out, the Black Ajah can only recruit Aes Sedai. This leads me to believe that their kill must have somehow been nulled, but we will probably be able to make a more educated guess on that after tomorrow morning.

The response for my vote which "may or may not be as random as it seems" is very interesting, and I choose not to elaborate on it for the time being. I would rather wait until everybody has checked in and said their piece.

I looked back at what I wrote, and I don't think it really says anything about a cop claim. I wasn't even thinking PJ could be a cop, but now that you mention it... well, I guess we'll find out in the future. I was just curious what it meant, and I know I'm not the only one. Someone pointed it out before me (obviously). :)

I'm not sure what you're driving at, Yamahako. The Black Ajah would have known that
Shamrock
was one of them and therefore not killed him. Unless you're implying that the Black Ajah aren't a unified group in this game, but a several of individual bad-guy Aes Sedai?

I was kind of thinking we might have 2 scum groups - the Black Ajah, and the Forsaken - though that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I think an Ashaman Vig makes more sense. Or perhaps 2 serial killers? Taim for example?

I spy,
With my little eye
A scum, who should soon die.

And in this way
I doubt I will vote elsewhere today
Except on our dear friend
Vote: Mr Flay

And to not be so obtuse
I offer you a muse
For latter thoughts for you to peruse.

The motivation is plain to see
The black ajah is neither you nor me
rather this man it be.

For he hides in impossibilities
While tossing out incorrect realities
Just wait till you see the words into which he flees.

The man tries to flavor talk
So freely his group can walk
But we must call him, and make him balk.

Hm, I can follow this wagon, but unless someone actually claims information (not neccisarily what it is) then things get hazy. I'd rather wait for a response by flay or more poetic verse from tamuz.

I apologize in advance, but I mixed this game up with another that was proposed in the Mafia Discussion forum--one with revivable players, so unless I can find the book I'll ask to be replaced..I am so lost!

Aww, Amelia. :(

In any case, I just remembered one of my thoughts about possible set-ups. If there is going to be a cult in this game, I would imagine that it is probably The Children of the Light, not the Black Ajah. But we have no evidence of that yet, so I won't put much stock in it until we have progressed further into the game.
