distraction, perhaps. is that the best you can do?
'twas spolium who attempted the theft of haiku.
it seems that he says, that if things go his way,
scum catching can result from questionable play.
this may leave us in a pickle, fhqwhgads, my friend,
for how can you trust one such as he in the end
when he knowingly treds on the dark side of life
and mingles with thieves when out of our sight?

Vote Count

One page has passed, and a certain amount
Of votes have been cast, it's time for a count
The spread has been even, but night isn't nigh
In time mobs will form, and then someone will die

Wolf, your accusations seemed serious enough
But now you want to say they were fluff?
You spoke of transgressions I had to find in the wiki
This situation will surely get sticky
I have to assume you were for real, not for play
And the only recourse is for my vote to stay
In random vote stage I can only assume
You were grasping at straws when you sang that tune

To everyone else, a wagon we need
My words are what you surely should heed
WolfBlitzer is trying to deflect what I've said
So I say to you all, "Off with his head!"

If you'd like me to explain my thoughts in prose
It is simply required for you to say so

Wolf's statement seems to be a joke,
cast in the spirit of a random vote.

However I must say, I cannot pretend
that I want the random voting stage to soon end.
So I will join your bandwagon here
in the hope that some scummy signs do soon appear.

unvote,vote: Wolfblitzer
I say loud,
lets see what you have to say now!

This rhyming is fun to do, that is true
but their comes a point where it just confuses you.

Scumtells, I think will be hard to find
mixed up in all of this rhyme
(That said, I certainly won't be the first one
to cause the rhyming pattern to be undone :P)

I assure you, don_johnson, my motives are pure.
Your cries of "thief" I regard with a frown;
I felt that my claim to haiku would encourage
A standard, established for each of the town.
Since you approve of more freedom of style
And see no advantage in sticking to one
I trust you'll accept, without getting riled,
My own newfound form (though haiku are more fun).

Now it would be remiss of me to ignore
The somewhat suspicious actions you've taken.
These attacks on my name, I can't stands no more!
At worst you seem scummy; at best, just mistaken.
Most telling is your quick declaration of "friend";
Why are you so certain that he's on your side?
Your "friendship" could be little more than pretend
Or is he your scumpal, in whom you confide?

aye, good questions do come
from one named spolium,
my usage of "friend"
was a means to an end.
if i had more skill, or perhaps more time,
i could have searched around for something to rhyme
with fhqwhgads, but alas
how am i to announce
a rhyme for a name i can't even pronounce?

Well done Wolf, I noticed that too.
Given fhq's vote, it just made me blue.
I picked on him with a careful jest,
knowing my words could spark some unrest.

For magi to say, in her dearest of ways,
that my post to her did not faze.
I found it an odd complaint at the time,
yet then I thought, "but only to rhyme?"

As flattering it may be,

I'll say it just once

In regards to haiku,
I have nothing to add.
Spolium and don,
have gone seemingly mad.

Perhaps they shall produce a greater explanation,
but for that I shall wait with anticipation.

This explanation seems reasoned and just
But I urge you; be wary of which words you use.
For due to these rhymed interactions, we must
Strive for clear meaning to avoid scum abuse.
Though metaphor may serve to spice up the hunt,
And no-one wants poems to be awkward or stale,
What good does this serve? I suspect none.
When scum can redefine words, town will fail.

the wagons a rollin'
suspicions avast
through their posts i've been storllin'

they've posted now twice,
of "scum", "scummy", and "scumtells",
employed a scum tactic, to get scum to appear,
yet have little input on the rhymes they find here.

i'm reminded of a saying, to this time well fit,
"he who hath smelt it, be the one who hath dealt it."

Missed the thread, but two pages in and my head already is aching. I refuse to scumhunt if the level of coherence isn't raised. For instance, please do try to make clear what is jest and what is genuine inquest.

I'll second this request. Sorry to be a pest, but trying to decipher the intent of some posts is quite the test.

For example, I take it don_johnson's vote is legit, but I don't really understand the reasons behind it. Could you hit me with the recap in prose form?

To be honest, all the rhyming was confusing the hell out of me, so it is hard to comment on them.

I added a third vote to provoke proper discussion. It did :P.

I was thinking about replacing out with all of these rhyme schemes(I feel like I'm back in 12th grade English). It's gonna be nearly impossible to keep up with and people can justify slips up by saying that they needed to preserve rhyme.

I don't mind the rhyme once in awhile, but this way is just over-kill. I think we should just play normally with the ocasional flavor thrown in to the mix.
If you got it flaunt it.

I don't believe Wolf's attacks were in jest just because it was the random voting stage, or early in the game, or what have you.

I do find it interesting that Red Coyote is trying to cover for him.

Perhaps magi was just attempting to keep her poetry going, perhaps not. In either case, no, she doesn't have to listen to me. I don't know, it seemed a little offputing. Who said that she had to listen to me? No one, lol.

You can call it covering if you want, but I'm surprised you jumped on him like you did. I suppose I thought what he had to say was more valid than you did though.

Frankly, I'm more concerned with Budja hopping on board that bandwagon with you Ice. His post made it seem like he wanted to pressure Wolf, piggyback on your suspicions, and have his vote counted as a "random" one, all at once.

What kind of discussion did you think would be generated? What kind of "scummy signs" did you think would appear by placing a 3rd vote on Wolf?

When you voted, you said you did so essentially in hopes of catching something scummy from Wolf. Now you're saying it was merely to spark discussion. Those don't seem to be the same thing. Care to clarify?

I sought to address this in this post (and as someone noted, the poems don't necessarily have to rhyme), but you're probably right about the comprehensive difficulty. I'll save mine for selective use.

Shame, really. I'd hoped we'd be able to pull it off.

prose?
i suppose...
now,noone knows
how far we could take it?
best mafia game ever,
had we chosen to make it.

that said, i can agree. it is not for everyone, however, i don't see how prose will make it any easier to find scum. words are words, poorly explained votes are poorly explained votes, active lurking is still active lurking. these things could all be found in poetry. but i digress...

this confused me as well. what kind of "proper" discussion stems from a poorly explained bandwagon vote on someone who "seems" to be making a joke? that is what i meant when i said:
dj wrote:employed a scum tactic, to get scum to appear
the blatant bandwagon is not necessarily a scumtell, but it is at the very least "anti-town" as we have no way of knowing a players true intentions. scum can easily hide behind this type of "pressure" vote.

i didn't notice the "piggybacking" when i voted, but it is a valid point as well.
