I think Reck's argument to vote lynch toog has been bad and I think town reck should have been lynching Jason today based on things he's been saying. I think his guns blazing approach against toog was to manufacture another potential lynch choice because him and Jason were all that was left before today.

But then I don't like how toog gave up on reck and switched his vote to Jason. Like, maybe he got the idea that if jason was lynched he'd be able to get Reck lynched tomorrow. Idk... bah this sucks, I really don't expect hammering toog has the best chance of winning the game...

"How do we know that wasn't Liara?" Anderson coughed.

"That's what you're betting on?" Benezia glared at him. "How do we know it was a geth that injured you, and not Nihlus?"

"Calm down..." Udina started.

"No, I'm finishing this." Benezia stood up. "I don't believe Anderson's story, he's the most likely to be indoctrinated."

"I agree." Ashley drew her gun.

"What?" Benezia turned around, startled.

"I'm agreeing with you, the Captain isn't himself. I think he's the last slave."

Anderson made a noise. "You mean... it's you, Ashley? Why would you turn on me?"

"This is crazy." Tali shook her head. "Ash, you can't be serious."

"No." Benezia looked torn. "It can't be her, it's him."

"Look, I'm just trying to save the galaxy, OK?" Ashley was close to tears. "And Captain, you're not yourself, sir."

Ashley aimed her gun. With a slight movement, Benezia tore the rifle from her hand and slammed the Corporeal against the wall. She crumpled to the ground.

"No!" Udina screamed. "You're overreacting! She couldn't have been guilty!"

"It's OK..." The four turned to look at Ashley Williams, lying on the ground. Blood flowed from her head, and her legs were cracked and twisted. But she was still alive.

"It's OK Sarah," she said. "I'm here. Ash is here. Everything's going to be fine."

From a hidden pocket in her armour, she drew a small pistol.

"I'll get rid of it for you. They're not going to hurt you anymore."

She aimed the gun.

Alright, here's the deal, folks.

I'm not sure how obvious it is from your end, but the above death wasn't supposed to happen. Umbrage got to the thread before me and for reasons unknown to me took it upon himself to end the day, and misinterpreted what the role of governor does/when it can be activated and allowed the Jason lynch to go through, despite the fact that Rhinox

did

in fact send in an action stopping it. (Disclaimer: This is in no way a mod comment on his alignment one way or another.)

Problem is, by the time I got to the thread it was too late to fix. Jason's already been confirmed town; there's no going back from that. So we've now had what basically amounts to pretty massive mod interference in the game, as unintentional as I'm sure it was.

There's no need to yell at Umbrage for this (I've already done so <_< and it really comes down to him trying to be helpful but just not having the right modding experience and making a rookie mistake, even if it's a big one) but I need to know how you folks want to proceed from this point on. There's no way of knowing how this has affected the way the game would have played out otherwise, and I know for some people that's reason enough to want to stop playing it.

Please PM me (esuriospiritus,

Sovereign) whether you'd like to proceed with the game despite the mod interference or simply call it a draw.

Unfortunately, my decision to do this means that, with four presently alive, we're going to have to wait for Toogeloo to get back for the results unless the other three of you all vote for the same option. I'm not sure what I'll do yet if there's a tie, but I suppose if 2 of you want to call it a draw it's probably best to do that rather than to force half of you to continue playing the game when you don't want to.

This should go without saying, but there is to be NO discussion between yourselves as to what choice you're picking, etc.

When you learned Eden Prime was attacked by a rogue Spectre, you knew it was a turning point for humanity. It was a chance for you to discredit the Council and their servants, while putting a human into the Spectres and gaining diplomatic ground. Either that, or lose everything and watch as more human colonies were destroyed. It was time to risk everything and hope for the best. You knew the stakes, and you used every trick in your book to gain the upper hand.

Then it all went to hell.

At first it seemed like you'd won after all, Saren was removed from the Spectres, and Shepard was in. A glorious victory for humanity. If only it could've stayed that way. If only Shepard had taken Saren out quickly. He would've been a hero, and so would humanity. A seat on the Council would've certainly followed...

But there's no point in dreaming. No point in thinking of how things could've been. Instead of showing his reliability, Shepard went galloping off into the Terminus Systems. For a while, it looked like there would be a galaxy-wide war. Next thing you know, the geth are attacking the Council, and they have that... thing... with them.

Well, you've had quite enough. It's time to destroy that ship and take back the Citadel.

Did you get to become the toughest son of a bitch krogan in the galaxy by killing every nimrod you came across? Hell no. Only about 90% of them. The others you leave alive to tell other people what a tough son of a bitch you are. Then, you get fewer nimrods crossing your path. It's better that way, more peaceful. Serial killers never get the same relaxation a merc does.

Besides, it's not even clear who the bad guys are anymore. You might end up shooting the wrong guy, and then your ass is fried. No, you can't get trigger-happy. That's the mistake Jarrod made, and he got what was coming to him. If there's one thing that ordeal taught you, it's that you never seek a fight.

You just have to be ready if one comes your way.

This group... most don't look too powerful. A single one of them couldn't take you down, and they seem to know it. Squishy humans and asari. Nothing major there. The turians, maybe, but you've dealt with worse. No, you needn't fear an attack, not yet anyway. But you'd still do well to keep your friends alive. If it comes to an open brawl, you could use them. Besides, they're more suited for this kind of situation. You're a blow-em-up guy. No real special skills. They're the ones who'll be able to figure out who's lying.

There was a time when you'd be able to jump right into the action. Whip out a pistol and start blasting things. But not anymore. Ever since Cynthia left you, the fire that spurred you onwards has been dying out. When you were selected as a Spectre candidate, you saw it as a chance to put the past behind you. Start a new life, a life of service to the galaxy. You'd be a deadly agent, capable of handling any situation with ease. The best of the best.

But that was all taken away in an instant. You remember how the explosion shook the walls, crumbled the ceiling. In that moment, you knew something had gone terribly, terribly wrong. A sinking feeling in your stomach, fear creeping over your shoulders. It was all over after that. The dream was dead.

When you were given command of the Normandy, you figured it was the end of a long career. You'd gone as far as you could go, and the Normandy was your reward. But it wasn't to be. One thing led to another, and now it looks like you're all in trouble. Shepard was on top of it, though. You could advise, yes, but it would be Shepard who did the work. You had your time in the spotlight.

You feel tired. Weak. You never should have come here. You could be a liability.

No, don't think like that. You still have skills. Knowledge. Wisdom. Stay back from the action, let the others handle that. Keep perspective, a clear focus. This group is more than qualified to do their jobs.

But it wasn't your biotics that saved you from the geth. And it wasn't academics. It was your mind. You detached yourself from the situation and set up a barrier between you and the geth until help arrived. That was pretty damn clever.

Things are really bad. The Reaper is inside the Citadel, and if the Protheans were correct, all organic life will be destroyed unless you act carefully. There has never been anything more important than this mission.

So why the only thing on your mind your mother?

You already said goodbye to her, saw her fade from this world. You shouldn't be forced to see her die again. But can you trust her? Can you trust anyone?

You will adapt. You weren't a soldier when Shepard recruited you. But you adapted, you learned how to fire a gun, how to use your powers to defeat enemies. When Benezia died, you accepted her death, and moved on. When you learned about the Reapers, you accepted them and moved on.

Your mind will get you and your friends out of this. It has to.

You remember Torfan. The bunkers. Long caves with small rooms. Possibly the worst situation to find yourself in. The Batarians had traps, defenses, ambushes. You had your men. Horrible pain...

Scenes start to come back to you. Memories. Your first day of duty. Taking out those Batarian slavers. Accepting the position of Spectre in front of the Council.

Those were proud times. Times when your inferiors treated you with admiration, your superiors with respect, and your equals with envy. But that's not all you knew. A familar pain comes in a sudden surge: Desolas! Killed... by human scum. Hatred begins to blossom now, a burning bloodlust for those greedy pyjaks. You remember the refinery... the artifact...

It was incredible. An enormous ship, possessed with a strange beauty, an elegance. So... comforting. It wasn't long before the visions started. Small ones at first. But the picture became clearer. You saw the future of the entire galaxy, and it was extinction.

Unless, you found a way to stop it. Now the memories are tinged with an alien presence, a voice inside your head. You see geth in front of you, you recall talking with them, cooperating. You remember the breeding factory, the krogan army. You see your hand pull the trigger, you see your dearest friend fall to the ground. He never saw it coming. Then there was Shepard, chasing you across the galaxy, Ilos, the Citadel, fighting with Shepard, then...

Death. You died, you can remember it clearly, you felt life slipping away. And yet here you are. You open your eyes, and the first thing you see is the ship. It's here. It's going to summon the Reapers. It stands in the middle of a swarm of fighters, utterly unfazed by the attack. It's shields are at full power.

That can only mean one thing.

It still has slaves to command.

This is more than you bargained for.

You never should've come here. The others are all soldiers and diplomats. You're neither of those. You're just a young girl in way over her head. It started out as fun. For the first time in your life, you weren't just another mouth to feed. You were a valuable member of the crew, Shepard needed your talents. Shepard needed you. Sure, the crew would give you strange looks, mutter behind your back, but Shepard and Adams were always nice to you, treated you like an actual person. A rare find.

And you were doing good at the same time. If Saren succeeded, everything would be lost. What else could you do but join in the fight? The fact that you got to kill a lot of geth only sweetened the deal. That and the Normandy. You'd never seen a ship like that, and probably never would again.

If only you'd stayed with the Normandy. If only you hadn't followed Shepard. Here, your abilities aren't any good. How are you supposed to know who's lying? Human body language is so confusing. But it's too late now. You'll have to help in the only way you can: with your mechanical skills. There are a lot of dead geth around, you could create a contraption or two.

The air is different. Metallic. Colours are muted. That Reaper is powerful, but is it really powerful enough to bring people back from the dead? Nothing seems impossible now. And it's doing something, you know that much. Whatever it is, it can't be good. Your head is aching. You start to get really tired...

No, stop. Think. As long as you keep your mind active, that thing can't get inside. Pick a memory, anything. Jump Zero. That turian bastard. Your first kill. It was horrible. Shooting faceless mercs and geth is one thing, and you've gotten used to killing by now anyway. But that wasn't supposed to happen. You've been trying to stop it from ever happening again. It's always been clawing away at your skull: the knowledge that if you make one slip, one wrong move, whoever's next to you is dead before you know what's happening. Not unheard of for biotics to lose control. Kill whole groups by accident, end up being locked away with no human contact. You swore that wasn't going to happen to you. You would stay in control. You would keep your abilities in check.

But the signs are there. Uneasiness, headaches, if this was downtime you'd be trying to get some sleep, maybe consulting Dr. Chakwas about treatments. Hell of time for you to go nuts. It doesn't look like Shepard'll be giving you leave any time soon. You'll have to make do. Ignore the pain, you're used to pain.

There's something you're forgetting. Before you came here, there was a choice... you thought you were going to die.

No, it's gone. Who can focus in this room? It's trying to confuse you, plant ideas in your head. Keep your mind intact. Stay sharp. You don't know who's going to suddenly turn on you.

It's like Eden Prime all over again.

The frightening thing about it wasn't the geth. You could handle the geth. It wasn't even losing your unit, you'd seen people die before, and you made sure not to get personal with your fellow squad. That could never end well. No, it was the isolation. Knowing that you could die alone at any second. Knowing there was nobody left to watch your back.

You could always just follow orders. Orders made this seem like a regular 9 to 5 job. You didn't have to think about who you were shooting. Just do your part, and live long enough to forget it. But down there, no orders were coming. Just you, and a bunch of machines. Silent machines. Gunfire and explosions weren't a problem. But that silence chilled you to the bone. Nobody left to save. No duties to perform. Your only remaining job was to stay alive.

Shepard saved you. And then the Captain gave you another chance. He saw something in you. He knew you could get any job done. But you never felt you deserved it. You should've died on Eden Prime, there were times when your survival seemed impossible. You knew you were living on borrowed time, a sensation that's returning. There's something you're forgetting. A choice. A moment when you were willing to die, expecting to die, and then... It's gone. Your memory is failing you. Focus. Don't get distracted.

You'd die for Shepard, no hesitation. But what if Shepard is no longer Shepard? What if he's being controlled? Can you trust anyone? This can't be happening.

Stop thinking like that. You still know right from wrong, and you can detect evil from goodness.

But then, you've never been what you should've. You should've been a nobody, a criminal. But you enlisted instead. Instead of fighting off soldiers you became one. Nobody expected you to succeed. Some of your peers tried to make sure you didn't. Putting up with them got really hard sometimes. Even the officers didn't like you. They always wanted you to do things their way, as opposed to what you thought was the right way.

All that changed when you met Saren. He was the only one who had any faith in you. Who believed you. He saw things in you nobody else had. He knew your potential. He got you into the Spectres, and that's where you were able to truly shine. Without anyone breathing down your neck.

Your death didn't surprise you. After so many successful missions as a Spectre, something had to go wrong one of these days. No, the surprising thing is who did it. Saren? Why? Clearly he was allied with the geth, but why would he suddenly turn rogue?

How did you ever figure it out, anyway? You remember Shepard saying something, and that Reaper, Sovereign, he spoke as well. That part is all a blur. The only thing you remember clearly is waking up on the Normandy's cargo hold with Matriarch Benezia. Between the two of you, the rest was easy.

You thought you'd thrown a curveball. You thought by warning Shepard, you could stop Sovereign's plans.

You never want to have to go through that again.

Death had never been a major fear for you. It was simply a passage, a step that all beings had to take eventually, even asari. But lying on that cold floor, feeling your heart stop, the blood stand still in your veins... it wasn't poetic. It wasn't spiritual. It was a horror. A giant wave of pain tearing through your body, slowly ripping your soul away from the flesh it was bound in.

You remember watching for a light, but it never came. Now, the pieces are falling into place. Just as Sovereign had taken over your mind, it had taken over your body as well. You couldn't die until that thing decided to allow it. But you could still endure pain. And there was much pain on Noveria. Dragging yourself across the frozen earth, not able to feel the snow with your numb fingers. Finally, finally there was rescue.

Liara was all that mattered to you. You had to find her. Obviously, you weren't thinking clearly, didn't know what you were doing. You walked right into Sovereign's trap like a fool. But that's in the past. All that matters is where you are now.

The human isn't shooting at you, that's one blessing. And Liara is still alive and well, there's another. But that could change. What if she's indoctrinated? What if she's waiting for you to turn your back or close your eyes? If she turned on you, could you kill her? Noveria didn't count, that wasn't you, not really. Could you put her through the same torment you underwent? Do you have a choice?

You don't know what will happen to you or your daughter. Maybe it will be perfectly fine, maybe the return of the Reapers is inevitable. But either way, it doesn't mean you can't try for redemption. Your skills have been muted after what you went through, but you still have some abilities remaining.

Oh yeah, this is great. Fucking perfect. You're obviously a good choice to save the galaxy, you have all the requirements: brains, wit, charisma, and severe collagen deficiency. How did this happen? What were they thinking? "Hm... let's post the guy who can barely walk to the most dangerous assignment in the galaxy!" Why couldn't you have been a test pilot? You'd be on next-gen equipment, get plenty of days off, and have absolutely no contact with dangerous aliens who want to kill you. Good perks. But no, they wanted you to escort Commander Suicide. But hey, that's fine too, the Commander does all the messy work, and you fly in at the end looking like the big fucking savior. That's the way it's supposed to be. So why the hell are you dodging laser beams in the middle of the biggest battle humanity's ever faced trying to find Commander Bonehead who's likely fighting even more aliens with big guns?

Still. You're dodging laser beams. Darting all over the place, running for your life. You've never been this active, and yet not a single fracture. Pretty sweet. Of course the doc has her own crazy theories. "This isn't right, Joker!" "It must be that machine, Joker!" "We have to warn Shepard, Joker!" Big fucking deal. Why can't you just enjoy your brief moments of athleticism running along on a beach somewhere?

It all started with those stowaways. After the Commander left for Eelost, or whatever it was. You could've known Nihlus was going to be there, Garrus was gone after all, and what's a ship without a stuck-up hard-ass turian on board? But with that psycho asari? That was weird. Chakwas was doing her tests, then suddenly you have to go to the Citadel, it's under attack. So fine, go to the Citadel. Then, HOLY SHIT THAT'S A BIG FUCKING MONSTER. But no problem, right? The entire Alliance military is there, right? You'll be able to bring it down, right? Maybe, if Chakwas hadn't dragged you off to meet Commander Blastem. All thanks to that asari of course. She's the one that started whining about indoctrinated slaves, and they could be anyone, and yada yada yada. Why couldn't Commander Hero deal with it?

Something's not right here. And if you ever want to live long enough to hook up with an asari babe, you're going to have to figure it out.

Paranoid.

That's what they called you. Paranoid. Pessimistic. Far too serious. Your gun was your only friend. Everyone else thought you were a liability. A loose cannon. Dangerous. Well, sometimes you need a loose cannon to get things done. Sometimes you've got to screw the rules and go for the throat.

Even in training they hated you. You were still somewhat sensitive back then, trusting instead of cynical. That changed soon enough as you learned that not everyone shared your burning desire to serve justice. They did their jobs by the book, but had no purpose. What was the point of enforcing justice if you didn't care about the end result?

You'll never forget the day you learned that you were being considered for the Spectres. It wasn't that you wanted to do it, you knew your chances were slim at best. No, what mattered was that for the first time ever, you learned that someone, somewhere, was watching you. Someone high up thought you were doing a hell of a job. At a time when you needed support, when your family felt you were turning into a failure, you had proof that you were worth a damn.

That's why you joined Shepard. The Commander had that same drive, and saw it in you. Hunting Saren was more than just a job. And you were sure that you were going to kill him. He wouldn't get salvation through red tape. The fate of the galaxy depended on it. Simple as that.

So of course things had to get complicated.

But no matter. The stakes are the same. You will adapt. And you will kill those that threaten you.

Disappointing end, but I think PV (and his team) could probably count this as a win. Had jason actually been governed, reck or toog would have been lynched, and then the likely scenario is either jason or the other of reck and toog getting lynched tomorrow, with jason using his vengeful on the reck/toog survivor if lynched in lylo.

I don't see how PV is scum. 2 scum teams of 2 + hiraki SK? Were they 2 indoctrinated groups? Because if not the flavor after hiraki's death might be kinda bastardly.

I enjoyed the game, twas fun, great flavor, great setup, would play again (mass effect 2 mafia pre-/in yes?)
