I'd really like to see a setup like this run. The usual argument against Jesters, that the town is punished for lynching someone "scummy", wouldn't hold as much weight since there are new tells, besides what is traditionally scummy, to look for. The Mimes are still an informed minority, just that instead of trying to avoid votes, they're trying to get them.Adel wrote:Paris Mafia
2 Mafia Goons
2 Mime Goons (Both mimes must die by lynching in order for the Mime Goons to win -- they share a NK)
2 Vigs
2 Cops
2 Townies
There would be Mafia trying to look like town or mimes. The Mimes would be trying to look like Mafia (trying to look like town) and probably trying to link themselves to who they think is scum. I can also imagine a situation where a Goon might want to claim (if both Goons are alive) to stop the final Mime being lynched. Bussing might actually be a Mime-tell.
I suggested a similar setup here a while ago that was more like a vanilla game (2:2:8) and was Nightless to stop Jesters/Mimes being nightkilled. Dunno how balanced the Adel's Paris setup is. Seems overly swingy at the moment..::][:::::][:::::][:::::][::.-

I like Jesters. The only thing I don't really know about is how an endgame with 1 Jester, 1 Scum, and 1 Town would work out, since it's really not possible for anyone to win unless if they go against their win condition. This is especially true in a Nightless setup, because the game can't end with No Lynch.
Adel, what happens in your setup if one of the mimes is vigged? As in, what happens to the other one, since he can't win then, right?-

Basically trying to use the swinginess of the vig and the doc to balance one another. Having the Doc's around give the vig investigative information if his kills don't go through dependent on the game state.-

Just pitching ideas here, would anyone be interested in a Lights-Out style game? For those that don't know, as many lynches as the town wants can be made during the day, and instead of voting to lynch, players can vote to end the day when they feel that they have lynched enough players. However, players' roles are not revealed until the end of the day.
Does anyone else find this interesting, or is it just me?Game Record (W-L-T)
Town: 1-2-1
Mafia: 1-2-0
Third-party: 1-0-0-

I think a lights out style game could be cool. Not sure if it fits the open rules.BlakAdder wrote:Just pitching ideas here, would anyone be interested in a Lights-Out style game? Not sure if it matters but the vig and mafia kills should have the same flavor.
Also another thing I like about this set up is that the town side tracker gets imperfect information at the start of the game which will resolve as mafia/power roles die. [/shameless plug]-

I would say no. This idea runs more like a theme game then open. Sorry BA.BlakAdder wrote:Just pitching ideas here, would anyone be interested in a Lights-Out style game? I like the mime idea. Can we do something so that a) all the town isn't destroyed in a bloodbath and b) that is acheived without making it impossible for the 2 Goons and easy for the 2 mimes.Adel wrote:Paris Mafia

Also what happens to mime #2 if mime#1 is NK'd. You then have a player with no possible win condition. Does he morph into a survivor? a SK?-

He turns into Gimbo. With no win condition, exists only to annoy and distract the other players for his own amusement.shaft.ed wrote:

I see your point about it being almost impossible for the mafia goons to win.
How about:
Paris Mafia
3 Mafia Goons
2 Mime Goons (Both mimes must die by lynching in order for the Mime Goons to win -- they share a NK)
2 Vigs
2 Cops
4 Townies
I like it being impossible for Mime #2 to win if Mime #1 is nk'd. He will still have a vote, a nk, be confirmed non-scum (unless he is counterclaimed) but he won't have a reason to play....
... unless he has developed a grudge against another player during the course of the game. If a mime is nk'd, suddenly a major part of the game will be a contest of scum vs. town to motivate the crying mime to help them win.
The role may help games remain civil. You never know if that immature jerk you are fighting with will turn out to be an survivor-mime whose only reason remaining for playing is to NKyou.
By being full of killing roles, the set up will make the game go quickly by. I expect that mimes could get really old really fast, and I'd hate for 7+ people to be stuck playing in a year long game ruined early on by those damn mimes.-

That alone is enough reason to run it.Adel wrote:The role may help games remain civil. You never know if that immature jerk you are fighting with will turn out to be an survivor-mime whose only reason remaining for playing is to NK you.
What I'm worried about now is the town seems to have the lynches to "waste" on the mimes. So the mimes just claim and get lynched. Could you have the town and scum win conditions based on the mimes not fulfilling their win condition such that if the mime's win it's game over?-

Not sure if anything like this has been posted before:
Uranium-238
2 Mafia
2 Doctors
3 Townies
The Mafia either kills by stabbing or by shooting (determined at the start of the game, remains constant through game)
One Doctor protects against stabbing, the other against shooting
If both Doctors target the same player, and that player is nightkilled by the Mafia, the player still dies
The kill method the Mafia uses is kept hidden until the end of the game (possible flavour being that the murders are crimes dealt with by the police, not civilians or doctors). Flavour for the Doctors (surgeons, really) is that each one is competent at treating a particular type of injury, but incompetent at anything else.
