Lurking, yes. He's posted so little that I missed his presence altogether while rereading. Scum? Dunno. I don't approve of lurker lynches and always think forcing a replacement is a better idea.

if you think someone is subconsciously dropping a scum-tell, why are you warning him about it

First, I'm comparing it to his earlier posts in the game, which seemed to have less emoticons. Maybe I'm just retarded, I don't know, but I swear I've read a legit theory that supports my idea of increasing emoticon usage = scum somewhere before.

Second, I didn't really see it as warning, though you're totally fucking right and I shouldn't have brought it up now in retrospect.

Nope, Hoola, not this time.

How likely are these "are you scum" questions to get any useful response?

I'm a little nonplussed by xRECKONERx's mea culpa. It feels town.

xRECKONERx wrote:Why am I your strongest town read?
I'm trying to figure out how to explain it in more words than 'gut'. I think it might be more based on how everyone else has reacted to your posts than your posts in themselves. I'm not seeing any potential scum partner reactions there, while there are some potential "scum looking for easy target" reactions.
MacavityLock wrote:I still want to know how Reck read Hoopla as rolefishing.
I don't see what's so hard to follow. What, exactly, would you expect to discern from someone's response to "Why so eager to claim?" besides an idea of what their role is? Are scum supposed to be more or less eager to claim than townies?

(This question also goes to Hoopla, for obvious reasons.)

I think I've seen it used as a specific tell on Battle Mage somewhere, and the logic behind the theory makes sense to me. I could certainly buy that someone would be more inclined to use emoticons as scum than as town. I'm not sure that comparing MrSuave's emoticon use earlier in this game to his emoticon use now in this game makes a lot of sense, though. It's not like his alignment would have changed halfway through the day, is it?

I don't think so, but claiming so early is not a situation we need. It was more a question to probe MrSuave's understanding of the claiming process. Recently (ongoing game) a player claimed after a two-vote wagon at the start of day 3. It was not a necessary claim.

Without asking, it was already obvious that Suave had nothing more than a mechanical understanding of how a claim goes down.

Hoopla's answer

is pretty much how I read it. I do think that a nervous and under-the-gun scum might be more willing to do something "big" (claim) to potentially change the story. I certainly don't think that would go for all players, but it might with a newer and more immature player. As such, I found it to be a pretty reasonable question.

I already explained how I missed Reck's reading of it, and still disagree with him about it.

Hello, Nuwen. Hello, all you jerks who failed to greet me within two minutes of the mod note.

Vote: Toro.

FOS: ekiM, Nuwen, Hoopla.

MrSuave should request a day vigilante role PM from the mod, then kill himself.

SophistricDoctine joke-voted MrSuave to L-3 and got yelled at. Immediately afterward, Hoopla put Suave at L-2 and no one seemed to care. Noted.

Oh, and hello, RECK.
