Andrius' Mafia RuleSet



I: Pre-Game

I.
Confirmations will be done in-thread in this game.
II.
Factions with QuickTopics (QTs) will be able to converse as per the rules of their QTs. The "Mafia" faction has DayTalk.
III.
When all of the players confirm, I will start Day One.

II: Day Phase (DP)

I.
Each Day Phase shall last two weeks.
II.
QTs, unless members have DayTalk, cannot talk during the DP.
III. Votes must be bolded or they shall not be counted.
Abbreviating someone's name is acceptable, so long as I can discern who you were voting for without trouble.
IV.
Unvoting is not required, but is much appreciated by me, the moderator.
V.
Once you have reached a simple majority (half of all living players plus one) that person's fate is sealed and they shall be lynched. Unvoting cannot change their fate.
VI.
If half the living players approve a No Lynch (
Vote: No Lynch
), then no player shall be lynched and the game shall enter Night Phase. If deadline is reached and no one has received a simple majority of the votes, no one shall be lynched.
VII.
Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I arrive and post a death scene. All players may continue to post during Twilight.
VIII.
If you have failed to post for over 48 hours, I will send you a prod. Failure to respond to this prod within 48 hours will result in the replacement of that player. Force-replacing of flakers/rule-breakers will be occur at my discretion.
IX.
A deadline extension of 24 hours to the DP may be granted; just ask.

III: Twilight Phase

I.
Twilight Phase is the time between the moment when a simple majority for a lynch is met, and when I post the death scene and lock the thread for Night Phase. All players, including the lynchee, may continue to talk in-thread.
II.
Votes and Unvotes shall not be counted during Twilight.
III.
Once the lynch scene has been posted the thread shall be locked for the Night Phase.

IV: Night Phase (NP)

I.
Night shall last 72 hours (three days).
II.
The mafia faction and any other group with a quicktopic will be able to communicate using their QT.
III.
Any role or faction with night abilities may choose to use them by PM-ing the mod with their choice.
IV.
If no action is received, no action will be taken. All actions received after the deadline has passed will not be acknowledged.
V.
Contradictions in action resolution (i.e. mutual roleblocks/recruitions) are resolved by giving the first action submitted priority. This ONLY applies if actions cannot be resolved normally.


V: Capital Offenses

I.
Do not quote your Role PM or any private communication (either real or fabricated) with the moderator, co-moderator, or backup-moderator. Paraphrasing your Role PM is acceptable.
II.
There is to be no personal communication outside the forum postings (regarding this game) unless your role specifically allows it.
III.
I will use the color
Dark Red
for mod stuff outside of my posts. Posts originally made by me will vary in color.
IV.
Do not quote your Role PM. (Again, for emphasis.)
V.
Various Outlawed Shenanigans:
  • Using invisible text, codes, cryptography, etc.
  • Editing your posts (if you have the power to do so)
  • Insulting other players
  • Do not quote any QTs you may have access to
If any of these offenses are committed, I have the right to force-replace you from the game or modkill you. A warning will usually come before replacement or modkilling, depending on the severity of the infraction.

VI: Miscellaneous

I.
Feel free to address me in-thread, but if there is a large egregious mistake please PM me. Small matters like errors in the votecount can be posted in-thread.
II.
I have the final say on any issue.
III.
This is a game. Have fun, and keep the game fun for other people. Stay civilized, please.
IV.
Play to win.

VII: Game-Specific Rules

I.
There are no Cults or Jesters in this setup.
II.
This is not a bastard game.

There are no Vanilla Roles.

Each Day Phase you will vote for a lynch and for one player to bear
The One Ring
for the following Night Phase. The player who is given this responsibility will gain access to their Superpower for that night only. You may win this honor more than once. To vote for this honor, you may

to support their bid or
Un-Imbue
to remove your support. Like Lynch-Voting, you may vote for yourself, and Unvotes are not necessary. You need a simple majority (half the live players +1) of votes to win this honor. Once the majority is reached, the Imbue is locked in place for the Day.

But no one interferes when the Nazgul are involved. Twelve hooded and cloaked figures descend on the bluff between Mount Doom and Barad-dur. On a cragged stone pedestal in the center of the bluff sits The One Ring. Forged by the Dark Lord Sauron an age ago, the
Heroes of Light
are here to destroy it. And as the dozen hooded figures glance from hooded face to hooded face, you know that just running to claim it would spell certain death.

The sun begins to set in the land of Mordor and it isn't long before the shrieking and chanting voices of the Nazgul (and other fell beings) draw the attention of

evil being; both living and otherwise. The remnants of Sauron's armies gather to watch the proceedings.

As the majority of you turn against
Plum
, a black arrow flies through the night and pierces Plum just underneath where her heart would be. Staggering back, Plum pulls out her blade. From across the bluff walks

, as he was in death; blood perpetually flowing from his wounds, and his head was barely attached to his head; as if he were some sort of monster pieced together again and brought to life by the lifeblood of Revenge. He notched another arrow to his bow, and fired again, hitting Plum square in the chest. As Plum hurled her sword at the Uruk-hai, the final arrow pierced her heart, sending her crashing to the ground.

You all gather around her as her sword sends a2rudeboy back into the netherworld. You retrieve The Horn of Gondor from her corpse. As you all disperse for the night one of you comments,
"One does not simply walk into Mordor."

Yes. Fate. In his own account. Why? Yes, this reverses some things. I still agree with the reasons behind the modkill, though it would have been more pertinent to simply eject RC from the hydra instead of dropping the whole deal. This isn't because its easier for me. Dekes (through my own fault) got access to the Dead QT, and wins because of mod error. RC has moved on to the Dead QT, and Fate is here for now. The mod force-replacement and subsequent actions will be discussed post-game. Fate and I have come to an understanding, and this is how things stand. For now.

The following has also been added to the ruleset, in case it wasn't apparently clear before.

It isn't soon after the shiny lights and natural phenomenon die down that you all turn on hohum.

"He slew The Witch-King!" one of you says.

"Personally, I think he's just misguided." another says.

"I say lynch me." hohum says. Some of you are swayed. No Elf-prince would lay down his own life like this, you think.

Others think its a clever ruse. As you surround him, his fate is clear. He draws his sword from his side, yet does not move to attack. Nine unsheath their blades. In a flurry of blades, his tattered rags are cut to ribbons, and his spirit is banished from the realm.

Lightning cracked in the sky as the summons was made for the Nazgul to reappear on the mount.

The first to arrive was

. "ALRIGHT
SHADOW LORD
, LET'S DO THIS."

The black clouds overhead began to break.
The Shadow Lord
was nowhere in sight.
The Fellbeast
covered his face from the harsh sun with his large wings. The form of
The Shadow Lord
appeared, though he was a mere wight, a frame of his former self. "My spirit lingers for awhile longer
Fellbeast
, but my body is broken."

Without warning, the sky began to erupt into a fiery cataclysm of death and hellfire. Mount Doom, Orodruin, exploded in fire and ash.
The Fellbeast
blew his cover, and spread his wings, taking to the sky in the hopes of gaining Mount Doom. Behind him AlmasterGM's spirit stood next to the rocky pedestal; The One Ring missing.

neared Mount Doom a horrid screech reverberated through his head. It was the dying knell of
The Shadow Lord
, and the knowledge that The One Ring was destroyed in the Mount. Desperate to take any form of revenge against the perpetrator,
The Fellbeast
folded his wings into a dive, careening towards Mount Doom. But as he approached a flaming sheet of fire and burning boulder collided with the unfortunate beast, burning his wings and sending him smoldering to his death.

Running from the Crack of Doom,
Glorfindel
leapt from rock and crag to find better footing. Crying out to the heavens, he at last collapsed on a rock floating in the magma.

As his sight faded, the sun broke through the thick clouds of Mordor. A lone winged beast approached

, scooping him into his claws. As
Glorfindel
lost consciousness he heard a familiar yet new voice speak to him, "You have fought well, and your tale shall be told for many a generation to come. Rest, and be at peace, Son of Gondolin."

The Tower of Barad-dur crumbled in the dying throes of Mordor; Mount Doom split down the side and purged the land. And the remaining orcs were swallowed by the hungry earth, eager to consume that which had plagued it for many an age.

The Third Age of this world is over.

What happened was simple. AlmasterGM hammered, and submitted his RB action nearly ten minutes after the hammer- during which time MasterSpy submitted his action blocking AlmasterGM. MasterSpy killed AGM N5, leaving only two players alive D6; while there were 3 votes, there were only two bodies, leaving the physical count at 2. 1:1, scum win.

SETUP COMMENTS
Probably would have been better, in hindsight, to swap Plum and SpyreX. :/
The Doc allotment couldn't have worked better for Fate.

Yes, there are a couple issues; there are 2 Masons and a Confirmage player. But the scumteam, playing well, could have won on Night Two.
Its a VERY swingy setup, and again, these LOTR setups don't exactly take the top-"badguy" getting lynched D1.
Legolas was always a support role for his team; in the... first version of the setup the player he targeted was immune to watches and tracks.
Funny story, actually. This is the FOURTH mutation of the setup. The original was more of a "spell-list" game like SnowBunny's. Scrapped because of complexity, and the game shouldn't really run around night actions that much.

Like so:
The Witch-King of Angmar
1 Power: Track a player
2 Power: Kill a player if you weren't targeted by anyone else
3 Power: Watch and Protect a player
Each night they gained one power, started with 0. Imbue gave them 1 power. But that was even harder to balance; 3 scum was too few, 4 was too many. :S

The 2nd protective role was probably a bit much; I was worried about the 2 kills a night in a 12player mini.
The vig was a necessary. The 2nd protective role was overkill.

Lessons learned:
Don't balance because of the worst-case scenario for town or scum. It will result in over-powered town or scum respectively.


Ruleset

Play to Win is now part of the ruleset. hohum was playing to win in that his death would confirm himself, thus making the other person who targeted Fate scum-killer. quadz failed big-time IMO because he didn't reveal MasterSpy.
But yeah. Play to Win is definitely in the ruleset2.0 and emphasized.

No quoting role pms/qts/mod communication is still in there, at least twice.

NAR will be dealt with for future games. Faraday is a great mentor, and the double-RB thing of Vi's isn't the best idea, as we've all seen.


But yeah. I'm not hiding my faults or anything. Everything's in the open. I still stand by my decision to force-replace Edge. However, the better thing would have been to kick RC. Meh. The kick was justified. Implementation wasn't so great.

A goof fifth of the Mason QT is missing because of the Fate/RC/Andy (and Dekes) drama that spanned numerous PMs and 2 QTs.

The setup was flawed, I grant that. This doesn't mean there won't be another power-heavy setup in the future. This means there'll be more oversight and muuuuuch more testing (nearing insane LOTR-Large scale).

I got to see the flaws in my ruleset, and the flaws in my modding, and that was a great experience so the next game will be even better, smooth, and less down and dirty.

3) Trust me, the whole whichever-comes-first will NOT happen again. That was a fix to a problem I didn't forsee (the double-RBs) that I took from Vi. No offense, but it doesn't really work here all too well.

And honestly, this turning into a hate-thread is NOT how this is supposed to work.

If we can't keep this civil then it will be locked.

I have no problem with people who didn't play posting, but chesskid and (to a lesser extent) Katsuki's stuff is unacceptable.
