I'm thinking that we have no doc, a stupid doc, or a doc that gambled.

Maz, I thought you were gonna protect Stark. But then I also thought you were gonna die.

I'd like to hear more from MeMe. I can't help thinking that her claim (even if true) is not clear-cut protown. Any chance of flavour? I guess it's moot, since I expect Maz will be the pick of the day.

I did. And I failed.

I'm going to make the *huge* logical leap here and assume you guys want a claim from me.

Not really, we just want to lynch you.

I think you'd have to be scum, otherwise how could the scum now it was safe to kill him?

It's kind of foolish to advocate a lynch on someone offering a claim.

I'm doing it anyway.

I'm a
Bodyguard
. I'm a limited Doctor with a 50% chance of successfully protecting my target, a 25% chance of failure, and a 25% chance of dying instead of the target and revealing the attacker.

Flavorfully, this is connected with where my character, Leroy, helps Bugsy not get his ass handed to him. I protected Stark and it failed. My guess is that the scum took a gamble, hoping that we would have one of the situations c_d suggested.

Hmm.
If that's a lie he planned it all out ahead of time; it fits early posts.

Except that (from the Maz-is-townie perspective) C_D's suggestions don't make much sense in the face of your de facto doc claim. You essentially said that you were the doc and that you would protect Stark.
If you were a townie then the scum would know it and would be inclined to believe you. In this case, it makes sooo much more sense to attack you, Maz, or Fritz or broom or I.

So I don't believe you.

I figured it was worth not saying I was only a 75%-chance protector in order to try to deflect the scum from guessing at killing him. Masons aren't really a good kill, since when one dies it creates confirmed townies.

Also, the scum are, by most considerations, in a very bad, frankly unfair, situation. It's possible they took the gamble, hoping that I (or any other docrole) did likewise. In this case, their gamble *technically* failed, but they lucked out with my failure.

I meant that the doc would take a gamble. Knowing that the doc would protect the cop, scum would target someone else. However, in reality, the doc would protect someone else to better the chances of protecting someone.

I understand that. I'm saying, a possible scum tactic is to guess that they (the doc) would take that gamble and likewise gamble by attacking Stark. It's WIFOM, really.

Eh? They aren't.

You have a three man, unverified mason group.
One dies, the other two become confirmed innocents.

How is giving the town confirmed innocents a good trade for killing a townie that otherwise has no abilities?

True, killing an innocent mason if there's a scum infiltrator would be a good play, but that's much less likely than just having a three-person innocent mason-group.

That's what I said; that's why killing a mason is a bad play if they're all innocent. Of course, since there was no mason killed, we can conclude that all three are likely innocent or that the scum are incredibly super-good.

I don't think that our scum is incredibly super-good in a sense that we managed to at least lynch one of them. In addition, the masons are
possibly
confirmed because of the scum lynch.

I want to hear a bit more from other people before I start to actually think.

back to the subject of lynching maz, as much as i wanted him dead yesterday, i think he
may
be telling the truth, and not because of his 75% chance to save somebody thing, because if maz isn't the doc, where the hell was s/he?

Yeah, I really doubt that the scum are going to decide to hit Stark when we still have a claimed doctor around unless you're a total liar and in the scum group.
