Right now, the general hate towards me has gained so much momentum that everyone has this certain expectation of me, and every action I perform is automatically placed in this area of douchebagginess - whereas they would normally have been brushed off as a slightly taunting remark tops or a harmless tongue-in-cheek comment, hence why people like Shattered Viewpoint think they can push their opinion through by threatening with things like 'if you don't get lynched I'll replace out', hoping other players will chime in.

Both die either way? I dunno. If you REALLY want to wait until night to get rid of him, I'd be willing to abandon the wagon for my Leafsnail case. Still don't see why the order matters... the only thing that could possibly change both dying in my scenario is a mafia doctor being on Leafsnail. But that requires for a maf doc to be in the game, and I'm not sure how common that is.
