Okay, what if there was a limit of one bus driver.

50% None, 25% Town, 25% Mafia

Has enough of how flay put it "weirdness", but doesn't screw up the night

Stick with the good ol' C9 formula: 50% none, 50% town.

A brief diversion on naming. (I think this has been said already, I'll say it again.)

A "C9" setup has two random options, A and B, with each of the following combinations equally likely:
AB (11)
- (00)
A (10)
B (01)
11001001 binary = C9 hexadecimal

A "F11" setup has three random options, A, B, and C, with each of the following combinations equally likely:
ABC (111)
A (100)
B (010)
C (001)
111100010001 binary = F11 hexadecimal

I oppose certification of any setup which has "C9" or "F11" in the name but does not follow the appropriate pattern.

Alternating 9P then. What are the actual problems with it? It gives town at least one investigation and one protection, without the cop-doc breakage, and I wouldn't consider town weak in this setup, either.
I just feel that it's trying to find a way round the broken set-up by making the power roles weaker, if you don't want the set-up broken you don't put both in there or you make it so it's a CPR doc, or change the sanity. The solution is not to make it so that the power is substantially weaker, because the cop would only get 2 investigations maximum throughout the whole game.

I propose the renaming of "Alternating C9" to "Alternating 9P"
as per Xyl's post.

Any more C9/F11 variations that don't follow the appropriate pattern should default to being named according to their player number.

certify Alternating 9P with Odd-Night Cop/Even-Night Doc

Hi guys

Open Setup Certification Group Approved exists now, pdated with the first post. It's protected, so only sysops can edit it (
we don't want every single setup to end there, do we?
)

Please keep the first post updated. Keep up the good work!

We already have C9, F11, Bird 7P, and Pie E7. I don't think we need any more variations on "7 to 9 players with a cop and a doc".

I think that really the simple solution is one of the following:

A) don't have both
B) make the doc a CPR or jail keeper
C) make the cop macho or have some sanity issues
D) have a mafia Role Blocker

I have an idea for a setup spurred by discussion of lovers which is so simple/obvious I'm sure it's been used/discussed extensively before but I'm unsure how to search for previous setups. Anyhow, in case it hasn't:

True Love

Nightless

8 Players- 2 Mafia, 6 Townies

4 lover pairs.

It is known the configuration of lovers is:

1 townie-1 townie
1 townie-1 townie
1 townie-1 scum
1 townie-1 scum

Everyone is aware of who is paired with whom. Daytalking is allowed between both lovers and scum.

This has exactly 50% odds of being won by either town or scum. Sounds awesome to me.
nominate True Love for certification
I wound up being picked to mod this one. I'm assuming for the setup to not be broken the townies can't know that they're paired with a mafia. Otherwise the townies could throw their partners under the bus for a town win every time.

Obviously.

That setup is actually interesting in a game theory way. If you are a townie, then the chance of your lover pair containing scum is 1/3, and the chance of each other lover pair containing scum is 5/9... so townies shouldn't vote to lynch their own pair. On the other hand, the chance of your lover being scum is 1/3, and the chance of any other player being scum is 5/18, so you should trust your own lover *less* than you trust other players.

Yes, they don't know whether their lover is scum or town.

I think we have enough approved setups for now. We should run more of the existing ones to continue to ensure they're solid setups. Also the same 3 or 4 from the list are run way more often than the others; for example a vengeful and a jungle republic started very recently and there's already new games of those setups taking signups.

I got prodded last week.

Nay on both Wheels and Unicycle. I don't like the mental image of a town bus driver and a scumbag with a nightkill trying to outguess each other, and that's what it's going to boil down to.

Yay on Alternating 9p. I also wouldn't mind a version with the cop being odd-night.

Yay on 2:2:7 FandE, I suppose.
(But that thing I said about 2:2:3 with daytalking should still be taken seriously.)

I think Jungle Republic would probably do better with an additional townie or two. Dunno. I don't have a strong opinion here.

It's very possible I haven't commented on everything, or have commented on stuff everyone else has already passed.

Is 13:12:7 balanced?

Encryptor's survival permits mafia daytalking. (Of course, it doesn't matter which of them has that role.)

Day start. Scum are crosskill-immune, which is of course the only reason their kill might fail. Endgame priority for werewolves. (This extends to prisoner's dilemma--it activates as soon as it is impossible for the town to win, if there are an equal number of mafia and werewolves. I'm not wild about the weak seer; I wouldn't mind taking it out but giving werewolves priority anyway.)
Do we have a simulator for this sort of thing yet? I have no idea how many townies would be good to make this work, considering no crosskills (and I hate crosskills).
