General Mafia Game Rules
1. This is a game. The goal is to have fun, and personal attacks will not be tolerated. Don't say another player is a moron; say why his argument is moronic.
2. Communication outside the thread is banned, unless specifically permitted by your role pm. Any roles which are permitted to discuss with other players may do so from receipt of role PM until the official start of the game, and at night.
3. If you're dead, YOU MAY NOT POST. Not even a 'bah.'
4. If I make a mistake, feel free to PM me about it.
5.
is reserved for me, your moderator. Do not use it, or you will be modkilled.
6. You may not quote, or pretend to quote, any information communicated to you by PM from me. This will result in modkill.
7. If you are modkilled, you will lose, regardless of whether your 'side' goes on to win the game.
8. All forms of cryptography, along with invisible and small text, are prohibited on pain of modkill.
9. I reserve the right to edit or clarify any of the rules contained within this post, though I hope to high Heaven not to have to.
Fonzie's Modding Policy Disclaimers:
1) A Fonz game will not contain cults unless the possibility is made quite clear beforehand, or strongly implied by a game's flavour.
2) Should a Fonz game feature Cops, they will be subdivided into Cops and Sane Cops. Sane Cops, as per the name, are guaranteed sane; if the rolename is simply Cop, make assumptions at your peril.
3) Night actions resolve in the following order:
1. Roleblocks
2. Redirections
3. Protections
4. Any action not fitting into any of the other categories
5. Kills
6. Investigations
Combi-roles (for example, Jailkeepers) will always resolve in the class of the highest component of their action.
Game-specific bastardry:
1. This game will not feature votes, per se. You can type
Vote: X
if you like, but it will be about as effect as saying Xyzzy! Or, indeed, being Xyzzy.
2. This game is a daystart.
3. Days will begin at 1800 GMT on a Wednesday (or as soon as I can get to the thread thereafter), and will end at 1800GMT on the sunday of the following week (12 days later).
4. Nights will, therefore, run from 1800GMT Sunday to 1800GMT on the subsequent Wednesday.
5. During each day, all players must cast a ballot, ranking all other living players from the one they would most like to lynch (Numbered 1) to the one they would least like to lynch (numbered 8, or whatever is the number of living players -1 on that day). A ballot should be submitted in the following format, with correct bolding:
Official Ballot:
1. Adolf Hitler
2. Josef Stalin
3. Mao Zedong
4. Pol Pot
5. Francisco Franco
6. Josip Broz Tito
7. George Walker Bush
8. A Fluffy Bunny
Self-voting isn't possible, and including yourself on a ballot will render the ballot invalid. Leaving anyone still living off the ballot will render it invalid.
6. Valid ballots, once submitted, cannot be withdrawn or amended.
7. There will be no prods or replacements in this game: anyone failing to submit a valid ballot on a given game day will be modkilled. The modkills will take place AFTER the lynch.
8.
Resolution of voting
: At deadline, the thread will be locked, and the first-place votes counted. If one player has an outright majority, then that player will be lynched. If not, then the player with the lowest nonzero number of first-placed votes will be eliminated from lynch contention, and any vote cast for him reassigned to that voter's number two preference. If this does not produce a player with a majority, then the player with the next fewest votes is eliminated. This will continue until one player has an outright majority.
9. Players with equal numbers of counting votes will be eliminated simultaneously, unless this will cause all but one candidate to be eliminated. If this is the case, then lowest average vote position (or LAVP for short) will serve as a tiebreaker. This will be calculated by adding up the position of each player on every other ballot, and dividing by the number of ballots cast.
10. In the case of a tie at the end of this process, the lynch shall be resolved by lowest average voting position. In the virtually impossible situation that these are also tied, there will be no lynch.
11. Day will only end in one of the two following situations: A) The deadline hits or B) The ballots cast are such that the game is effectively over. Otherwise, there will be a twilight period lasting from the submission of the last ballot to the deadline.
12.
All
win conditions are mutually exclusive, and the game will end immediately upon the achievement by any party of its win condition.
The town win condition is as follows:
You win when all antitown elements have been eliminated, provided that at least one pro-town player survives.
