@springlulluby: What makes scum more likely to be "too serious too early"?

The combination of two factors mostly:
It is always harder for scum to judge the degree of an offence, making them more prone to inadequate reactions.
Scum like fire-proof votes.

What is your opinion on the matter?

Too serious too early is a null tell because it is hypothetically in the town's interest to provoke people and spur discussion out of RVS. However, it can easily be misapplied in ways that assist the scum more. So null.

I guess the next question is why is kittytank too serious, rather than the right amount of seriousness? Since that's what point one predicates on.

Can you elaborate point two?

Well, because I didn't think MBF's "fishing" was as scummy as Panzer made it out to be. And by my point two I meant that scum liked to have vote that are un-attackable, factor which contribute to their tendency to be "too serious too early".

A thought that do not really pertain to the game. I'm worried about the line of thinking displayed above. Mafia play cannot be reduced to a given sets of situation to which one assign an arbitrary degree of "telling ness". Everything has to be adapted to the situation. But that's how I play mafia, and maybe this is how you play it.

I play mafia by looking for scum intent. I ask a lot of questions D1, rarely commit to anything until around page 15, where hopefully someone has manifested some obvious scum intent. The more talking the better, as I get where people are coming from. I use the word null tell, but I actively avoid trying to use "town tells" or "scum tells". Scumminess isn't a quantity, it's a quality.

Okay, I'm here. So, my initial comment was a little scummy, I admit. Regardless, I'd still like to know if this is a permanent Kingmaker-like thing. Because I've never played a Kingmaker, and if this mechanic is going to be constant I'd like to be prepared. I think the players who are voting me based on this are over-reacting, but not necessarily scum.

I consider myself to be an active player, but only when I care. And since people are throwing around nicknames and doing the RVS thing I'm probably only going to make toothpick posts. Day 1s are boring, but what can you do?

As a note for the future: if/when we do a full rolelclaim, my flavor will not seem to match up with role. You can try to read into this if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Death to Vezok.

Peace out.

@JDodge: I'd love to. People need to give me material to work with. Considering I read just about 4 pages of chaff, I'd like to kinda get things started.

The page 15 comment was tongue in cheek, if you couldn't tell ^-^.

So, UK, I was being antogonistic because, if we all remember my meta, I do love the wagons. Take away the threat of lynching, and I kind of struggle on how to make a meaningful impact. I've never been one for questions and tl;drs. I hope you all understand that I will be finding my feet through much of this game.

In an attempt to achieve something: Prozac, mate, do you still call for Valerious executions today based of UK's early posts, or has she slightly relieved you of said bloodlust?

I dont care much for vezok and Im glad he's been replaced with a player with some brains that don't slightly ooze out of any orifice in a sort of pinky liquid mush. However I never called for an execution on him. I voted him to prove a point about how many people we could vote but that was it.

Too serious too early is, frankly, silly. If something's scummy it's scummy no matter how early it was said.

MBF's original comment was fishing, but his followup about the doctor was clearly messing about. That panzer chose to make a point of this is strange, because I don't think it's even possible to think that mbf was being serious there, or was seriously expecting a response. So to answer UK's question - I couldn't square the circle there, and one option was that he was also messing around still.

I apologise for the terseness - posting this feels like pulling knives from my gut.

Well, at this point it becomes clear kittytank meant it for some obscure reason. What about the strangeness made it scummy to you?
