This feels very apart from his scum play that I am used to. (Haven't had any personal experience with town!roden but have played with scum! Roden a few times.)

I only have that one scum game to go off and I'm not seeing anything that different contrary to Shrek.

Roden's attitude as scum to me is much more passive than he is acting this game.

Yes.
If you know enough about someone and how they act, you have a better idea of when they're acting off. That doesn't mean it's 100% accurate, but it's better than nothing. People change over time, but if you know them the change can be somewhat predictable. Meta isn't reliable enough to be the only thing to go off of, but it's a good tool to help

Everything that happens in a game gives some info, it's just how well we're able to understand the information we're given.
