im sorry. i havnt posted since everyone voiced their opinion.

i think its premature to assume that a base salary couldnt be $0. yes e_k is right that it isnt a salary if you are getting $0, but that is assuming that MOS was thinking that way.

from what i gathered is that we do jobs and then we give a portion of our money up to people above us i was assuming that your "base salary" is the % you get from the people below you. since my assumptions is that all money is coming from the jobs.

granted everyone could have a salary and my salary could be $1,000 and i made $2,000 on the job.

i dont know what my connections is going to be from friday-thursday but i know it will be limited because im going to be out of town.

right now im still happy with my vote. going after an easy lynch is too suspicious. everyone else just seams confused with the set up are trying to figure it out.

Looking at special mechanics there seems to be a few ways to make money -- base salary, kick ups, second earner gives 5% to somebody. I do not think we are notified what came from where -- I know I was not.

This is my understanding of the salary mechanic:

You make money for taking a job and completing it.
If you are a "higher up" in the mob, you get a % of the money made by those below you who made money from a job.
You make a fixed amount based on your position in the family.

If you read the rules under "Profit" you'll see that it mentions you make a base amount of money based on your position within the organization. This very well could be $0, but either way, it is NOT salary as we have been referring to it as. It's like salary, but not exactly the same. I still stand by saying that it's highly unlikely that somebody's base amount is $0.

We are not told how much we made from what source. The only information we are given is our total profit.

If you're trying to relate this to the real world, where something isn't created out of nothing, this is far from the real world. Even relating it to that, there's more to the real world than "us", the players. Think of hypothetical outside sources as our means of income. the idea that "money can't be created out of thin air" is no basis for thinking most players's base salary is $0.

i know, thats prolly why im wrong. but since i have no knowledge of getting a set salary, i was assuming that the money comes from the one place that we were told there is money, the jobs.

and i dont think most people's base salary is $0, i just think mine is. since i think im at the bottom of the food chain and i have an extremely small total after completing a job.

I second SSK's point. The large majority of this day so far has been spent talking about mechanics. People ought to be focusing on scumhunting instead of trying to work out whether Raj did or did not take a job and so on.

I don't like mneme in particular trying to push suspicion onto Raj. He's barely contributed in this game, pretty much following the Al bandwagon all the way yesterday and then paints the mechanics and night actions in such a light as to make Raj look as scummy as possible. See this, for example:

Someone who earns the least money probably -didn't- take a job (thus, had a night action) and is low-status. Which means they're not high in the Family's trust/hierarchy, -and- they have a night action. Think this is suspcious? So do I.

Why is a lower-status Family member with a night action suspicious? He implies that being lower in the hierarchy makes people less trustworthy and thus more likely to be scum. I don't see how the points listed here make Raj to be more likely to be pro or anti-town so this use of the mechanics to make Raj look scummy sets alarm bells ringing for me.
