"Syphilis, or the French Disease

Where the name Syphilus itself came from is not known for certain, but it has been suggested that Fracastoro borrowed it from Ovid's
Metamorphoses
. In Ovid's work
Sipylus
(spelled
Siphylus
in some manuscripts) is the oldest son of Niobe, who lived not far from Mount Sipylon in Asia Minor. Fracastoro's poem about Syphilus was modeled on the story of Niobe. "

I'm totally ok with either spelling :)

Yeah I don't want to start a big conversation...I meant it more as it made me chuckle so I was hoping everyone else could chuckle too. :) It's a common misspelling of Syphilis...carry on. :)

Now that I think about it, it might be better if I suggest prom king over myself as the person who does the night watch. Though if no one claims the position as the dealine closes I will take it.

Watcher
This would make sense but if the person that watches is scum I assume that means they will be able to kill someone. Never had to have someone stand watch at night so I am assumeing the normal scum type things are going to be changed.

While I do not wish to fish there needs to be enough time for someone that has information or an idea of how to handle this to speak up.

Mod: if I'm reading this correctly, then I understand this decision has very little effect. Is this correct?

If this is true, then there is really no need to debate about it. The only thing I see coming from the debate is information helpful to the mafia - i.e. who's protown, or who has some role incentive to being the watcher seems to me like info that only helps the mafia, if there is little effect (i.e. no benefits or consequences) to whoever watches. It makes logical sense that whoever watches should be town, but if it truely doesn't matter like the mod says, then we should just let the dice roll decide. (also, if it doesn't matter, then why do we even have to pick?) That being said, I'll be the watcher if its requested of me.

I also have a question about MM: is an indifferent Doc a doc that is not alligned with either side? So, like a survivor doc? That explains why MM didn't full claim I guess... his incentive was to survive and not necessarily help the town.

Also I'm glad I went back and read the death scene again to see this:

From the mod's comments I'm assuming this has little bearing on the game; also, while we don't know what this does, we can't decide on who to choose.

Let's play it Rogue Shenanigans style.

We could have taken it to a vote or something.

@Rhinox...I took the mod's comment to mean that it has little effect on the game dynamics. In other words, the path we choose in the morning will effect what people can do in day/night but the watchman is just a decision that will be made every twighlight and will do the same thing every night.

I am confused by this though:
Mod wrote:No one person can keep watch twice per night.
@Mod
: Does that mean that if the watchman is already a watcher he/she will not be able to watch two people or does it mean that no one will be able to be watchman twice?

@raider - I would have also liked a vote (or at least a consensus) or just a random dice roll for fairness.

I think it was 7 to lynch, but his role only required 6 (regular number -1). When I die tonight, at least promise me you take korts or RS to visit me ASAP. they cant be team players when they run off and make decsicions without our consent.

That's a pretty scummy and short-sighted statement. Since it was stated that it had little to no bearing on the game as of now, and also we don't know anything about what this watching entails, I don't see any point in discussion or democracy. Scum can manipulate town if you want to go through democratic channels; and also the best we could do would be baseless theorizing about what may or may not happen.

I promise to tell you everything I learn tonight regarding this "watching" tomorrow.

Korts is watching tonight.

It is now Night 1. Send actions ASAP.

I'll explain at the end, though you should be able to pick it up from the flavour text.

Sorry for the typo. This means that no person can keep watch two nights in a row. So if I were to put myself up for watch two nights in a row, the second one would be ignored.

Mod Cutscene 3

Korts patiently stood watch at night. About midnight, he started to doze off. This is bad news for one of you, however - Occam has gone missing.

Occam, unknown because of disappearance, is gone (and probably dead).

You have no time to look for Occam. You must move on, or risk getting attacked.

It is now Day 2. There is no choice today - you must trudge on down the single muddy path available to you - the surrounding woods are getting too thick to walk through.

Okay. Quick post because it's 4 AM and I'm still wasted; the watch entailed me getting a PM at the end of the night that I've fallen asleep. I also seem to remember Occam going into the forest for a piss, but that maybe I just dreamt it. Basically, paraphrasing, that is all I got.

Does there? It may simply be a red herring mechanic that serves no other function than flavor.

I thihnk I want to explore if korts is lying here.

vote korts

Its real simple, either he is lying (and we will find out the reason why) , or there truly is no real relevance to the night time watch.

Well yes, it is simple if you look at it that way. But do you really think that if I was lying, I'd cave in from a little pressure?

Was there nothing else mentioned besides that?
