Rules
General Information
1. Read the rules. This is important.
2. This is a
bastard setup
. This is mostly due to other players and not the mod, but I wanted to put fair warning.
3. Random.org will be used heavily. In addition to assigning roles to players, it will determine the order that roles are sent out. Roles that are the same (if indeed any are the same) will not be sent out at the same time.
4. Even though this game calls for breaking some normal rules, that does not allow you to break OTHER game's rules or the general conduct rules of this site.
5. Lynching will, unless altered by some role, be done by Majority vote. That is, when 50%+1 votes are placed on a player, that person will be lynched.
6. All conversations with the mod should be done in
Bold
7.
My color will be blue... but you may use it.
8. You may ask to prod a player at any time.
9. Rules may be changed at any time.
10. The moderator has the final say but is not always right. If I've made a mistake on something like a vote count, just bold it and I'll get to it. If you have a problem with the way I'm running the game, rather than making a snarky comment, it is almost always more productive to PM me.
11. Deadlines are 2 weeks for Days (judged from when I open the game) and 48 hours for nights (judged from when I close the game). If the deadline is reached, there will be either no lynch or no action.
12. Unvoting is unnecessary. For a vote to count it must be done in bold:

. Misspelling vote may (or may not) make the vote not count. Misspelling or abbreviating another player's name when voting will still count as a vote so long as the target of the vote is identifiable.
13. I normally do vote counts appended to the top of each page, but given the mechanics of this game, I will only be posting vote counts from my account frequently.
14. Order of Actions in this game is secret. Sorry.
15. Mafia will receive a fake role pm upon entering the game, but may also request other fake role pms.
16. Role PMs will be revealed upon death.
Actions SPECIFICALLY disallowed by this game
1. Allowing others to access your account.
2. Talking about the game when you are dead unless otherwise allowed by your role.
3. Use of overly abusive, racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. language. Generally personal conduct should be the same as any other game.
4. Players must still play to win
5. Players must still follow the mod's orders.
6. Lying or tricking the MOD is prohibited.
7. You may not pursue anything outside the general ethical expectations on a member. For example, you may not hack into another person's account.
8. Screen captures are NOT allowed. Sorry, I just didn't think this was easy enough to counter.
9. Players not in the game may NOT post.

Actions specifically ALLOWED
1. Conversations about the game may take place anywhere on mafiascum that is
publicly viewable
, but conversations that are private are forbidden unless otherwise allowed by role. Once you are dead in the game, you are prohibited from taking part in conversations anywhere about the game.
2. You may use codes, invisible text, etc.
3. You may pretend to be the mod.
4. You may quote role PMs.
5. You may use a sham or fake account with certain restrictions (listed in its own section).
6. Other things may be allowed, but
should be cleared with the mod first
. Generally to be acceptable, there should be some plausible way for the opposing side to counter the technique AND it should not greatly reduce the enjoyment of the game.
Sham or Fake Accounts
1. You may use sham or "fake" accounts for virtually any reason. However this is restricted.
2.
Before posting with a sham account you must notify the moderator with your real account in the game!
Failure to do so will result in penalty up to and including modkill, power role restriction, force replacement, and other penalties.
3. Any account that posts in the game may be voted for. A lynch on a sham account will lynch the real account of a person. Votes will
not
be combined. Sham accounts cannot, however, be the target of any other actions.
4. You may use no more than two sham accounts per game day and unless noted somewhere else (e.g. a role PM), these accounts may, in total (combined), not exceed 5 posts per game day and never exceed the number of posts made by your real account that game day.
5. Sham accounts (or any other alternate accounts) may NOT talk about the game outside this thread.

A quick note: I've told mith that fake accounts are allowed in this game, but to make your life easier and get your account activated quicker, send him a PM with your new account's name.
Remember that you need to inform me of your fake account before posting. It might make your life easier if you tell me at the same time as telling mith, but this isn't required.

Okie dokie. I know that Esp is Australian, and the international date line frankly really confuses me, so I'm going to start the game and hope he shows up shortly... perhaps at 3 or 4 in the morning... in the future. or in the past. However that date line works. Just don't talk to my grandfather, please.

My girlfriend drinks cider as there's often no gluten in it (Strongbow is gluten free for example), and it's a good substitute as it's roughly the same alcohol content, looks similar, comes in a similar glass, etc. Just a side note.

. I know some mods like that for whatever reason, but I find it confusing when doing my vote counts, and it's messed me up before. If you want to clarify for the players who you're unvoting, do it unbolded, please.

@mod: if a person is lynched or NK'ed, do we learn the sham accounts associated with that person? Or do the shams just die a lonely death?
It's a lonely death. Sham accounts are not revealed upon death.
Also, elmo from that other thread brings up a good point, so I'll clarify: for the purposes of win conditions, a treestumped player is considered eliminated.

I'll get some prods out. DocPotter is being replaced out. DocPotter asked to be replaced, and this is the second consecutive time he's done that in one of my games, so he won't be invited to my future games.

I just wanted to clarify that yes, treestumping does mean that powers are unusable. The only thing a treestumped person can do is post about the game here, in public mafiascum threads, and -- if scum -- in the QT at the appropriate times.

On my blackberry (thanks for the huge photos uk) so no tags. But no. I said YOU are not allowed to post when dead. I did NOT say your ACCOUNT cannot post when dead. Sham accounts are prohibited too.

Some thoughts:
1. I can't believe town won. I really can't. UK ended up screwing herself and then hoopla got offed and both ythill and shaft.ed had zang pegged as scum. But town miscounted and wasted a lynch which led to a loss.
2. Thanks for playing! It was fun. I especially liked the opening with people trying to figure out how to play without many rules on them.

4. Please don't hesitate to give criticism/comments so long as they're constructive!
5. Obviously I screwed up night 1 and that gave people information. Whoops!
