We didn't need to out a counter anyway. I pointed out all of the holes in LC's claim, we would have gotten him eventually anyways. qwints has hastened the process though.

Early in the series he is frequently inept and oblivious to the motives of those around him, such as Haley's long-concealed attraction to him.[n 31] Raised solely by his mother, Elan discovers early in the story that his absent warlord father raised his twin brother, Nale, to be an evil mastermind.[n 32] Elan fights with a rapier, making puns while he fights, and is able to use illusion magic.[n 33][n 34][n 35]
It doesn't fit with the character, but the flavor makes a hell of a lot of sense.

I think this is L-1 but it I may have counted wrong and it's the hammer. Either way I'm okay with that.

There are a couple points raised against me since last time I posted that seem quaint now, we'll deal with them D2.

The biggest hole I didn't see pointed out in L_C's claim is that xkcd doesn't explicitly break the laws of physics - it may play with them for laughs (windmills, man who fell sideways, etc.) but it still respects them.

If not for the counterclaim, I would have left him alive and lynched him or not based on a day or two of claimed investigations, since that would have given him more time to implicate any scumbuddies if he was scum. However, that counterclaim is suicidal as scum, and the flavor fits much better (Elan is one of the most genre savvy webcomic characters I've seen, to such an extent that I suspect he reads TVTropes - his author certainly does...).

Note on flavor - Elan's claimed flavor strongly supports my belief that there's a few webcomics that should be considered lynch on sight. I'm not going to mention which ones I'm thinking of (no reason to give stupid scum a get-out-of-jail-free card!) unless I see them claimed, but know that they're out there.

For tomorrow:

- Fishy's defense makes sense; he's probably town.
- Head_Honcho may still be scum, but he's backing up his attack on poptajo with fairly solid logic and his recent defense has been *MUCH* better than his early play. He might be town after all.
- TSS brought up multiscum D1 in a daystart game, which is something town should NEVER do (scum KNOW whether or not the game is multiscum - they can figure that out just by looking at the strength of their scumgroup - so it's in town's best interests to clam up about possible multiscum D1 and see if any scumbag slips up and mentions the possibility). In addition, he's insisting that there's some kind of scum plan involving Fishy and Vino (exceedingly unlikely, the only game's I've ever seen even semi-coordinated scum plans are in games with daytalk or *maybe* a good scum coordinator) and as noted by other players is using circular logic to argue for this to boot.

Craplogic? Brings up multiscum D1? He's not town.

Delathi:

Sure, it's not a webcomic, but it is a comic and has webisodes. Your comment was odd and seemed to come from nowhere.
The good grief was in response to the wall o' texts of people responding to everyone in the same post and scrolling 4-5 pages for one post. It was by no means an attempted soft claim.

I have read and dug and caught up for the most part. I am tempted to beleive L_C's claim, the flavor works for me for what he claims to be.

I also tend to agree with SerialClergyman's analysis of the silent speaker. I didn't jump on the L_C bandwagon because I thought it was based on spastic bad play, this one I'll take a ride on because is looks to be based on scummy play.

Vote : the silent speaker
That's shitty reasoning, and far too wishy-washy and vague for me to see coming from a townie.

These are all things to deal with tomorrow, however,

I replaced into this game and did not add this game to the watched list. I absolutely fail.

2 cop claims. Breadcrumbing is only useful if you expect your going to get CCed or at least contested why your flavor matches your role. And you obviously were expecting it. Flavor favors qwints (I really do not see hatman as a informational role). In light of all the other case points brought against you with less than adequate defense, this is likely scum.

What is 'wishy washy wagon jumpy' about thinking that someone at L-2 in a 25 person game who is being asked to claim will probably get lynched? I'm not the fucking pope, nobody would have pointed back to my comment in their defense and been able to reasonably say I had absolved them.
It wasn't that you said that you disagreed. The issue is that you disagreed, but didn't feel particularly motivated to
do anything about it
. If others shared your 'oh, it's inevitable' mindset, it would be the perfect outcome if L_C is town, as I stated. Even if he's not town, it's still an anti-town attitude.

I'll drop the hammer.

. Whilst I was willing to let his lynch wait in light of his claim, the counterclaim from Qwints needs addressing today.

Not if L_C flips scum. If it's something everyone could do from their role PMs, why volunteer yourself specifically? If it's something only you can do, then there is room enough for lying.

Furthermore, if he was attempting to clarify roles by matching words in PMs, then he almost certainly knew that this would be disallowed by the moderator. Showing a willingness to break the rules in the town's favour, when you can be fairly certain you won't be actually asked to break those rules, is a null tell.

I just find his attitudes and posting too odd. Like this:
Santos wrote:How popular are cults in this forum?
Why on earth is this post even here? Why is he talking about cults?

I dislike those who play the newbie card, as well as those whose posts contain only votes without elaboration (such as 345).

Vague, but enough.

Well, the counterclaim does change the landscape of the game. If Lamont
is
scum my theory is mostly dead. Given the choice of who to believe, I prefer believing Quintz. Seems the hammer dropped already, though.

Just to answer one thing from Tar:
Tar wrote:- TSS brought up multiscum D1 in a daystart game, which is something town should NEVER do (scum KNOW whether or not the game is multiscum - they can figure that out just by looking at the strength of their scumgroup - so it's in town's best interests to clam up about possible multiscum D1 and see if any scumbag slips up and mentions the possibility). I see multiscum as a possibility in any game this size, daystart or night, so I disagree that town should avoid mentioning it to see what scum 'slip up first'. Figure 1/4-1/3 of the town is generally scum -- that's seven or eight people, much too unwieldy for a single group, and everybody in town should know it. Usually it shouldn't be brought up anyway, but that's because usually it's pointless to speculate on; here, though, I mentioned it in a specific context (Vino being scum but also not allied with a group of other people allied together was relevant for the cop-fishing part). It wasn't so much the kind of "hey guys what if there's competing scum groups?" type of speculation that looks like content but isn't.

I have already gone over in multiple posts why my theory wasn't circular reasoning at all. Wrong, perhaps, especially with Lamont counterclaimed and now justly run up, but not circular.
I think it's pretty clear that TSS's awesomeness did alter the roles each of us recieved, and thus he's obviously pro-town. -- Save The Dragons

Final Vote Count of D1 brought to you by Ninja Cookies. "Now with a free shuriken in every bite.".

Lamont_Cranston (13): Tarhalindur, Slicey, SensFan, Mufasa, Qwints, roflcopter, Hasdgfas, SerialClergyman, populartajo, Fishythefish, Vino, Sajin, Percy

The Silent Speaker (2): Delathi, Santos
Qwints (1): Lamont_Cranston
roflcopter (1): The Silent Speaker
Flameaxe (1): Timeater
SerialClergyman (1): ZazieR
Timeater (1): Tzeentch
Populartajo (1): Head_Honcho

Note Voting (4): Sironigous, Flameaxe, Korlash, Empking

With 25 alive, it's 13 to lynch.

As the town goes for its first lynch victim, Lamont_Cranston protests. This would be expected, as he is, in fact, said lynch victim. Yet he remains calm and collected, his face a blank slate. His crimes are read to him:

Image

Given this track record, he is sentenced to death. Yet once his apartment-moat is crossed, his secret notes disguised as a coat closet deciphered, and the lost arc recovered, it is dramatically revealed that deep down, not only was he a good guy, but he had been breaking the fourth wall to spy on people.

Lamont_Cranston, Man with a Hat, Town Cop of XKCD, lynched D1

Night 1! ZazieR, Flameaxe, and Mufasa need to send me PMs stating their intention to continue play, else they shall be replaced. Day begins when all night actions are in and all that need be replaced are replaced.

As the sun rises in the Eastern part of the internet, everyone wakes up to immediately spy a mangled, bloody, insanely ravaged corpse. And a woodchuck which is, astoundingly, still alive after being fired into Qwints' gut. A recreation of the crime:

Image

And then he was shot with a woodchuck. He was Elan, a bard who was currently studying people's art styles.

Next, two piles of ash are laying side by side. The first was a charred and smoking pile, belonging to The Silent Speaker, known also as Davan. A scene from his best-selling autobiographical movie:

Image

Wikipedia-editing dorks quickly identify his remains as being killed by a death ray, though nothing else was special about him. This investigation was easy, as the other pile of ash was piled at the feet of a death ray. Closer inspection reveals the dust not to be ash, but rather eraser shavings, and the only remains of Populartajo. A tape from his office shows the following:

Image

He didn't want villains who he wasn't the boss of wandering around, so he joined the town to kill them off.

Qwints, Elan of Order of the Stick, Town Cop, Chuckshot N1
The Silent Speaker, Davan of Something Positive, Vanilla Townie, Death Ray'd N1
Populartajo, Evil Atom of Evil Inc., Town Vig, Erased N1

Day Two! With Twenty-One alive, it's Eleven to lynch!

Great now we lost two cops.

If the method of night killing has importance, Death Ray is from Girl Genius. I doubt that Agatha would have NK power, so that means we have a Baron Klaus Wulfenbach or a Gilgamesh Wulfenbach from that comic. (Or both who knows.) I don't know about woodchucks or erasure.

One question I have is, could Populartajo get a shot off tonight, and did he? None of the other kills look like they could have been from an atomic superhero so I'm going with no.

Three kills means either two mafia factions and a vig/sk, or one mafia faction and two vig/sk's. I'm not sure that "death by woodchuck" sounds like such a scummy thing, so it may have been a vig miskill, which makes sense given the counter-claim.

So now we have no dead scum, and we're down two cops and a vig.

I'm going to do a re-read and see what I can glean from TSS and Populartajo's posts.
