WOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!!!!
This was a really amazing game, and the scum played a very good game.
Here's our quick topic (I think hayker would be fine with it);
Mason Quicktopic
First of all, Mastin's roleblocker claim was a good way of keeping himself in the game another day. CKD's desire to lynch Mastin day 1, had me completely fooled, and I was positive that he was Vermillion. ZazieR and Kublai Khan did an impressive job of distancing themselves. Theire the last scum pair that I would of considered. Kublai Khan's miller claim was very lucky, but it was amazing how he pulled it off. He deserves a scummy for best performance with a fake miller claim. I think it is safe to say that Faraday had everybody fooled for the first two days of the game. His play looked very pro-town. Last but definitely not least is SerialClergyman. Apart from KK, he's one of the other players I was positive was town. I think I was a little quick to assume he wasn't Vermillion.
Thanks iamausername for an awesome game!!! This is probably been the funnest game I have played on the site. I am really glad that I got to play the whole game."You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. -Wayne Gretzky"

the only reason I went hard at Mastin was (and no offense Mastin) he was so incredibly scummy. in out QT, I tried to get him to settle down, but he refused. He thought that he posting style is OBVtown...at any rate, I am going to have to add him to the "cant join a game he is in" list. it was such a tough read, replacing into the game.
anyway, once I claimed hider, I was done....there was no way Cer would win this game. the hider claim only bought me a night, which is what I told the mod last night. if I would have killed anyone last night (not mason)..it would have been Xyl, thought he was scum...would have had the same result for town though.
also the I think I offed, Zaz, for meta reasons....got to go back, but found something that made me believe he was scum.-

Holy hell wasn't expecting this to be over.
Erm obv I have no problems about the qt,
I'm really, really surprised I wasn't lynched. I don't think I was even voted untill the final day, but yeh.
*goes off to read green room*
My most fun game here by far, btw. Great scum-team and great players all round, and I think I'd play with everyone againare you thinking of me when you're with somebody else?-

Reading over the graveyard I'm surprised more people didn't see me as scum.
I mean I really didn't do that much, and my voting record was horrendous. But yeh, I also think I played very differently than WOT and Twilight :/
I also thought I slipped the day before, when I assumed Lowell was a Cerulean neighbour for no apparent reason.
Very fun game Iam.are you thinking of me when you're with somebody else?-

I dont have a problem with it..I just dont have it anymore....Wickedestjr wrote:CKD, are you fine with letting us see the quick topic?
will look through my messages to see...
basically it was Mastin saying a bunch of crazy shit, and me telling him he was probably wrong and he needed to settle down. It was pretty hard to follow a lot of his line of thinking much of the time.
he didnt think Zaz was scum...sort of forced that kill...and he thought VP was scum, was pretty sure he was town.
it was a tough group to replace into.-

Why should he? There was no evidence of him being it, and everyone was assuming that the last neighbour was scum. There was no benefit to honest claiming there.SpyreX wrote:.....
KK, that was inspired. KMD, why didn't you say you were the mystical neighbor?
Re: KK, I've been saying for MONTHS that it is an excellent move for scum to claim miller first post in towns that are unwilling to policy lynch claimed millers. Viz- three of the last four people i've seen do it have been scum. Throw in a bit of bussing, which won't work because enough people are constitutionally opposed to good town play (ie policy-lynching) and it's pretty much invincible.
Yup. I remember seeing the posts when he identified Kmd and Spyre as town and SC, Faraday, and CKD as scum and thought 'Holy crap, this guy is good.' For some reason, all the dead town in Valhalla thought Xyl was scum. I'll never fathom that. Rofl should be glad he died when he did, or this would have been a WiH level embarassment.SpyreX wrote:Xyl gets town MVP. Hands down.
*Applauds*curiouskarmadog wrote:for now on..I will lynch/kill a claimed miller....using this game to do it.
By the time that was obvious, you were in quicklynch range. But seriously, Xyl vs CKD here was the single biggest pwning of a scum by a town i've seen in a long time.curiouskarmadog wrote:Xyl was on point...just hit the wrong scum first.
he should have seen that I wasnt part of a group...I had no friends in this town...
Meh, even with a trusted miller, it's still better to go power role hunting.iamausername wrote:. It also helped that the power roles revealed themselves at just the right times that no one ever had much cause to wonder why the "confirmed" town player was being left alive.
What? That's PLENTY of town power in a game with the strong possibility of crosskills. If KK hadn't claimed miller, town might well have won this one comfortably.Xylthixlm wrote: Also, the town was somewhat underpowered for the scum setup, mainly because of the mason/neighbor bastardry. The neighbors were practically vanilla townies, so the only real town power was two masons, a jailkeeper, a cop, and a vig... not nearly enough to counterbalance the scum.
Oh yeah, that was scummy as FUCK. Xyl was completely right.SpyreX wrote:That was part of it.
I meant when, yesterday, you wouldn't vote for Xyl while calling him scum. No numbers added up to it being lylo so it didn't make sense.
I feel they are scum together, but i will be more sure xyl's scum if lowell is than vice versa =I think Xyl is more likely to be scum than Lowell. There is just no way out of that.
Arguing that the way you're behaving is 'a nulltell' rather than trying to argue it is beneficial to the town is a massive scumtell in my book.curiouskarmadog wrote:the only reason I went hard at Mastin was (and no offense Mastin) he was so incredibly scummy. in out QT, I tried to get him to settle down, but he refused. Man, it's like the ckool5000 vig thing. So obvious on the re-read.iamausername wrote:Johnny Rotten wrote:I do have one hypothetical question I would like to ask. Kublai Khan has claimed Miller. Code: Select all
num town = 17 num mafia a = 3 num mafia b = 4 kill town a = 17 / (24 - 3) = 0.81 kill scum a = 1 - 0.81 = 0.19 kill town b = 17 / (24 - 4) = 0.85 kill scum b = 1 - 0.85 = 0.15 town nightkills = 1.66 scum nightkills = 0.34
So... if the town can lynch scum 68% of the time, the number of scum is totally reasonable (average of 2 dead town per dead scum, which is roughly the ratio of town to scum at the beginning).
I don't care what conventional wisdom says, this town needed more power.#mafia@irc.globalgamers.net

Five out of seventeen power, plus the neighbours. What did you want, a 24 player game with only four VT? Besides, what could you add? Cop + Doc = follow the cop. Maybe one watcher or tracker might have helped, but i can't see that really being the difference between balanced and not here. I never like placing too much emphasis on the nightgame, it makes for swingy and unfun games. Adding extra townies or going daystart is a much better way to improve a town's chances than adding more swingy power roles.Xylthixlm wrote:

If it's going to have 7 scum in 24 players, plus the useless neighbors? Yeah, only four VT sounds about right. The Fonz wrote:

6/24 would be exactly 1/4. Scum needs generally to be 1/4 to 1/3 of total. Assuming the vig holds fire:
N0 two townies down. 15-4-3.
Mislynch. 14-4-3.
N1 two townies down. 12-4-3.
Mislynch. 13-4-3.
N2 two town down. 12-4-3.
Mislynch. 11-4-3.
N3 two town down. 9-4-3.
Mislynch. 8-4-3.
Assuming all mislynches, and no crosskills, the earliest the town can lose majority is Night four. As a worst case scenario, four mislynches with the scum failing to crosskill for five nights is not bad, at all. Now add in that the cop and the masons were effectively unlynchable. Mountainous multiball, at 8-2-2, is not especially scum-favouring. 17-4-3 with town power should not be remotely unbalanced.
The town lynched five times, and never hit vermillion. That's why they lost.-

I was thinking more immediately. Why should he? There was no evidence of him being it, and everyone was assuming that the last neighbour was scum. There was no benefit to honest claiming there.
The last neighbor being KMD (which would have been left field) AND it being in such a spot that the risk/reward for scum doing it AND my read on KMD would have eliminated that from Lowells set of crazy which may have helped push the lynch away from Lowell.
Who knows though.
I think it was balanced fine overall. Although I swear that masons + neighbors is more pro-scum than pro-town. Masons especially.
I swore outloud when my picks for scumteams came out and said they were masons.-

I guess my deal with masons is that in that perfect world you'd have a very pro-town townie that would come out with BAM, I am a mason and everyone would applaud because thats one less in the pool for lynchin.
Instead, its held close like a cop and its always scummy-seeming players that are the masons. Every frakkin time.
I think the balance was fine - we just happened to have no crosskills and an inspired miller claim.-
