They had her in shackles, so she couldn't swim away. Above the surface of the water, clouds roiled in a stormy sky. Lightning flashed in the distance, and to a man (or woman) they were all profusely glad to be down here where it was nearly serene, at least in terms of weather. The topic of conversation was considerably not so.

"No, really!... I seriously just...

through your innocent little face!" growled one of the partakers in this particular verbal altercation, who was widely known to be jealous of the aquatic girl's... shall we say... voluptuous physique.

"That's not what

says." growled the same woman, pointing to one of her slippery eels, whose eyes flashed as he eyed the girl up and down with a baleful stare. The girl gasped as she saw the eel looking her over, and then blushed.

And then she got indignant.

"How could he know whether or not I was there last night! I didn't see him there at all! He was probably right back here with you!" she looked around at others for support, and got none. They were all eyeing her with the same 'No-talking-your-way-out-of-it-

-time' look.

And then she got desperate.

"Look, please, everyone," she pleaded, "Ask Flounder. Ask Sebastian. Ask

anyone

."

But the crowd around her didn't seem to be buying her story, not one bit. And the two witnesses she had mentioned just

happened

to be out on the reef, and had just

happened

to have left this morning. How very convenient. The girl had probably killed them too. The arguing voices got louder and louder, until one could barely hear herself think, when...

-Crack!-

A blinding bolt of lightning came down through the surface of the water, striking the girl in her heart... and life left her body faster than a school of fish flees at a shark's shadow. Everyone gasped, and swam to safety. The blast of energy had hurt more than just the girl, but only she had been killed outright.

Those who had only seconds before been arguing their case now shut their mouths sullenly in silence at the poor girl's fate. How had the storm gotten so close without anybody noticing? Why had the bolt come down

through

the waves, instead of dissipating on the surface? How had anyone else in the direct vicinity survived, instead of being supercharged into oblivion like had happened to the girl?

Nobody knew, but her body had been nearly vaporized, and only a few locks of her flaming red hair remained, floating gently down to the ocean floor. And then the crowds slowly left the area, satisfied that, at least in a way, their aims had been accomplished. But had justice been done?

Something had gone very wrong...

Either way, the flames were stoked, the swords were drawn, the bows were strung, and the poison was brewed, yet not a single soul met her end last night, whether by hook or by crook. They all looked around and wondered why the killing blow was not struck, or if it was simply that any killer or killers in their midst were biding their time. Either way, all lived to see another day, and all lived to tell the tales of their escapades throughout the night. And thus, there was much rejoicing.

I've lost a bit of the feel for this game with all my v/LAs but has ooba been confirmed as town? If not, I don't want potential scum dictating the entire claim order. If he has been confirmed somehow then that still doesn't give merit to one person setting the entire claim order.

I've already claimed enough of the flavor to make it clear to you that it's real. Not sure what's up with the scarequotes.

There was more to it than just wings, so I want to claim the rest afterward you claim so I can confirm to myself that it matches up. I have a good reason for this.

Ooba is not confirmed town, but he is softclaiming that he has a good reason for going last. You can evaluate whether he's full of shit when the time comes.

I agree that Fate's placement on the claim order is a little weird given Amrun's claiming to have blocked him.
