FURTHERMORE: claiming scum as cult would totally be playing against *current* wincon. (I mean, there's the whole deal with being able to get recruited, but if the whole town played like that the game is void.)

I wouldn't have known any other members, had they existed. Only how many they were.
I'm rather certain the masons would be set up similar, and that they have no clause in their role PMs saying they are immune to being recruited; ie, masons can likely be culted.

I'm thinking the point of not letting members know each other is to prevent alignment confirmation - if I had known Exe was the recruiter, THEN was masoned, I could out Exe as the recruiter while also being confirmed town. Which is frankly unfair.

Andy, think of it this way: If I AM mafia, then I won't be masoned overnight, but the masons will all know if someone's masoned or not - the number of masons will change (sans a kill on a mason <_<). I CAN be roleconfirmed as cult, by masoning me.

And I am not a threat by myself, am I? I'm a one-man scumteam with no kill. Totally worth lynching when we still have mafia around. Even if I AM mafia like you accuse me of being, there's still another mafia out there, AND I'M FREAKING CONFIRMABLE. Only a moron or a scum would push my lynch today (or tomorrow, since at that point I'll likely be confirmed town).

Parama, we're in no rush to recruit you.
Town win condition is to win when all threats to the town are eliminated. Meaning that when we kill the scum, the game isn't over. Meaning that we can no-lynch and just recruit you.
But thanks to your cult claim, you just painted a "HEY IM A POSSIBLE RECRUIT" target on your back, meaning that mafia might kill you before you're recruited and completely screw you over.

The mason recruiter doesn't have to claim. All masons will know whether the amount of masons changed. And they only claim in the scenario where I remain cult, in which case irrelevantness.

You're mafia.
You claim cult now to save your ass. Tonight, you are targeted for masonize. Your mafia shoots, hoping to hit a mason. If you do, great. Then you claim Mason, and one of the TRUE masons will have to claim to get you lynched. Then the other mafioso has a guaranteed mason-kill the next night (barring town docs/RBs), and drawing further connections between the dead mason

and the Head Mason.

By letting Parama live we're WIFOMing the Masons to their possible deaths; even if they don't kill a mason tonight then Parama can either:
a) claim Mason and out a mason (1:1)
b) say it failed and question why.

Basically, since this "cult" is neutered without the leader, he's using it as a crutch for himself as mafia.

Andy, I already told you why I didn't know my recruiter - because my alignment is still subject to change. The masons can probably confirm this is the same for them, except I'd rather not have them claim just for that.

Yeah, except the masons are all now solidified in their alignment with your fail-boss dead. And I'm worried about a Backup Cult Recruiter or something, because the game breaking D1 with a CR lynch would be OFF. (Yeah, you can't setup design solely based on the best/worst cases, buuut it would be a lame game if the CR was lynched D1 and the Masons boned whoever remained as anti-town factions.)
