Lord Gurgi wrote:Why are you getting yourself sterilised rather than whatever partner? Wouldn't it be easier (and safer) for your significant other to do so?
Because I'm the one who wants to be sterile, and I want people to respect that it's entirely 100% my choice whether or not I have kids, and not leave any room for anyone trying to change my mind or arguing with me. Once my tubes are tied, people will absolutely have to shut up about it. They can still say that I was drastic or whatever, but they can no longer say "you're not allowed to want this." Besides, if I'm sterile then the whole "if you really loved me, you'd have my kids" argument would never come up, because people who were unsure about a childless future would be warned away pretty early on by the whole "I had my tubes tied" thing.

What is a greater problem today: moral decay, or economic decay?
I don't believe in morality, and, despite all the bad things going on, I can't say the economy is a problem per se, rather a self-regulating system, so let's just go with the decay and mediation of human relationships
cicero wrote:Are you really male?
Not the last time I checked. Unless I magically sprouted a penis since taking a shower this morning, I'm guessing now.

No, really. Are you?
No, really, I'm only male on every alternating Wednesday.

Why won't you come clean?
[Okay, you caught me, I stole the cookies from the cookie jar./b]

Everyone knows there are no women on the internet.
Good, cause I prefer to think of myself as female rather than as a woman.
VP Baltar wrote:What is your favorite Edith Wharton quote?
There's this one line in The House of Mirth where she's describing Lily and mentions her charm bracelets being like chains. I don't remember the exact wording, but that.

Have you ever cooked with tamarinds?
Not fresh ones. Before I gave up meat, I used to make some pretty kick ass pork and eggplant in garlic tamarind sauce. It was with like prepackaged, pureed tamarinds though. So I don't know if you feel like counting that.

What dish do you make to impress people?
Depends on who I'm impressing. My go to dish for guests used to be chicken breast in wine and mushroom sauce with mashed potatoes and balsamic tomato salad for non-vegetarian guests, but I can't do that anymore since I've given up chicken. For the vegetarians, I can whip up some pretty awesome lasagna or pizza (there's an old thread somewhere in GD with my pizza recipe somewhere) or falafel. I also make LOTS of hors d'Å“uvres for guests, usually deviled eggs and cucumber sandwiches and mini spinach pies and stuff. Basically all the stuff I wouldn't bother to cook if I were cooking for myself.

Do you prefer baking or cooking?
Both. Though I'm more likely to try baking something fancy than cooking something fancy due to time constraints

Tamarind paste does count.

Do you find it annoying when you try to eat vegetarian in Europe and they give you fish or chicken?

Why did you become a vegetarian?

If I opened a vegetarian restaurant, would you come eat at it?

Do you find this funny?

Pity. I actually do like tamarind, but I've never seen it in unprocessed form. Just the paste, some chutney, and dried sugared tamarind.

I have never tried to eat vegetarian in Europe. It's been about a year since I was in Europe last, and I was still eating meat then. Besides, I'm not actually a vegetarian. I'm a pescatarian.

Why did you become a vegetarian?
I'm not a vegetarian. I still eat seafood. But I gave up meat because I spent a couple of months not really eating much of it, and realized that I didn't really miss it when I didn't eat it, and anyway, most of my friends don't eat meat so I was always trying to think up vegetarian recipes for when I had them over for dinner. So I decided why the heck not just give it up. This was a couple months ago. Not eating meat is cheaper and healthier anyways. I may or may not take the plunge into vegetarianism at some future point in time, but right now, I enjoy sushi too much to say no to fish.

If I opened a vegetarian restaurant, would you come eat at it?
As long as I could eat something there that did not contain tofu, sure.

Do you find this funny?

Tamarinds are pod-like and brown, sort of like giant pea pods. They have kind of a sour-sweet taste in their natural form. They are all over here, and my personal favorite product is tamarind jam.

What do you have against tofu?

I hate the consistency of it. I also hate it's lack of taste. I have tried eating it in many different forms (as I said, mostly vegetarian friends), and I have yet to meet a preparation of tofu that doesn't make me gag.

Have you ever tried flavoring it?

Tofu is gross on it's own because it's flavorless, but get firm tofu and fry it in a skillet with some garlic, salt, pepper, and cayan pepper before putting it in a stir fry or something. It's quite tasty. It can also be marinated to fit your tastes as you would with meat.

Tried it marinated and fried and still don't like it. It'd say its different than meat in that meat has its own flavour despite what you add to it. The additions accentuate the meat's flavour. Tofu is just kind of bleh. I'm just not a fan.

I do think he was a pedophile and probably a child molester. The whole inviting kids into his bed thing and paying off their parents seems to suggest that.

VP Baltar wrote:What is your favorite kind of coffee?
I do not drink coffee. Besides disliking the taste, I'm not a huge fan of caffeine. That and the smell of coffee makes my feel ill. If it's incorporated in food, I can handle it though.

Do you own a French press?
See above

What do you think of Hunter S. Thompson and Gonzo journalism in general?
I have not read any Thompson, so I have no opinion on him, but I don't really want to read him, because I don't enjoy reading about drug trips. As to gonzo journalism, I'm not a fan of calling it journalism, or passing it off as "the truth" or "fact." I have no problem with the style of writing itself or the premise of truth as an individual construct (which I agree with, I don't believe in a universal truth), but I do believe that journalism should be as objective as humanly possible. While true objectivity is unattainable, throwing it completely out the window defeats the purpose of the journalist. So yeah, write whatever, but when you get into unrestrained subjectivity, call it something else besides journalism. Then again, I think much of the state of journalism today is too personalized and subjective.

Male birth control pill, good or bad?

Would you go on a meat relapse if you were to visit a country you'd never been to before and wanted to experience their cuisine (seriously if you ever go to China eat the meat; they can do things with pork that make grown men weep)?

Top four world cultures for eating?

Tofu is clearly a product of the devil, why does VP Baltar want you to eat it?

How much better is dark meat chicken than white meat?

Haven't you only played in one of my games, how the heck did I get to the top of your mod list (thanks btw)?

Good, if they work. New ways of contraception are always awesome.

I might consider it. I would probably feel guilty as hell about it, but I am willing to try most things, especially if its a once in a lifetime type thing

Top four world cultures for eating?
Italian, Thai, Mediterranean, Japanese (mostly for the sushi.)

Tofu is clearly a product of the devil, why does VP Baltar want you to eat it?
I have no idea. Some people seem to be under the impression that it's tasty...well, maybe if you throw enough MSG in it, you could possibly get something resembling flavour...

How much better is dark meat chicken than white meat?
I actually prefer white meat chicken.

Haven't you only played in one of my games, how the heck did I get to the top of your mod list (thanks btw)?
Because you are just that awesome.
VP Baltar wrote:Have you ever considered an IUD?
I have. The very thought makes me shudder. I do not like the idea of sticking things in certain regions of my body. That and its not a permanent solution. Getting one would be admitting that I'm not sure. I'm holding out for the tubal ligation.

Why does shaft.ed hate the devil?
Does he? I thought he and Old Nick plyed poker on Fridays while sacrificing babies and drinking their blood.

Well I never used to buy bacon, so it's not like there was a huge lifestyle change there. But whenever I smell bacon cooking somewhere else, I die a little inside. I might have to invest in some bacon salt, since its vegetarian-friendly.

Basically its a reference to Edith Wharton's House of Mirth (one of my favourite books) by way of the Bible, since thats where that title is from. "The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth." Ecclesiastes 7:4. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be a fool than spend my life needlessly bemoaning something or other. That particular quote has always bothered me for that reason. Hence the reference.

I have not, actually. Virginia Woolfe, right? To be honest, I've only read her short stories.

Um, I wouldn't call myself that. Given some charcoal and a model who can sit still for about half an hour, I can possibly produce a decent portrait if I'm all zen and stuff, and I've dabbled in most crafts at some point in my life including drastically different things like needlepoint and metal work, but I generally don't have the time or energy (or in some cases tools) to devout to any of the above. Though I would at some future point in time like to take a couple of classes with live models. When I have the money.

Hmmm. No chocolate? Damn.

Let's go with the following combination: some form of Pistachio ice cream, some form of Mint ice cream, and Toscanini's Burnt Caramel.
