He's one of the only people you call 'suspicious', where he is on your list isn't the end of the world.

Also, I love how Seol gets a free pass on your list, and I get burried, simply because you claim he backs his opinions up with reasoning, and I don't. That's laughable both because witholding reasoning isn't scummy, and I'm not doing it that much.

We got a scumbag here, folks.

So as to not get bogged down in semantics again, Netopalis by weak scumtell you mean not great, but nonetheless still a scumtell?

If the above is true, how does that combined with Boxman's disappearance after being called out on it, while still posting elsewhere on the site, land him in the inactive category?
How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder,
without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better,
and not the world about them?

Withholding reasoning directly hurts the town. If all players withhold reasoning, the game cannot progress. Day 1 is primarily about information, and you are withholding information.

Konowa: That is true. I guess that my thought is that it's best to prod/replace and see what someone else says, rather than just going after an inactive who made a single somewhat-scummy post. He may have forgotten to put it in his watch list or something like that.

Neto, why is my questioning "potentially scummy"? Do you feel this way about all questioning, or is something particularly off about mine? Assuming the latter, could you point out what exactly is off about it? Also, why did you share your town reads?

NB: 5 hours left until you're not allowed to complain about boxwagon anymore. :P

I happen to disagree completely, but that's largely a tangent to this discussion.

I've been very outspoken in my vote against you, and going after you for several reasons. How can you claim your vote against me is anything other than OMGUS, since I've clearly been giving reasons?

This is especially bad, since you also claim I have been 'going with the flow'. Didn't you claim my vote was the one that turned the Boxman wagon from 'harmless' to 'too big'? Between that and going after you, all in 7 pages, how can you claim I've been trying to slide by?

It's potentially scummy because a lot of your questions were really nitpicky. They seemed to be rather aggressive and, in a few cases, regarding things that just didn't matter. That being said, I only said it was potentially scummy, and it will be reevaluated as you play.

So why do you not follow your own advice in this situation? Following this train of thought, TownNet would have questioned and/or attacked someone else. Instead, you attempt to deflate Boxman's wagon by calling the speed of which it took off questionable.

Not buying it. Very happy with my vote.

No, you don't understand. The thing is....Yes, the action was scummy. Yes, I'd rather he be replaced. Yes, I find the speed disturbing. These things are not mutually exclusive.

I see. The only tell I trust is perceived inconsistency, and I find that the best way to confirm that something is inconsistency rather than misunderstanding is to ask highly specific questions.

Iecerint, 116 wrote:You may have conflated me and SC a little bit there. I see what you mean, though.

What do you think should be done about Boxman? (Be clear. Don't just say what we "shouldn't" do.) Why do you think he's ignored this game while being active elsewhere?
Iecerint, 120 wrote:I wasn't asking specifically about Boxman; I was asking about the general case. Your post 117 implies that you often ignore games in which you are under suspicion, which may imply that you think lurking to replacement is null. It now seems like you're claiming it's null for you, but is scummy in the general case. Is that accurate?

Okay, I gave it a quick glance over. I'll try to do more later.

Anyway, I can see why I've garnered votes - my post was scummy, and my vanishing certainly didn't help matters. I'm honestly not very good at starting discussion, and I usually like to jump into conversations after they've started.

As for Neto, I have to agree with the others that a few votes on a RV-ending bandwagon isn't that many, especially if it is actually in reaction to a scumtell. It isn't that great a scumtell, but it's enough to start an early bandwagon.

Anyway, I may come up with a more detailed look-through later. For now, I believe these were the two most major issues?

Hmm....Would it help to say it like this?

I felt that most of the questions were spurious and an attempt to create an issue where there was none. However, I didn't feel confident enough about the motivation in order to specifically state whether it was designed to catch scum or trip up town. This will be evaluated as compared to his play style in the future.

I think you're less likely to forget about a game as scum than as town.

While I'm not about to call Boxman a liar, since I've also forgotten about games that didn't make it to my WT, I think its a stretch at best to assume he's telling the truth to the point that you take his excuse as a towntell and unvote him, cam.

Anything in particular you want me to address, re: that vote on me?

I agree with SF...not really a towntell, but perhaps not really a scumtell either. I think that the forgetting was genuine, but I don't want to read that far into it.

I liked Neto's long analysis post. Probably partially because his suspicions are similar to my own. I was already thinking I didn't like how ML posted and unvoted without revoting. I find that counterproductive at this stage. (Haven't some other people done that too? Percy? Parh?)

I find some of sensfan's arguments bad. The OMGUS thing is wrong, since neto was voting him in the first game post after confirms. Sort of hard to argue that's OMGUS!

Also I don't like how sens compares himself to seol in post 151. I don't see them as that similar. And I don't like sens seeming angry that seol is not seen as scummy and he is. I don't know if I'm explaining it right. If people have questions I will take another try at it later.
sens in 151 wrote:Also, I love how Seol gets a free pass on your list, and I get burried, simply because you claim he backs his opinions up with reasoning, and I don't. That's laughable both because witholding reasoning isn't scummy, and I'm not doing it that much.
RE: Boxman...

I don't believe or disbelieve him at this point. I need to see him provide some analysis and content, and like make a real vote before I decide whether or not to unvote him.

Mathcam's point that a scum wouldn't forget about the game. I think he's probably right. But I don't know that boxman really did forget about the game. So I have to see more from him before I make a decision about him.
Talk nerdy to me.
