Mage Crowd Control (the ability to influence the behaviour of mobs) is huge. Freezing, polymorph, blinking away, everything else...they just own making enemies hit less.
Warlock is the better option though.

dont do priest as your first full leveling ever unless you're leveling with someone. cuz uuuhh it sucks until you learn how to use them. >_> I was leveling with someone that happened to be a roooouge.... that happened to be my best friend so she could get away with stalking off somewhere, allowing me to die, then sit on the head of my corspe til i res'd.

Locks imo are the easiest DPS-er that you can learn. I've completely avoided mages though.

Also what do you guys want me to level on Lightning's blade? Tank ranged melee or heals?
EDIT-Mages are actually alot of fun. Just level in frost if you can't handle levelling in arcane. The pet and frostbolt stuff are just too good when killing mobs. Just kill one at a time until you run out of mana, if they get close frost nova blink away, continue to frostbolt. If anything it's kinda boring because it's so easy lol.

Mages are ridiculously fun. I did a kind of Frost/Arcane hybrid(I really only put points in Arcane for the food/water benefits and Arcane Missile).

pyroblast->fireblast->scorch->Dragon breath->pyroblast->fireblast

if the enemy is still alive by then, it's a boss.

Also mirror image is the most broken spell ever for PVE.

Also - if you guys want I have a 10 person Vent server that is doing nothing if you want to use it you can, good enough for 2 party's of 5, I can also admin someone (probably Reck or Dram) so you can boot people if you like

I'm thinking of being a mage, next. Any advice?

I've always really liked mages. Level in frost so you can get the water elemental companion to help out with damage mitigation. I just started a warlock on Lightning's Blade, and I kinda like it so far, but I really miss the power of direct damage instead of DoTs. Warlocks are cool, though, because the voidwalker can tank for you.

Everyone is exaggerating how hard it is to level a mage. It's really not that bad. Priests, however, are a pain in the ass. I'm so proud that my main character is a Priest, and I'm almost at Level 84. Soon I won't have to deal with soloing -_-

I some how have a school life, social life, and a gaming life fitting well together. I fear this may not last long though.

Last time before I quit I was the #2 ranked Blood DK on my server, that's when I knew I had a problem and needed to stop playing, I got really addicted and the stress of running instances made the game unfun. I need to just play with a casual group

I just mix my gaming and social life. Most of my normal crew of friends all play the same games as I do, or at least one. At one point we all were in a guild together and raided for a little bit. We still do League of Legends 5 man premades in the same room. We also play Killing Floor and Tf2 together, and we talk about it in public with our other friends, get them interested, and sooner or later we have a big community around here.

There's also a bunch of other pretty decent sized gaming communities, including smash, mvc, street fighter, and monster hunter. In fact, probably the only game we don't actually have a decent sized community for is counter strike, and that's really really good for a small town in the South. Usually you're lucky to have one type of gaming community here if any in a town our size.

EDIT-Well I'm personally pretty casual about wow even though I like to raid. For instance I enjoy creating extra damage (such as spreading cleaves and aoes like chain lightning), and ruining someones dps with a well placed BoP.

Most/all of my friends play WoW. Most nights of the week involve homework/cooking/WoW. One night a week (sometimes two) we actually all go out and actually have a real social life.

most of my friends do not play wow, but i do have 1 friend that plays with me so we have pizza/wow/movie nights often. and next fall we will be roommates bwahahah

3-4 of my coworkers play WoW, and a good group of my friends do as well, although on a different server (or several).

I mostly play when I have nothing else to do - I'm not gonna be the type to get super-addicted and drop real life things for WoW or anything. One of my friends dropped out of college so he could keep up with raids or something, and another friend is moving to New Mexico to meet some guy she met over WoW. I'm not gonna let myself get that addicted. <_<
