To me, this sounds like the mafia knows who the other mafia is, but they can't speak with them. I know this is Unknown Role, but this rule gives me the feeling that mafia knows eachother.

What you're thinking of is Amnesia Mafia. Bob stated in a Pm that the mafia don't know who each other are. I think he added that in to say that even if Mafia figure out who each other are, they can't say so.

And, yes tour entire plan depends on whether the mafia know who each other are or not, but we have only the mod's confirmation right now that they did not know each other at the beginning of yesterday. We don't know whether there is a mechanic in place to let the scum find out each other or not. As I said, it's outguessing the mod. Our best assumption is to assume that they don't know who each other are until we have sufficent evidence that they do.

Wait a second, why did you give up last day and claim scum (inadvertantly) yet it's only now you want to tell us you were a cop? That's like when a scummy player gets called on a bluff and for some reason isn't lynched, then only the next day does he defend himself and roleclaim.
