Stolen from yabba's post on page 1 -montgomery wrote:Also, sorry for the triple post but could someone please clarify what AtE means?
Appeal to Emotion (AtE)- For example, guilt-tripping players like "You'll be sorry to see me flip town when you get me lynched!" This usually implies a lack of inner resources to actually give an intelligent response as to why they shouldn't be lynched. Avoid.
I'd also like to point out that trying to argue while emotionally stressed, upset, or even ridiculously excited is sub-optimal. Clear, level-headed thoughts are ultimately what win out, especially since we play 3-week deadlines 'round these parts, so we all have time to think about it. Even if you are lynched, your statements don't die with you; we can always view them later. Keep your cool as much as possible.FlayTheScum 1:33 am

@montgomery-- I think your confused. Dekes is seemingly dismissing something because it happened early in day one, and he and I've actively trying to find out why. However, I think somehow there was a miscommunication and we're figuring it out. Even still Dekes isnt high on my radar as a few others are.-

Oh you.Mob-91 wrote:So, how about Pride & Prejudice & Zombies?
Blech. You're placing a vote whilst on the fence. Also, how do you manage to forget a game you've posted TWICE in? With the advent of subscriptions and bookmarks and fun crap like that, I don't see how you managed that.kyle-97 wrote:Makorbreak needs to chill. Not really liking her play, but that could be just her taking stuff to personal.
VOTE: Makeorbreak
@Makeorbreak: Who's do you think is scum right now and what do you think of the game so far?
Y'know, we're clearly hitting a wall here in terms of Makeorbreak, but I adamantly believe that this is sort of how she plans on going about the game. kyle fencesitting on her makes my mind spin though, and I think that's worthy of scrutiny. The only gripe I have is that him flipping one way or the other probably isn't that good of a clue to Makeorbreak's alignment. :\
@Beanman: Suspicions? You've sorta hinted at Makeorbreak, but your posting isn't terribly transparent. Help me out here.yabbaguy ~ Winning without actually winning.

I read your post, was a good read, very informative. People should listen to those opening IC posts, they're good stuff.yabbaguy wrote:(quickpost)

As for your question about suspicions. Well, to be honest, the Makeorbreak fiasco has my brain spinning, and at the point where she said she was crying, I became completely confused and lost all focus at the task at hand. She may be calming down as you suggested, but when talking with Adrien, no long after, she offered quite a bit of self information. She did cast her vote for opportunistic bandwagon, She did omgus, but then she offered no real personal opinions on other's in the game. She just stated someone else's opinions, and then tried to derail a conversation in which she was being proded to give her own opinions. She has been very counterproductive in the towns search for scum the entire game so far(albeit it's still relatively young.) It all screams scum to me, but it also screams "I'm so new to the game, that I don't understand almost any of the basic principles of strategy in the game." However I am also pretty confident that the next couple of days, will cement my opinion of her one way or the other.
My next suspicion is on kyle. First, I don't believe he forgot about the game. Second, when he returned, and offered his opinion on Adrien, in which(in my opinion) he completely took Adrien's post at 54 out of context. I don't even see where Adrien was defending you, our IC, but more trying to put pressure on Dekes to produce some information. I could be wrong about this however. I do agree with his opinions about the IC being treated equal in the game, and I do agree with his very brief description of his opinion on Makeorbreak. Still, he's still one of my top suspicions at this time.
While he's not at the top of my Radar, Dekes is still on it, but more for overtly extremely defensive stance he took, when I simply made a comment on something he said. It set off warning bells in my head.-

EBWOB, ok, after re-reading page 3, I am even more suspicious of Kyle. He basically stole Dekes' view on the post, and tried to play it off as his own, and then asked the same question yabba did. I'm sorry, but after being accused of active lurking, and then coming in, and only offering previous views that other people had, and offering nothing of your own personal views. As an SE he doesn't get to play the same card Makeorbreak pulled and just get away with it.

Oh shi-...a lot has been going on in the past 20 hours.
Okay, first off:
@Beanman
Yeah, I really have to start reading carefully. It's no use for a townie to get into trouble only because I skimmed some of the posts. On my second read of your post I see that you were referring to the scummbudying part as well. Of course (scum-)buddying is always a bad thing to do and will always look suspicious whether it's Day 1 or LyLo but what I meant was (and what I actually wrote) is that even newbie scum should realize that defending your buddy on page 2 with no danger of being about to get lynched will look awfully suspicious and they should know better than that.
Next up:
montgomery#104
On the contrary. I myself questioned yabba's motives on his very first Day 1-post. In the end, it was a misunderstanding on my part but nonetheless I have no problems with analyzing posts as early as possible.
Then I originally wanted to refrain from talking about the Makeorbreak incident because pretty much everything has been said about it. But anyways, here's my two cents. If you have stuff going on in your real life than by all means sort it out first. Mafiascum is after all just a game and should never interfere with the important stuff.
If that 's your game strategy, however - and this is what I'm leaning towards at the moment - , then good luck. All the things you've been doing so far (active lurking, OMGUS voting, AtE-ing, blatantly going off-topic) are as anti-town as you can get and you are bound to draw A LOT of suspicion on you. But I have to admit, town might be able to use some of the information that were produced while you were being attacked. Especially kyle's very un-SE-y post, which has been addressed multiple times already.
Oh, and montogomery's bit about your age differences is mighty interesting. What's that all about?
And another few couple of things. I didnt like tanstalas' #66 post. He did pretty much exactly the same I did to extract some information out of yabba with the exception that he took Adriens advice and FoS'd yabba instead of voting him. But that may very well be just town cautious and willing to learn.
And I'd like to hear more from Tuxhedoh. He suggested I might be scumbuddying after my second post, backpedaled later on when asked about it and then pretty much disappeared although a lot has been going on.-

No, I'm not. I've contributed some game content, albeit not a ton, haven't been using massive uses of AtE, and don't lurk and hammerfail like she did. I have no idea how your vote is still on me Adrien.Adrien C wrote:

Oh, wow, did I mess up the vote count again? I've got to get better at this. Again, my apologies.
I think it's fixed now. Please let me know if it's not.For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Of course you want to hear from me as I'm the only person that suspects you.Dekes wrote:And I'd like to hear more from Tuxhedoh. He suggested I might be scumbuddying after my second post, backpedaled later on when asked about it and then pretty much disappeared although a lot has been going on.
I hardly backpedaled. I'm a noob. I stated as much in my introductory post. I voted you because you felt that need to inform us all of your choice of using a randomizer to decide your vote during RVS. I thought that was an interseting bit of information to include while we essentially had no reason to suspect anything other than a random vote.
Your next response addressed yabba, but didn't question me at the time, you had an opportunity to question my vote, as well as add extra information, but you chose to validate tanstalas as town.
At this time you've done nothing to prove your not scum, or scumbuddying. my vote still stands.
HOWEVER.... in theory, would it be poor form for me to jump the bandwagon and vote kyle?
