It started as something I really thought might end the game, which I thought would be completely hilarious. (Look at the first note from the mod, its based from Cthulhu.) Thought the game might have a Cthulhu setting.

After that it was just a joke. I'm sad that the mod didn't make a funny note again in it this time.
