With time still left to go after Riceballtail's shooting, you decide that the next victim is CSL. You're tempted to "borrow" Riceballtail's rope and use it to tie a noose around him, but then you remember—it's Dreamland. You don't dream about what you're not thinking about. So you ask StrangerCoug to forget CSL, but not his belongings so you can search them. The cat complies.

Your search is more fruitful than the last, returning an arsenal of illegal weapons and other evidence of him being a domestic terrorist. The town trying to save StrangerCoug again has evened up.

StrangerCoug's alarm went off. Another day, another $58. There were times when StrangerCoug liked his job, and times he didn't. This was one of those times he didn't. Tuesdays were barely much better than Mondays, and he had the nagging suspicion that there'd be overtime today.

The nekomata sat on the living room couch. StrangerCoug took surprise at her presence.

"What are you doing here?" he asked her.

"Did you forget yesterday afternoon already, StrangerCoug?" the nekomata responded. "This is all a dream."

"Yeah. One in which you're tormenting me. Now disappear."

The trick with CSL didn't work with the nekomata. StrangerCoug didn't have

control of his dream.

"Nice try," the nekomata responded, blowing a raspberry afterward.

StrangerCoug noticed the nekomata holding a somewhat large metal container. She took a drink of the contents, which startled him.

"What the hell is

" StrangerCoug yelled.

"Lamp oil," the nekomata responded. "Good stuff, if you ask me."

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR GODDAMN MIND!?

" StrangerCoug had completely lost it.

The nekomata belched. Out of her breath came a brief fireball, scorching StrangerCoug's face.

"Don't feel bad—that happened to Fishythefish too," the nekomata said, trying to get on StrangerCoug's good side.

He decided that he'd had enough of her, so moved on. As he entered the kitchen, he was shocked by the sight of Fishythefish's dead body. Not only was the nekomata clearly right, but somebody had opened StrangerCoug's knife drawer and plunged a steak knife into Fishythefish's back. This was going to be a long day.

A scream followed shortly after—that of Anon's. StrangerCoug quickly put his socks and shoes on and ran outside to see what happened. What happened was that Anon took a nasty fall from his roof—one it was hard to help. He had landed on a thorny plant and died before StrangerCoug could help him. And the person who threw him off got clean away.

It wasn't even 4:45 AM yet and it already seemed to be one of StrangerCoug's worst days. Could it possibly improve?
