I guess it's probably more a personal taste in what I expect from a set-up really. I generally prefer playing in games you have a decent amount of control over what happens, which is why I mostly stick with Mini Normals. In this there are few limits to what could possibly be out there, which makes short and long term planning (especially as scum) quite hard, with some bizarre, unpredictable thing happening to mess it all up. Even town felt this in the end, with a framer around which nobody could predict. I know there will always be unknown roles/powers in any games, but perhaps my threshold is lower and revels in being able to predict things with some accuracy.zoraster wrote: Do you think so? I liked the mafia day talk strategy! I was kind of hoping one of you would get caught out

- Happy Scumday!
I was even going to state this earlier, that if Zang was the last mafia, my hat is off to him for pulling the wool over our eyes.Hoopla wrote:ZANG YOU'RE A GENIUS. I LOVE YOU.
or maybe the town is an ungenius. i don't know.
Zang earned this one.
GrimmyShowv/la on weekend until further notice.

That was awesome Zang. I basically gave up on the game when Fishy out did me, even though I knew damn well he was the other JoaT. He made it really friggen obvious.
Had a lot of fun posting random pictures and insulting the town though.
Had to bite my tongue SO many times when you all were like "OH NOES! WE HAVE 5 PLAYERS! IT'S MYLO!""Never have I seen anybody glorify their own lynch."

gg. I had a lot of fun with that game while I was alive, even though I didn't yield a lot of info I had a blast of a time trying to manipulate my power role to be beneficial. I'll post some more about what I was trying to do with the word tracker later.

The town lost because of
- A lost cryptokey
- A miscounted NL
- A framer
Ah well. So it goes.
My analysis of the MNSJOATs is that, with shams and treestumping, they were somewhat broken. UK's claim made it easy for me, but even otherwise, the town JOAT was always able to shamclaim. If the scum didn't counter, the town JOAT was clear. If the scum did counter, they both treestump. The net effect, if played perfectly, would have been neither role in the game past d1.-

This is a good critique of the role that occurred to me as the actual situation was developing. I think part of the basic problem was that there was unevenness with the shams. Shams really should have been targettable by both lynch AND mafia kill. OR they should have been targettable by neither. By doing it just the one way, it really opened up potential unbalance in a way that really had no purpose.Fishythefish wrote:The town lost because of

I really put a lot of thought into how to play this role, and I figured the best bet was to just try and play it straight and see if I could get people to say the word I picked. It wasn't until after my first two attempts that I realized I could use a sham account as the word and just get people to say the name of the sham. I then thought of the "obsessive compolsive word educator" and thought that it might have some degree of forcing scum to say the word by not wanting to outwardly appear like they wanted me to die by suicide during the night; hoping that a scummy person would say the word when prompted. Then I created the sham based word. Gelid was the day two word, not billet-doux.
I worked through my fake claim forever, making sure it was perfect. I left off some words that I could use as a sham later on. I thought I screwed myself in my original joke claim about the macho selector because I accidentally left in the part about "you are the town macho neutral..." since my original pm said "you are the town word tracker..."
My original, full, real role pm:
My cryptoclaims below... On day one I had the choice between TNM and Espeonage. On day two I only had Espeonage again.zoraster wrote:You are the town Word Use Tracker. Every night (including Night 0), you may pick a word from the list below. If someone other than you uses that word the following day, the next night you may track someone in addition to picking a new word. In order to use your power, you must link me to the post that uses that word in your PM with your target.
You may use the word yourself, but it does not count if they quote you or intended to quote you.
The words you may select are dictionary.com’s word-of-the-day for February: mondegreen, gelid, aubade, pecuniary, distrait, eschew, ignoramus, approbation, vitiate, tarradiddle, coquetry, quietus, cupidity, billet-doux, vivify, inexorable, hynagogic, duplicity, gastronome, egregious, bombast, fractious, fructuous, Arcanum, gregarious, mulct, supplicate, quixotic.
When you track someone, you will see who, if anyone, that player visited that night or the previous day. Any action that targets a player will get a result. Some roles may visit more than one player a night.
Town: You win when all mafia, sks and any other malicious third parties are eliminated.

It wasn't until the last crypto post that I realized that you could just post anything and were not required to auto-generate a code...i tracked espeonage -- he did not go anywhere -- i was told "You tracked Espeonage, but he didn't visit anyone last night." --
@scum- if I had stayed off the hoopla lynch wagon would you still have NK'ed me? I was really surprised when I was NK (but didn't realize the setup for the DeathNote lynch of course) since I was wishy washy about Hoopla.

Bugger, another loss! I thought it was too unlikely there would be a gun framer, but this is only my third game of mafia so I wouldn't really know, in hindsight I should have checked through other games. I was almost going to suggest we no-lynch and have Zang protect Grimmy just so we could rule out that possibility, but by that stage I thought I was facing such an uphill battle with trying to convince Zang (Zang you played really well on that last day) and Grimmy that Ani was scum (sorry Ani) that I didn't want to over-complicate things. I'm happy I managed to convince Grimmy in the end, even though we lost the game.
This game was both really fun and incredibly frustrating (trying to convince people Hoopla was scum and trying to defend the fact I was the only VT). It's funny that scum thought they were going to lose because I was pretty sure town were going to lose after day 2 given some of the silly things town were doing, I was really beginning to wish I was scum.
Anyway, thanks zoraster for modding a fun game and congrats scum .-
