Concewrning balance: I stated this before and I say it again. With a duoble-town-usurper and an SK four scum was actually not underpowered, at least not seriously. That three scum died throughout the first three days was simply a consequence of horrible play. Looking back every single one of the scum had drawn lots of negative attention from D1 on.
Town had no strong investigative roles as a compensation (and tracker died N1). If anything the sheer amount of protective and blocking roles, heavily bolstered up by the three "chose your power" roles (ooba, Nacho, Magna), that allowed town to drag out the game virtually forever, was a major point in town's favour.
Just out of interest: Whose supers could not be refreshed by Plum?

Here's the ridiculously rough version of our conversation. Read it from the bottom up. It would help I guess if you had the surveys, so I'll get those for you eventually. Normally, I wouldn't put this up without Andrius's permission, but it doesn't really reveal anything other than our opinions on the surveys, which is what we wanted to get across. And ftr, if you find ANYTHING objectionable about Andrius's processes in the UPick part of the game, know that I (THE UPICK KING ) would have done pretty much the same.

I don't see why. There's nothing bastard about letting people choose to answer the survey in a way that makes them scum. I like that list pretty well. Just fill in those blanks with random roles and we're off.

Somehow, I realized how this should "technically" be done:
randomnumbergenerate the numbers; assign the scumteams randomly; then assign scumroles accordingly within that, just like assigning roles in the town.

Same for SK.

I pretty much agree across the board there. I say we give scum to the people who double up. So if we get two Zeus people, we just make one Ra. Problems solved.

Is there a method to the madness for that, or?

AV expressed an interest in being scum when he pre-in'd, and AGar will probably go for Hades.

So if we give chesskid Aphrodite, Dekes can get Dionysus, and Magna can get Hephaestus.

Chronopie... Asclepius? Boring as it gets.
Baby Spice is really passive too; Hebe or Iris.

quadz is a leader but passive. Vegetable sacrifices? Really? I think Poseidon or Demeter would work well here.

LordChronos is tough to call as well.

gandalf is all over the place. XD Eris?

Plum is perfect for Hera. The two you mentioned would work too.

I can assure you it wasn't that one question that repelled me, I know enough about greek mythology (after all I was in the 1.0 version ). Some of ther others seemed rather dumb, though.

Sorry, SD...our QT has a LOT of off-topic and personal stuff in it, so we aren't going to release it. Also, I worked out all of my paranoid thought processes there, so much so that I would never want to play in a game with Andy or Katy if I were scum and they were town, lol! They would be able to pick up on way too much.

I agree having a female neighbor would have helped our cause, but there were issues with that, too. As in, if we had one, do we tell them it's only a one-shot neighborizer? What if we missed and hit a female the next night? Or if we hit a male/female/male combo, do we say we're odd (or even) night neighborizers? Then what would happen if we hit a female again on the wrong night? How long would take out neighbors to figure out that the nights we neighborized, there were no castrations...and that we only neighborized goddesses? And if we told them we only neighborized goddesses, how long before they wondered what happened to the gods we targeted and put two and two together? (Speaking of: CASTRATION is distinctly anti-male, so I'm curious about what everyone thought would happen to female targets of that killer?) We went with the lyncher claim, but sadly I didn't think to cover us with saying it was unblockable (which would have made sense--Hera could find Zeus pretty much no matter what he did.).

As to Ooba's comment that it didn't make sense set-up wise, theoretically speaking: since we had also claimed we would be made into a townie should he die to a NK then we were hoping you would see that as our out, on the basis that if he were pushed into claiming Zeus and people actually believed him that scum would NK him as confirmed town OR that you would have concluded that we would have faked a guilty on him with our rolecop ability since successfully lynching him that way would have no repercussions on us as we would have left the game. It was worth a shot, at any rate. We had to claim

Ooba, I agree with MoI: all of the set-up spec you were doing made us think you were scum because it seemed so deflective. I'm not saying not to do it--but maybe don't post it all. If it helps you think and organize your thoughts (and it obviously does!), then by all means, go for it, but posting all of those thoughts in the thread may not help with a town read on you, which can be detrimental in a LYLO situation.

Also, things kind of got weird when you posted the Congreve comment; like, for one thing, it made me want to punch you a little bit; and for another, it was almost like you were goading us to try something like that, which increased my scumread on you. (Also we weren't scorned, we were caught castrating violent cheating rapists, and we weren't a bit sorry! There's a HUGE difference!)

MoI: Oh, yeah, I know why you pushed our lynch. But we didn't want to be lynched, so we kept fighting. We were wondering if there were some way to make it work out so that we could win with town and we weren't going to give up outright. We were also trying to work out the math and see if it were even possible for us to pull off a win, but Quadz really didn't count, and you were convinced Chesskid was scum, and since our only chance was in leaving him alive, there wasn't really a way to convince you not to lynch us. C'est la vie, non? Also, I appreciate the insights to our play; it will help me in future games!

Major props to Katy--she kept me sane! Honestly, Katy was the driving force here. I did most of my talking in the QT, and worried and fussed over everything I put in the thread. I even do that as town, but as 3rd party, it was even worse, so it was a relief to work with someone so good at handling pressure.

Also, thank you all for your kind words post-game! We had a lot of fun in this game. Thanks to the mods for making such a great game possible. You're on my list of favorite mods, too.

This was an incredibly creative game. Loved all the roles and role PMs. It was also exceptionally well modded. Kudos to you guys. I am not going to comment on the "balance" or individual role designs just because that would probably take more time to analyze than it's worth. I'll just say it was all cool.

Too bad real life kept me from ever really getting into this 100%. I was hoping to last longer, expecially with my "get out of one death free" card, and then try to blow things up using like all my 1-shots at once, but that clearly didn't happen. I think I was looking at the right people, mainly, but never felt strongly enough about it to ever really push for anyone, which sadly led to people getting on me for being non-committal and a non-presence. Then I got put in a QT with someone I didn't really trust, and that was fun for a little while, but I couldn't maintain my activity.

So, great game, guys, I enjoyed it while it lasted.

The first iteration of the setup also let the mafia recharge one of their already-used SUPERS but we deemed two extra kills (re: AV's bomb) to be one too many given they destroyed the town in nightplay in early testing with that. >_>

ooba, I loved the setup speculation. Mainly because it was entertaining- at one point in D4 you started with a "Anubis, Egyptian God of Cemeteries and Embalming" and I was like "HOW THE HELL DID HE KNOW THAT?". <_<

Ooh I missed the end of the game. Just got back from vacation, but I really want to say I loved this game to pieces. I had so much fun with the game and hydra-ing with Mockingjaye.

MJ was a great partner for me because I am very impulsive and get these whims I want to act on and MJ is much more thoughtful. Plus she thought up the lyncher fakeclaim which I thought was brilliant. The most important thing was that this game was really fun for me from start to finish and I loved committing to our role and playing it out. I know we didn't play perfectly but we had a precarious line to walk as so many females died right away and so many players were pretty much confirmed as the days went on, it became difficult to work out how to proceed. I wish we could have figured out a way to use the neighborizing part of our power but it seemed like that would get pretty complicated because whatever we chose to say at the beginning in our neighbor QT might come back to haunt us later as circumstances change. It was just difficult as time went on to calibrate a believable fake claim and work that in and it also seemed like, especially after night one, that we really had to focus on killing off males and not dilly-dally with that.

I have to give mad props to Ooba, though some of his speculation was far afield, ultimately his analytical thinking was very key, I think and he really backed us into a corner entirely and locked us down in a steel trap with his night plan. And of course MoI did great. I'm always impressed by players that can take the time to analyze the game so closely, I have a hard time doing it and am much more of an instinctive player.

I loved all the roleplaying stuff and we had so much fun planning it all out in the QT. I am completely in for a sequel. <3 <3 <3 Andrius
