While the lights in your end of the building have died, your computer monitor stays on. You fumble around in the dark for a bit before finding your webcam and hooking it up, placing it on top of the monitor. Checking who else is on video chat, you see that your external connection's gone, but the local intranet's alive and kicking, with nine computers besides your own hooked up.

"Hey guys, does anyone have any idea what’s going on?" you ask as you join the conference. Your system administrator, Trumpet of Doom, replies, "Armed mutiny of some sort was what I heard. We're in quarantine so that whoever the people are who want to kill everyone, they can't get to us. I'll keep my ears open and tell you if I hear anything; in the meantime, I'll give you a map of our little section of the building. Y'all can get some sleep, you might need it."

The next morning, you wake up and notice two emails from Trumpet in your inbox. One is labeled "READ THIS FIRST." You open it and see this:

The killers are among us. There are two of them, and they kill with knives. They came for me last night; I won't be alive by the time you read this. I took the liberty of giving one of you the codes to lock a specific room's door for a night, and of giving another some remote desktop software so they can see what one person a night is doing. The rest of you, eliminate the killers... one way or another.

The other email is labeled "Your Role - Private Information." You read it, then join the video conference, which has now become nine-way. Time to try to save yourselves.

Rules:

4. Similarly, do not quote private mod-player communications. You may paraphrase, but do not quote. If you're not sure if it crosses the line, run it by me.
5. You may PM me about anything game-related you want. However, if it's something like

please post it in thread and bold it so that I see it.
6. If I feel one is needed, I will impose a deadline. At deadline, half of a majority will be required to lynch.

There will be no reduced number of votes in LyLo.

7. V/LA: If it's in-thread, I'll see it. If it's in your sig, I'll see it. If you send me a PM, I'll see it, and I'll post it in-thread. If it's in the V/LA thread, I'll probably miss it. If I don't know about it, it's your fault. If it's too long, I'll ask for you to find your own replacement. (You may talk with your replacement before you have to leave.)
8. Prods will go out after 72 hours without a post (unless the player is on V/LA). The proddee will then have

48 hours to post in thread or they will be replaced (edited 12/25/09). If you post before I get around to handing out the prod, you avoid the prod; similarly, if you return before I find a replacement, you can stay in the game. Prod #4 will equal replacement.
9. If enough players are voting for No Lynch to make any other majority impossible, the day will end in No Lynch.
10. When a lynch is reached, the game will enter twilight until I come to lock the thread.

All players alive during that day may talk during twilight.

11. Nights will last approximately 72 hours.
12. If you die, stop posting. You are allowed one "bah" post provided it contains no game-related content (something like "Go town!" is acceptable; something like "My tracking results were X and Y" is not).
13. If, for whatever reason, I decide to edit your post, it will be in

blue bold

. Don't use that style; impersonating the mod is grounds for a modkill, and I know what I did and didn't write.
14. Anything that would be illegal to actually do is also illegal to fake.
15. If I find that I've left something off, or that something needs clarification, I reserve the right to update these rules. I will tell you if/when that happens.

I'm not "calling people out" for random voting, just the lack of discussion. The whole point of the RVS is to promote discussion.
