So a friend of mine bought a copy of Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion to play a campaign with our group. We've played through the first four scenarios so far and the game is amazing! I never played any actual RPGs (don't know if Mansions of Madness or Pandemic Legacy Seasons 1&2 count), but this game is fun. It's relatively easy to play but the challenge is not bad at all. I actually heard of Gloomhaven, the big one for a long time but never played it because of its cost and commitment. While I can see it could be a problem to progress this game for a while, the price point is pretty good for the amount of game (I recall they have 25 scenarios ready but you won't be able to play some of them as part of some story decisions) and it makes me feel like playing an actual Tabletop RPG, something I think I would totally suck at.Embark the journey to life-changing fortune in Para{dice} Trinity: The Quest for Spirits' Fortune, a luck-based casual arcade Mish Mash game by Tatsuya Kaname!

just fyi, there are mods for gloomhaven on tabletop simulator that let you play it online for free (free if you already have tts, otherwise however much tts costs - I bought it for under $10 I think)-

So, for Christmas, I got a snazzy dice tower for my D&D addiction, also Dominion Adventures (Currently looking into getting Dominion since I don't have that yet).
Still have not played Cosmic Encounters, which I got last year for Christmas, and I also have a Justice League board game from my parents that I found cleaning up for them.
My fiancee got Avalon, Exploding Kittens and the expansion of Imploding Kittens, I still have not played Brass: Birmingham, either.
Basically, I have a long list of games to play...
Though, I did get to play Munchkin again, still a good game, would recommend.I've only made one good post, and don't you dare accuse me of doing it again.-

I sent my nephew Whitehall for Xmas and we played two games over Skype
realized part way through game 1 we had been playing it wrong this whole time
He really likes that game.
also got my niece Heul Doch, and watched the fam play that over Skype. Seem they enjoyed it.
Had ordered Colorful for her as well, but ended up ordering from an Amazon scammer, in the process of getting a refund.-

My niece apparently likes Hi Ho Cherry-Oh Mickey, by the way, but tries to cheat when Pluto is rolled. So, she still needs to learn rules.
I briefly heard they tried playing Enchanted Forest but it was apparently too advanced for a 3 year old.
I have not tried playing any non D&D table games through the internets.I've only made one good post, and don't you dare accuse me of doing it again.-

The pandemic has actually made our gaming group more reliable
"we" only managed 3 meetups over the previous year.
Now we do every other week, on a rotating schedule for who picks the game. We opted for TTS. Have a core of 4 that is reliable and a 5th that sometimes shows up
For the most part everyone has chosen something different each time they host, except the one guy who always chooses Carcasonne-

Just played Forbidden Sky for the first time. We got demolished on the easiest difficulty. But it was pretty fun; the strategy seems more nuanced than the first two games. It's always the same. When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die. You don't know whose children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken. How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they're always going to have to do from the very beginning... SIT DOWN AND TALK!-

You try reducing the difficulty level as you're getting better at Gloomhaven? In post 3794, brassherald wrote:I have proceeded to order Dominion.
Also, so far my fiancee and I are still really bad at Gloomhaven. We haven't played in a bit, but we keep nearly dying.YOUR AD HERE

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. It takes a minute to get used to card management and stuff. Playing a few easier scenarios can take that pressure off so you can do more strategic analysis to figure out what works for you and what doesn't.In post 3796, brassherald wrote:Yeah, I was thinking of low key halving our difficulty without telling her, tbh.
I also feel like having complimentary starting classes can help. Early game, I think you almost have to have someone play the Brute so you can do enough damage to win. Our first few games, we tried to play as the Tinkerer and Spellweaver, and it was a complete disaster.YOUR AD HERE
