Why have you not sorted out this flavour stuff? You are still arguing over it on day two because you'd rather run around confused than know what's going on?
Since you all seem to be so inept that you can't figure out the obvious, I'll spell it out for you:
The setup:
I'm thinking all-vanilla, but it doesn't matter. Every townie starts out asCell Locked, which means that they cannot use actions or have actions used upon them at night. That means that everyone starts out as bulletproof, so regardless of whether or not the mafia have a group kill, nobody died last night because all of the townies were bulletproof. You are told when you are unlocked.
When you are unlocked, you do not change alignments. You stay town. If being unlocked meant you changed alignment, the mod wouldn't have to tell us not to claim being unlocked. All it means is that you can now be killed and otherwise acted upon, and that you can also use any abilities that you may have. It's too bad that nobody can claim any actions because doing so would require claiming locked/unlocked status.
All of the mafia start out unlocked, so they can do stuff at night and have stuff done to them at night. Pretty self-explanatory.
At night, the mafia get to choose one person whose cell they will unlock. That person will not die, but they lose all the benefits of being jailkept every night.
The mafia seem to have two win conditions:
Primary wincon: Unlock every cell. To do this, they unlock one cell every night until there are none but unlocked cells left, at which point the mafia wins.
Secondary wincon: Equal or outnumber the town. After the town loses their ability to lynch mafia, the mafia can nolynch until every cell is unlocked.
lylo occurs when lynching a locked townie would cause there to be but one locked townie remaining. We have to keep a close eye on this, because it is not normal lylo. This formula should be accurate (although I'm no math whiz, so correct me if this is wrong):
L = 9 - t - n, where
L is locked townies remaining,
t is locked townies lynched, and
n is the number of night phases that have passed.
If L = 0, we lose. If L = 2, we are in lylo. Note that we can actually safely lynch an unlocked townie when L = 2 (assuming no mafia kill; I might have to change this formula tomorrow), but I wouldn't bet on that happening because we cannot claim locked/unlocked status.
To explain my formula, I will use today as an example. Now we are at L = 9 - 1 - 1 = 7. If we lynch a locked townie every day, we will have L = 1 on day five. If the mafia have a kill, we'll lose before then, but this is just something to keep in mind.
Anyway, now back to playing mafia.
Because you're one to talk about lurking.McG wrote:I'm kind of suspicious about Nikanor. He says he forgot he replaced into this game, but how do we know he wasn't lurking until the hammer so he would not fuck up?
Vote: Hinduragi.
I'd say that I'm also willing to lynch nopoint and McG if it didn't weaken my Hinduragi vote.I am in the bottom 10% of scumhunters onsite!-

What the hell are you talking about. I have this game figured out. TBM is an SK and Hindu is mafia/town. You're town because of your foolish strongheadedness displayed in both this game and that ongoing one. nopoint is town because of what he said before about RC.
If I think I know the setup, there is no point in posting other than to get scum lynched.I am in the bottom 10% of scumhunters onsite!-

Mechanics that restrict what you can say about your role usually put a damper on things, but that shouldn't be a surprise.Fate wrote:I agree that the mechanic may have been a damper to interest in this game, but SpyreX said he liked it and Nikanor seemed to understand it easily enough so I'm not sure what the deal was besides two site-flakers.I am in the bottom 10% of scumhunters onsite!-

I understand why you couldn't let people claim it, and agree that we shouldn't have been able to, but at the same time I think that it was a bad idea to run a mechanic that we couldn't talk about. What good is an interesting mechanic if we're not allowed to discuss it in-thread? The special mechanic might as well have not been present.I am in the bottom 10% of scumhunters onsite!-
