Still trying to figure out how I can afford this. Unfortunately, I haven't found a summer job yet, so I won't be getting income for sure until Fall, which is already really close to the meetup. In addition, I'd need to apply for a passport with enough time to receive it before I have to leave, and I don't want to start spending money for the trip before I'm sure I can afford the whole thing. Starting to look like I might not make it...
I want to go so bad. NZ is on my list of places to see, along with Italy, Ireland, and Argentina. But $2,000 is just too expensive for me right now.
EDIT: Changed my mind. This is probably my only chance I'd be able to go to NZ. If my school is totally paid off again this fall, I will definately come.
This just got a little bit more likely for me! I am still definitely planning on going to this if I can. Which reminds me that I need to get my visa before going back to 'sippi...
To all who are serious about coming: if you possibly can, try and organise plane tickets early. January is high season for travel to NZ and I am worried that prices will get a lot more expensive close to the time.
Looking pretty unlike that we'll make it, I'm afraid... no money, and the timing isn't great for Michelle's schedule. But we'll see what happens the next few months.
[Edit: I've edited the attendance list into the first post in this thread.]
Let me know if you're a definite 'no' so I can take you off the list.
Dates reminder: The official week is 6-13 January 2010. The week prior (~30th-5th) is optional for all, and the week after (14st-21st) is optional by arrangement.

Buying tickets shortly, I've made the decision and just need to get dates.
Tally, when do you want us to start arriving? When do you want us to leave? What are the best ways to travel to your place from Auckland (which I assume is the closest domestic airport)?
Hooray only $500-700 return depending on times!

Oman, can you have a look at flying into Wellington? (airport code WLG i think).. it's a lot closer to where I live than Auckland is. Usually it's only a few dollars more to fly to Wellington than to Auckland, if there's any difference at all. If you can get to Welly, I can come pick you up, or it's a 2 hour bus/train ride.
Re arrival/leaving: 6th to 13th is the official dates, with the weeks either side of that as optional. I don't think anyone else has fixed their dates yet so you can pretty much decide what suits you.
@All: Make extra sure you include the whole of 8-10th January if possible (which is 7-9th January in US time) 'cause the long weekend at Sixtus Lodge is gonna be primo.
