Almaster: The reason that I backed off of the Monkey wagon is actually option (c), that I didn't feel that the questioning was productive. We were talking in circles, and it didn't seem like either of us were going to budge. Rather than wasting the town's attention on a pointless circular argument, I switched over to Sakako, who I also feel has a fairly strong case against him. In the meantime, I'll be watching Monkey and, if I feel that I have anything to put a stronger case on him, I'll be renewing the attack there.
Sakako: While your list is good, I feel that there are two problems with it: You largely suspect the people that others have suspected and you bring up town reads without really justifying them. Try fleshing out a bit more why you feel that each of your town reads are town.My posts are best read in the calm, reassuring voice of Morgan Freeman. I don't sound anything like him, but they sound best that way.

This sounds to me like a tricksy way of saying "I backed off Monkey because the wagon because it was less popular and got on the Sakako wagon because it was more popular." Regardless of what your intentions are, though, who do you actually think is more scummy - Monkey or Sakako (e.g., if both were at L-1, who would you hammer)?Net wrote:Almaster: The reason that I backed off of the Monkey wagon is actually option (c), that I didn't feel that the questioning was productive. Well, that's a tricky question. I think that Monkey is more likely to be scum, but I also think that I can't prove it yet. I'd hammer him in that situation. The reason that I switched was due to a lack of evidence and our conversation was making it fairly obvious that he wasn't going to budge any time soon.My posts are best read in the calm, reassuring voice of Morgan Freeman. If it's a lack of evidence, then why do you think Monkey is more likely to be scum? Logically, wouldn't the player you think is scummiest have the most evidence piling against them? On the other point, why does Monkey need to "budge" for you to have your vote on him? With the exception of (maybe) Sakako, since when do scum lie down and concede cases against them?Netopalis wrote:Well, that's a tricky question. It's rare I find this many scum candidates among the town. Reading Sakako again... I'm in limbo with him. He's seeminglytoo scummyto be scum. I know people think it's a null tell or logical fallacy, but I don't think 1) that Sakako is an experienced enough player to really use a null tell like that to his advantage on purpose and 2) that Sakako-scum would be as blatantly defeatist in his attitude. I kinda empathize with his frustration to an extent: I remember back when I seemingly couldn't win a game so I just kept on playing newbie games or giving up when I would always get run up to a lynch wagon. Hell, I even made a GD topic asking people why I suck so much.
At the same time, that whole thing is VERY AtE, which is scummy, I guess. I just really want a kyle lynch for D1, as I think it'd be more helpful in the long run. I would probably lynch Sakako today if worst came to worst, but a MonkeyMan lynch is out of the question for me. I'm just not seeing his scummyness, and Neto's case on him is full of null tells IMHO.
I do think a Sakako flip would be more beneficial, information-wise, since his wagon has had the most interesting activity on it. A kyle99 lynch might not be as informational... but it'd remove that WIFOM target for the rest of the game. EVERY game I've played with kyle99 has turned into him either being a scum lynch or a mislynch at some point. Never a night kill.green shirt thursdays-

Almaster: There's enough evidence to convince me, but not enough that I can establish a coherent case. By budging, I was referring to the cyclical nature of our discussion. We were getting absolutely nowhere, and neither of us was willing to change our viewpoints. My posts are best read in the calm, reassuring voice of Morgan Freeman. I could understand this mentality in some games, but this game has a lot of good D1 content. If we lynch Kyle because he is, in fewer words, "hard to read" and he flips town, the lynch will have been a complete waste and we will have gotten absolutely nowhere.xRECOKNERx wrote: kyle99 lynch might not be as informational... but it'd remove that WIFOM target for the rest of the game. Sakako could be newbie town or newbie scum, but im leaning newbie scum, mostly not only because of his early play behavior, but because he and Neto seem very reluctant to attack each other on anything, increasing the likelyhood that they are scum partners imho. I think this is poor scum play rather than newbie town play. Townies are usually more prone to disagree with each other, especially considering the level of scumminess both of them have shown.-

Uhm... what? I voted Neto right at the start. Sure, it was a flimsy reason, but it was still an attack. Don't misrepresent me.MonkeyMan576 wrote:Sakako could be newbie town or newbie scum, but im leaning newbie scum, mostly not only because of his early play behavior, but because he and Neto seem very reluctant to attack each other on anything, increasing the likelyhood that they are scum partners imho.
