While the lights in your end of the building have died, your computer monitor stays on. You fumble around in the dark for a bit before finding your webcam and hooking it up, placing it on top of the monitor. Checking who else is on video chat, you see that your external connection's gone, but the local intranet's alive and kicking, with nine computers besides your own hooked up.

"Hey guys, does anyone have any idea what’s going on?" you ask as you join the conference. Your system administrator, Trumpet of Doom, replies, "Armed mutiny of some sort was what I heard. We're in quarantine so that whoever the people are who want to kill everyone, they can't get to us. I'll keep my ears open and tell you if I hear anything; in the meantime, I'll give you a map of our little section of the building. Y'all can get some sleep, you might need it."

The next morning, you wake up and notice two emails from Trumpet in your inbox. One is labeled "READ THIS FIRST." You open it and see this:

The killers are among us. There are two of them, and they kill with knives. They came for me last night; I won't be alive by the time you read this. I took the liberty of giving one of you the codes to lock a specific room's door for a night, and of giving another some remote desktop software so they can see what one person a night is doing. The rest of you, eliminate the killers... one way or another.

The other email is labeled "Your Role - Private Information." You read it, then join the video conference, which has now become nine-way. Time to try to save yourselves.

8. Prods will go out after 72 hours without a post (unless the player is on V/LA). The proddee will then have

48 hours to post in thread or they will be replaced (edited 12/25/09). If you post before I get around to handing out the prod, you avoid the prod; similarly, if you return before I find a replacement, you can stay in the game. Prod #4 will equal replacement.
9. If enough players are voting for No Lynch to make any other majority impossible, the day will end in No Lynch.
10. When a lynch is reached, the game will enter twilight until I come to lock the thread.

All players alive during that day may talk during twilight.

11. Nights will last approximately 72 hours.
12. If you die, stop posting. You are allowed one "bah" post provided it contains no game-related content (something like "Go town!" is acceptable; something like "My tracking results were X and Y" is not).
13. If, for whatever reason, I decide to edit your post, it will be in

The day opens with a flurry of accusations, but discussion soon drops. Eventually, mykonian suggests CSL is being less than fully open about his allegiances. Three others agree with him.

"No, no, don't kill me! I'm the one with the lockdown codes!" cries CSL.

GinzkeyPlatz quickly responds, "Bull.

I'm

The eight of you rush into CSL's office and attack, beating him to a pulp. It isn't until after he's dead that one of you thinks to check his inbox. It turns out that, while he couldn't actually shut someone off for a night, he was still on your side. You head back to your room, harrowed and unsure of what awaits the next morning.

mykonian takes roll. "Chaco, you're here; kyle99, you're here; GinzkeyPlatz... GinzkeyPlatz..." He stops. "Uh oh. drowmage, you wanna check on her?"

"Sure," replies drowmage. She gets up and runs to GinzkeyPlatz's room; when she gets there, she tells the rest of you, "Yeah, she's dead. And it looks like she was the one who could protect people from kills."

joe478 asks, "Can you get the codes?"

"Uhh... no. They're in a locked file."

Well, damn.

"Well, I think Joe's one of the killers," says mykonian. "Clearly he knew either CSL or GP didn't really have the codes."

"Did CSL have a death wish or something? That was really stupid of him," complains Chaco, and a few of you agree with him.

"drowmage, speak up. You're not usually this quiet," says mykonian. A voice sounding only vaguely like drowmage responds, "Sorry, I'm drowmage's alternate personality. Call me kunkstar."

hitogoroshi says, "You know, I think kyle's been a bit off, but myk here's worse."

curiouskarmadog agrees. "Yeah, there's X, Y, and Z that he did that make me think he's one of the killers."

kunkstar7 and kyle99 decide that sounds too incriminating to ignore. All of you charge into mykonian's room, pick him up, and throw him headfirst through his monitor. kunkstar7 wipes mykonian's blood off the shattered CRT and sees... "Crap. He wasn't doing anything."

"Do you mean 'not killing' anything, or 'anything' anything?" asks hitogoroshi.

"From what I can see of his role... 'anything' anything."

Shaken, you return to your... office... it feels like a cell at this point. You start to go to sleep, but shudder at the thought of what might happen before tomorrow.

What a restful night. You feel like you've slept for five days, and as you log back into the video chat, you feel refreshed and ready to go.

However, your rejuvenation turns to consternation when you notice, again, that one of you is not connecting. You realize it's curiouskarmadog who's failing to join you, and you run to his room to take a look.

What you see is not a pretty sight. curiouskarmadog's corpse is a sloppy mess, and you instinctively look away. Turning to his inbox, you find that he was just another honest worker, though one who couldn't do anything special to help find the killers.

You think for a bit. Three versus two... the prospect of guessing wrong again sends shivers down your spine. You return to your office and prepare for another day of discussion, knowing all too well that your life is on the line.

You all agree that kyle99's been very suspicious, but you hold off on making any accusations until you're sure that he's scum: one wrong vote by the wrong person could seal your doom. A few of you consider kunkstar7's scumminess, but when kyle99 outright accuses kunkstar7 of being one of the killers, three of you finally decide that it's worth your time to get rid of kyle99.

You get into his office and discover... "Ooh, look, is that a knife?" asks Sotty7. You flash back to Trumpet's email to you. Moments later, kyle99's lying bleeding in his chair, his throat slit from his own knife. Yes, he was one of the mafia. You try to check his email to see if you can tell who his partner-in-crime was, but to no avail - he must have deleted that email. Even so, as you head back to your office, you feel confident that maybe there's a spark of hope after all.

This third night seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye. You wake up, feeling a sense of calm... which shifts into panic as you realize that although four of you went to sleep last night, only three are waking up today.

The three of you surviving congregate in Sotty7's office, where her corpse is sprawled over her keyboard. In contrast with the previous nights' kills, this one's actually fairly clean - just a stab in the back as opposed to the hacking over the bodies of GinzkeyPlatz and curiouskarmadog. A peek at Sotty7's inbox reveals what you'd really been hoping not to be the case: your dead corpse was the tracker in your group. Since you're all in the same room already, you figure you might as well stay there. You scan the faces of your compatriots, trying to figure out which one's responsible for the death of three of your coworkers.

You can tell immediately that this isn't going to be a pleasant task.

kunkstar7 replies, "Well, I don't think it's hitogoroshi, but I'm not going to make an absolute decision yet."

Nachomamma8 and kunkstar7 glare at each other through their monitors, while hitogoroshi tries to figure out who's the killer and who's on his side. Finally, he makes his decision. "All right, I say kunkstar7 is the killer."

You run to kunkstar7's office, only to discover that Nachomamma8 beat you there. kunkstar7's dead, having been slashed a few times and stabbed in the heart; your eyes move from his body to the bloody knife in Nachomamma8's hand to the crazed grin on his face. You hear hitogoroshi's voice behind you breathe, "...Aw, damn."

Nachomamma8 finishes turning on the lights, then pulls out a walkie-talkie from his desk. "Headquarters, this is Agent B. Come in, Headquarters."

"This is Headquarters. Go ahead."

"Mission objective has been secured, though I'm afraid we lost Agent A in the process."

"Well, good work, Agent B. Our takeover here on the outside is progressing nicely, and I'm sure we could use your expertise."

Any comments on my modding? This is my first game as a mod, so I'd like to know if there's anything I need to do better. (Besides keep up with prods... I know I need to get a little better at that.)
