Playing
such games should happen in the Mish Mash forum, of course.

I'm up to 83, probably gonna take a day off though (I've done two full zones in two days, I need a break). I'll be ready for normals in a few days, most likely.

So - after I decide to start doing Tol Barad to get a weapon because a 2-H weapon never drops for me I got one last night and another today, and also went as DPS in a heroic I just finished, thinking I should just be DPS ;)

Image

Yes. That is 19k DPS in a 5-man :)

Patch 4.1 Info

Renowned and Illustrious Guild Tabards grant 100% and 50% (respectively) increases in guild rep. Fuck yeah.

As for class changes... (disclaimer: I may not be 100% right when I say something is buffed or nerfed because I don't know much about some of the classes <.<)

Unholy DKs are nerfed slightly.
Feral Druids buffed slightly.
Hunters buffed (thank you, JD <_<).
Slight nerf to Frost/Arcane Mages, slight buff to Fire.
Holy Pallys buffed slightly, the other two specs nerfed slightly.
Another Disc Priest nerf -
Power Word: Shield now costs 34% of base mana, up from 25%. Now lasts 15 sec, down from 30 sec.
And other nerfs in the other specs.
Rogues get a major buff (!) -
Stealth now has a 4 sec cooldown. Apparently no longer reduces your speed.
Think this might be Subtlety-only though.
Shamans get a buff to a previously useless spell -
Fire Nova now has a 40 yards range, up from 30 yards. Cooldown reduced from 10 sec to 4 sec. Now Ignites your Flame Shock spell on any nearby enemies, causing each of them to emit a wave of flames that deals 647 to 724 Fire damage to every other enemy within 10 yards.

Warlocks get a shitload of things changed for them, I'm not even going to bother posting them all here.
Arms Warriors get a lot of buffs.

Why is Blizz buffing hunters?

I'm holding out hope that Blizzard
did
just randomly decide to buff one of my abilities (which is essentially a passive buff that is more useful than the other aspects except in situations where you need a high nature resistance or you need to run really really fast) by over three times what it did before, and that this isn't some cruel, sick joke. Or a typo.

http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/218 ... b-are-back!

I believe that should give a clearer explanation for some of the changes. For example, shamans don't have Fire Nova pulse from the totem, and cause enemies affected by flame shock to explode. Instead, the target with flame shock on it is the source of the fire nova. In addition, fire mages are actually getting a nerf (I would be quite surprised if the second highest average dps spec was getting a buff). The proc used to be off of any spell, periodic or non-periodic. The periodic component is being removed.

This is the source for the above link, direct from Blizzard:

http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/1604 ... oming-soon

Unfortunately for Jdodge, I see no mention of a change to aspect of the hawk.

"Whirlwind now has its cooldown reduced by 6 sec. if it deals damage to 4 or more targets."

That's ridiculous. 4 sec cooldown on large AoE packs.

Arms is going to be broken lol.

I was being sarcastic, due to the line "Nothing! But I have a hug for you!" under locks (scroll down to the green).

Kai: That's the same link I posted. Except now it's updated to have the bluepost above. Apparently I was looking at the greenpost, which was MMO-Champion's post, not Blizzard's. *shrug*

Your idea of "major" is a bit skewed. But for more info, its for all rogues, and the first tier sub talent increases speed still, afaik.

Ooh... this thread and all the Cataclysm hype is giving me the WoW itch again...

I hear it's easier to level now, so there's less time commitments, is this true? How often do you guys play? I'm a university student so time is a premium for me.

I dont know about cata specifically but the difference between wrath and vanilla is largely overstated, as while 0-60 was way quicker, 60-80 was a pretty sizable grind. What it really felt like was that the whole first 70 was being played on fast forwards - even dungeons that used to take a few hours ith careful talking about how to cc the one mob and focus the big damage dealer were largely irrelevant as it became "ok we pull this room and gogogogogogo" which I found honestly a lot less fun but whatever. It gets you to that coveted endgame content quicker - I just don't see why that means you should have to just sacrifice all early game content. Also I found that people at endgame were indeed morons cause they hadn't learnt to play through the early dungeons. I dunno.

This is it. Basically, Azeroth got a huge overhaul, and quests are now:
- shorter and easier
- less repetitive (eg. go fight something at the back of this cave... here's a magic item so you can teleport out afterwards)
- more varied (eg. transport quests, weird minigames)
Plus dungeons have maps, and quest-givers just inside the entrance, so going through the dungeon finder is wonderful.

BC and Wrath hark back to vanilla WoW, it's still enjoyable (and it was all new to me), but it's a lot slower. It took me about a month to get as far as Outland, and another to reach Northrend.

Personally, I've really enjoyed the changes, and levelling to 0-60 for the second time has been a blast. Apart from maybe the easier dungeons, if that's what's fostered the "gogogo" attitude, because I hate that.

Also grats to the scummers guild on Level 2 :)

Mine is still only halfway there :(

Everything you said here is completely true, still. 60-70 is much, much quicker now. Even 1-60 is quicker, is seems. Hell, 80-85 is pretty damn quick for what its worth. From what I hear, Cata heroics are a bit harder than Wrath heroics, but not quite at the level of pre-nerf BC heroics (I mean, fuck those). I'd assume a lot of that is just the fact that a lot of people aren't at the gear levels that people reached towards the end of Wrath, making 80 heroics a total joke even with PuGs.
