Newbie Game 720 -- Game Over!

Well, it is down to qwints, Charrat, and T-Rex for votes. I am perfectly fine with letting BM hang out to dry, claim, and we all hopefully get more info because of drawing it out.

And also, we need to keep in mind the possible roles that we have in this set-up as well:

Setup:
This game uses the 9-player setup called F11, which consists of four possibilities:

* 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 1 Sane Cop, 1 Doctor, 5 Townies.
* 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 7 Townies.
* 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Sane Cop, 6 Townies.
* 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Doctor, 6 Townies.

So far we have had 2 Normal Townies killed. This leaves two Mafia and five townies of some kind. Any thoughts?

i'm a cop. i investigated benmage on night one and he turned up scum. ( i dont know if he is goon or roleblocker however.) he made it pretty obvious anyway giving me a window in which to pursue him somewhat doggedly.

so, we either have a setup with a cop and a doctor or with just a cop. if there's no doctor, im dead at night and it will be 4-1 townies tomorrow and you have plenty of info from which to pick i think.
if there is a doctor, please try to save me. the roleblocker (if benmage is just a goon) can only block one of us. either i will live without a tell and we will be up 5-1 or the doctor won't be able to save me and i will probably die and we will be at 4-1. 4-1 is our WORST outcome.


hammer benmage and sorry if you dont agree with this move, but im pretty sure it will work.

lets hope there's a doctor and that benmage is a roleblocker, then we would be up 5-1 WITH another investigation result.

Wow....I have to say that for some reason, I believe you whole-heartedly and I guess we will see if it is a wise move or not.

This means that we are between two scenarios then:

• 1 Mafia Goon, 1 Mafia Roleblocker, 1 Sane Cop, 1 Doctor, 5 Townies.
  
• 2 Mafia Goons, 1 Sane Cop, 6 Townies.

By hammering and lynching benmage, we will almost surely be able to tell exactly what scenario it is and I think that this would be to the benefit of the town overall. Bold move mag but I think that it should work out IMO.

there is a doctor, it is imperative that you not reveal your identity. this will force the roleblocker(if it is not benmage) to either lynch or roleblock me in which case the doctor should protect me and we will at the very least have a 5-1 advantage and at the best also have an investigation.
if theres not doctor, then things wont go quite as well.
so i guess we'll see.

Before I hammer BM (and I am now perfectly willing to), I want to discuss a little theory.

This probably wasn't the best time for a cop claim, because BM was the lead wagon. We now lose an opportunity to gain information on other players from their interactions. Everything else done today will be with the knowledge that BM is known scum. Magis will now be either killed or blocked tomorrow. Everything magis did before the claim, however, is a perfect example of how a cop should play when he gets a guilty. He led the charge with plausible evidence without giving away his identity. [Of course, we could be very lucky and have BM be the roleblocker. In that case, the doc has to protect the cop.]

Be careful about letting inactivity force your hand. I still want to hear from T-Rex and Charrat. Who do you two think the other scum is?

yes, qwints, i was aware that this wasn't the optimal move. however i decided to take a chance, not from inactivity, but rather as kind of an experiment/learning experience.

its 50/50 that bm is the roleblocker, which would be awesome.

Welcome back. Here's an update on what happened:

On Monday, Bluehost shut down the forum. The "official" reason was inefficient SQL scripts causing excessive load on the server. The reality is that we've simply outgrown the service they can provide. Because of this, mith has switched hosting companies. We're now on a VPS with a host that has very good feedback, so the "grey screens of death" should be a thing of the past.

That said, it will take 48 hours for the DNS to propagate throughout the world, so people will be trickling back in. For that reason, I'm declaring an amnesty on prods, since there's no fair way to enforce the ones that are already out. The next set of prods, if needed, will go out on Monday, January 12. That gives enough time for the new site to become visible to everyone, plus 3 days, including a weekday. At that point, things will proceed as normal.

I am very suspicious of Charrat - activity level has been actually pretty low after I counted it all up. And the only activity that he seems to be showing is to ask the 4 questions that we have all been answering. IMO this could be a way for scum to get the town's general feelings and act appropriately. Thoughts?

I've played with charrat in another game, and watched him in a couple of others, and he never posts too much - I don't think he has a huge amount of computer time. In all of those games he's been town, and in at least one he's used that same set of questions.

That said, if he is scum, he could be hoping for me to say this to get him in the clear. Still, best that you know.

Yeah, I need to work on posting more. I don't usually post anything unless I feel that I actually have something to say, so sometimes it makes me look a little inactive, especially at the beginning. Thats actually one of the reasons I like to get other people talking, because it gives me something to talk about, in addition to being generally good for the town.

I think magisterrain has given the town a fantastic opportunity. He may have roleclaimed a little too earlier (it seemed like Benmage may have been lynched without the roleclaim), but we are definately in a good position. I would hammer right now, but I would like Benmage to have a chance to respond first.

I still want to hear from T-Rex and Charrat. Who do you two think the other scum is?

I don't have any strong feelings about anyone at the moment. I might lean slightly towards T-Rex or Qwints for being relatively inactive and voting to lynch Vamp. But inactivity could be excusable since we just came off the holiday season. We just haven't had enough information to make any reasonable arguments against anyone.

Claim means to claim what role you are if it will help your case (and I suppose the town's case).
