In terms of the rest, the analysis is mostly logical but wrong. The unvote/revote is a fairly null tell, as remembering my RVS vote is not a high priority regardless of alignment. Also, moving to Nopoint was completely logical: he is scummier than you, RC.

In this particular case you might be right, but I disagree that it's scummy to try to discourage setup speculation. I think if I were scum in a game like this I'd be attempting to encourage as much mod-wifom and mod-outguessing as possible because it would be easy in such cases for even the weakest scum players to "blend in" as it were.

No, I'm not saying setup speculation is anti-town, but I don't think it's either necessary or pro-town.

You're doing an awful lot of telling us how to interpret your actions. I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you on the unvote/revote. That does look an awful lot like someone who isn't paying attn to the thread.

There is a big difference between setup speculation (i.e. postulation of personal opinions), versus clarification of nebulous wording in the ruleset. Asking the mod questions about the rules does not constitute setup speculation. Which is why discouragement of said clarification, especially under the brand that it is speculation in and of itself, is quite scummy.

To me personally, it looked like a reaching attempt to paint someone else as scummy, when there was nothing inherently scummy there. That's what scum have to do. Make up sh*t out of thin air, throw it against the wall, and hope it sticks.

But even if it doesn't really stick, there's always the chance someone else (usually a newbie, under the belief that the scum's "oh noes! setup speculation! FoS:u" accusations are actually a valid argument) will jump all over person who formulated the "speculative" statements, and then commence tunneling on them, thereby likely instigating an OMGUStunnel in kind. Then, a lenthy (but ultimately useless) verbal battle ensues, because usually the person asking the mod so many questions is a newbie too! (though there are exceptions in a game like this when the rules are quite nebulous at first blush). And during all that, it gives the initial accuser (who is actually the scum) a perfect chance to fade back into the lowlights, chuckle deeply, and watch a mislynch virtually create itself.

There have been multiple theories presented about the setup that were not questions to the mod, nor could they be interpreted as questions of clarity. Example is Copper, who presented an interpretation and then suggested a role-claim from it.

A question at RC: so if you believe setup-discussion discouraging is scummy, what was the basis of your selection of scum-suspects in post 42? I discouraged speculation, how come that did not make me scummy?

To your second question, his post was logical in that it looked to interpretation and motivations, rather than just what specifically was said. Such is good scumhunting, as motivations are key. However, his conclusions were the wrong ones. It's pretty straightforward.
