@Blackberry: I think this thing needs to be resolved by the mod regardless if you are a player or not.

Updates
  • [*]Re: Blackberry - I consider him a player. He has two options 1) protest the ruling or 2) quit and rejoin receiving 1000$$$ as a new player. If someone want to protest THAT ruling, you will have to do it through the protest process because I see anyone who /in's as a new player. Think about it as when someone plays online poker and they get a default buy-in for joining the game. Or pass a rule that says that players who /out are no longer considered new players when they /in. You guys also might want to think about this in regards of the hiatus list. Players are supposed to be looking for loop holes, it is the nature of nomic.

It seems to me that having a rule which allows any player who has less than 1000 leave and come back in and replenish their money is unfair. I think we should fix this.

Also, since money has no actual value yet, maybe we should give it a value before building on it more. It seems futile to create rules which add or subtract money if there is no win condition (the only thing which has value in the game, really (?)) tied to said money.
It also seems futile to create another system of scoring.

It's obvious that either we should decide on a win condition somehow connected to money in any degree or scrap the money idea completely. I don't think we should scrap the money rules because it could (when fully formed) give a good idea of who is winning, losing etc. Although in a Nomic game it isn't necessary to have a winner or loser, I believe we should have some kind of purpose which drives us, just to make the game interesting.

Idea.

Again, I think we should just set an arbitrary win condition, something simple, and then if someone comes up with something more interesting later, or if the game condition forced people to consider revising it to ensure someone didn't win, make the proposal then.

Just saying something like "First to reach 25,000 $$$ wins" is a perfect example of that. If one individual raced out way ahead and started getting close, everyone else would have an incentive to change the win condition. If the game remained competitive, no one would have any incentive to change it.

All these no votes on various win conditions for "I don't really like that idea" reasons, I feel, are misunderstanding the concept of Nomic.

Nay to P137

As for voting 'nay' on various rules based on not liking them, it's not that I'm not knowledgable of Nomic (though this is my first game), it's that I don't think the proposed rules would be very beneficial to me personally. After all, it's all about me, right? =)

Apparently people have a very different sense of humor from me.

Juls is married to Moratorium :O

Raise your hand if you didn't know that.....

pops is trying to claim I am being partial in my modding because I told him that while I wouldn't stop him from being a game spoiler (i.e. admitting he doesn't want to play but just wants to mess with you all) I did not appreciate it. See, I kinda want people to have fun playing this game and if you are in here just to cause a stir I would rather you not be in here. That doesn't mean I will kick you out. As it says in the first post, it would take a lot for me to modkill someone.

pops, maybe you should go read Nomic I...we openly talked about Moratorium and I being married. In fact, he had to write a poem for me for the game to end. Also, a few posts ago I said our anniversary is next month. So continue to do what you want but don't expect me to be a wallflower when you say I am not being impartial.

in 137:
what soes it mean by "each square is worth 300$$$"? Does it mean it can be sold to the mod/bank for 300$$$?
Also I don't understand the mechanism of adding the value with links. The example seems to contradict what the rest of the rule says. If you have a square and buy one next to it, both become worth 400$$$ and then if you buy another one the value goes up another 100$$$ to 500$$$, not 700$$$.

I'd like to vote yes for p138 but I don't want to be lenient an all the thouroughly annoying players who have joined, got bored, and now we have trouble getting proposals voted due to them not voting ever. Maybe.
