I've found this post in the list of posts by me, but not in the main thread. Is there a way to quickly find it?

16th vote count of day 1:

Carl Sagan - 2 (Mcgriddle, Unsight)
Ythan - 1 (mariomaster777)
Netopalis - 1 (Carl Sagan)
Mcgriddle - 1 (Ythan)
Julano - 1 (Fiyr)

Not voting (FluffyGiggles, Netopalis, Julano)

With 9 alive it's 5 to lynch.

If I made any mistakes, let me know asap.

I think the strategy does not fit a mafia player. Carl is
1. Attacking the IC, the most experienced player here.
2. drawing a lot of attention to himself.
3. got the game properly started in the first place.

Plus, if as mafia he did successfully get Netapolis lynched, that would be even more negative attention on him when we saw Netapolis' alignment.

No, I'm saying that a mafia
wouldn't
act like that. Hence, town.

WIFOM. If everyone thought this way, mafia could act as scummy as they want and not get lynched for it.

Oh, I think I see what you mean. And yet I think my point still stands.

If acting scummy (attack on IC and IC only) is likely to get a player lynched, they will not do this. The 'too scummy to be scum' argument is, to most people, a lot weaker than the original. Bear in mind that this is his first game as well, it seems likely to me that a first-timer will be likely to play their best normally and not immediately go for the double-bluff.

He also got the game started, a point which is exempt from the WIFOM stuff.

And yet you assume a new player will go for the single bluff? What's to stop someone in a newbie game from just doing something scummy?

As I said, I don't think it is scummy.

the thought process:
- I am mafia. How shall I play this?
- I'll stand out by attacking rather than blending in and answering the questions like everyone else
- I'll attack the experienced guy.

Seems odd.

Actually that is possible; he didn't answer the original questions. What are you basing that on?

It seems pretty obvious that this is a gimmicky alt. I really doubt someone would do this in their very first game.

Found this, 'twas on page 2.

I think this was an attempt to get the game moving. McGriddle and Netopalis were the two significant posters at that point.

I'm not looking for one, I was just clarifying as you asked.

And alt means alternate account.

Second accounts aren't supposed to be in newbie games. Though I guess that doesn't rule it out.

I wasn't looking for an alternative. I had commented about the reverse-WIFOM nature of the situation, and when you asked I explained, and you seem to have taken it as criticism when I actually agree with your statements.

It's not criticism, it's that you're hard for me to read.

Even though you make a lot of posts, very few tell me anything about what you're thinking. It feels like you're being very careful about what and how you say things. Right now I'm trying to figure out if it's scummy or if it's just how your play style works.

It may come off like criticism (and some of it might be), but it just means that I'm just going to have to keep poking you until I think I have a read on you. ^_^

It's playstyle. If there is anything you want to know then by all means ask.

How do you feel about one player defending another?

If you say Player A defending Player B, does that tell you anything? If, later on, you see Player B defending Player A then would that tell you anything?

I don't really get town reads, so usually when I defend someone it's because I'm attacking the attacker's argument. This often comes across as a defense, but when I see it, as long as it isn't particularly persistent over multiple issues, I usually don't think much of it. If it goes both ways though, that can also raise flags.

My vote is now staying on McGriddle until he dies, as it will in every other game I play with him. He knows why.

This is why I hate you. You heckle me into wanting to just leave this frickin game forever. I am finishing up my games here on mafiascum, then I am going to be out for good.
