I'm apparently somewhere near KoC's tower. There's flowing lava and shit near it.If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

I don't think the tower is in the safe zone. That aborted attempt at pixel art is just barely outside the spawn safe zone.Looking for experienced designers to help me design, a sequel to my Nintendo Mafia game!SONY MAFIA

Okay, it's something wrong on my end. Because the chat function is like on a 30 second delay and I'm watching myself say "ohai" like ten times. <_<
[edit] I'm going to ragequit to WoW for now and try this again tomorrow. We'll see if I get it working somehow. If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

Where my upper entrance is, it leads to the cobble bridge road you've got that connects to the vestibule in your home.tanstalas wrote:Mute wrote:Dude those tunnels are big.

We have no logs of anything; the amount of server resources to get such a log (as well as the size the logs would be and the general incomprehensibility of them) would make it a stupid thing to put in such a simplistic server client.esuriospiritus wrote:There was a guy who somehow got our server IP a while back, by the name of DanSayDie.
I wonder if it's him. :/
And I might be wrong, but I think UA/JD can see who last edited a block, which might include chests too. They might be able to figure out who it is or see a log or something. But I don't pretend to know a damn thing about running a minecraft server so IDK.
In the meantime, we should probably all hide our chests. <.<

There were dozens of dyes lying on the ground. If I hadn't picked them up they would have vanished. I don't think Socio would be so careless with his stuff.
And there has been a recent increase of creepered stuff that doesn't get fixed by the people being creepered. For example:
- road on my continent got creepered
- other roads
- socio's shop got creepered beforeEek!-

the thing is, why would anyone griefing have any real reason to leave them thereMy Milked Eek wrote:There were dozens of dyes lying on the ground. If I hadn't picked them up they would have vanished. I don't think Socio would be so careless with his stuff.

Check out Socio's shop. Most of it is still there, except the walls. It could be that it burned down. Do doors, fences and beds catch fire? Still doesn't explain how it caught fire or why the chests were broken.Eek!-

again, i see no reason why we're not just assuming socio did it himself until he says otherwiseMy Milked Eek wrote:

i'd also like to note that blaming "guy who found server IP who isn't on-site" is incredibly dangerous thinking and that i will not abide by any accusations until there is some evidence to support them
i'm logging on quasi-randomly and teleporting to people who are online to ensure that nobody's up to no good just so we can sort of figure things out a bit better-

This. I was actually thinking of inviting a couple of (reliable, non-troll) friends onto the server to help me with my Kocktower, but if this is the thinking that's going to prevail, you might as well password the server and only hand it out to people who ask via PM on here.i'd also like to note that blaming "guy who found server IP who isn't on-site" is incredibly dangerous thinking and that i will not abide by any accusations until there is some evidence to support them-

Alternatively, head towards the big cobble tower with lava pouring out of the top. There's a mine if you head down, and a skyway across to untrod's house and the rest of the island area. If there are zombies near the door, use the water elevator (Just stick your head out every now and then, unless you like drowning.)bv310 wrote:
There's a no-build zone right at spawn. You have to move somewhere else. I'd suggest coming over near my and Esurio's places.InflatablePie wrote:Any reason why I can't pick up any blocks and the blocks I destroy just respawn in seconds? <_<-

I tried building a smallish music box near my place - however, the lag on SMP servers in general (even when it is just a small ammount of lag), makes music tempo REALLY unreliable. I suggest many short/simple songs instead of a big one.esuriospiritus wrote:Don't build too close; I'm planning on building a giant music box at some point.
Either you are in the spawn-safe zone (a 33x33 box around the spawn point) -- or you are experiencing severe lag. Since you said your messages were taking a while to appear, it is probably lag.InflatablePie wrote:Any reason why I can't pick up any blocks and the blocks I destroy just respawn in seconds? <_<
(By the way, I logged in a few times over the weekend, and experienced no lag -- the lag on this server comes and goes unpredictably -- if you have lag, try a few hours later)
I agree with Jdodge, we need to be very careful before throwing griefing accusations around. Things can get sour really quickly. Specially things like "invisible griefers who found our server out of nowhere". If we had such malicious, evil cunning scum in the server, they wouldn't just steal a few stacks of iron and creep a few roads. This looks more like good old fashioned cluelessness to me.A lot of people wrote:Griefers griefers waaa waa waa
Socio DID take down his own shop, at least on my town, he left a plaque saying so. The remains of his original shop do look like they were burned down (glass, stairs, fences remaining, etc), but there is ALSO a plaque there from him ("damn creeping griefers", or something like that).
Creeping roads and random points around the world is NOT griefing -- it happens to everyone. I think it is rude if you don't tell others that you were creepered in a place you did not build, but I can see people who don't realize that (we need to enlighten them before slapping "GRIEFING!" around).
The missing iron is a more serious matter, but like JDodge said, there is not really possible to log block changes. I have a few suggestions:
1- Set a MOTD - I think it is possible to set a message in the server to be displayed every time someone logs in. Put something like: "Rules: Don't take things in chest that don't belong to you. If you get creepered on someone's else buildings, report at the thread: XXXXXXXXXXX"
2- IF the stealings continue, the 1.3 server has a whitelist function. This would force everyone who wants to play to post here at least once (and be reachable by PMs).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo-
