"Hmm. John Smith, John Smith..."
On a hunch, Sherlock Holmes had spent the rest of the afternoon searching London's archives for John Smith. He remembered what Night Stalker had said to convince the crowd... The way he had addressed his attackers... There was definitely something familiar about Night Stalker.
Or was it just the name ?
And there were more than one John Smith...
As it happened, the wedding records of Sherlock's own grandparents established, without the shadow of a doubt, that the brides' father's name had also been John Smith.
But Murphy's law for genealogists had told him so - before he checked.
Sherlock puffed long and thoughtfully on his pipe.
"Hmmm. Murphy's laws. What do they teach us ?"
He remembered the joke of a German banker during a dinner in Berlin..."In einer Schlüsselposition jedes Stammbaums findet man unweigerlich einen John Smith aus London", the man had said.
So in every city... One should expect to find a John Smith from London at a key position... And that certainly included London itself !!!
Hmm.
Anyway - Murphy's Law was telling him that something had gone wrong.
Yes. He was convinced now. The town had lynched another innocent.
You have lynched John Smith, a townie. It is night. Please submit your choices by Thursday, 2:00PM, scum time.

A night to remember.
It had been the longest and most dreadful night in the history of the City. The streets were as black as Chinese ink, and a long moan, incredibly sad, could be heard somewhere in the distance - beyond the fog, perhaps ?
Hours, and hours, and hours. They had been sitting in that little room for hours, discussing the challenges ahead, sharing their hopes and fears, when the door suddenly opened.
And there he was. They had been waiting for him. And he had finally come.
'You know who I am, and you know why I'm here.'
They nodded and smiled.
*****
Murder in the cathedral ?
'What a cold night', the Duke of Kent thought to himself. He was walking fast - no time to lose, the documents had to be stored in a safe place.
It was well past 1:00 am when he reached the doors of the Grand Lodge's masonic temple near Oxford street. He searched for the massive keys in his pockets, and entered. And then he remembered: he had left his apron in one of the temple's cupboards. 'Without an apron, there is no mason', he thought.
He finally made his way to the temple's most secret chamber, and walked towards the altar. He would conceal the plans there...
'What's this ?' a voice asked.
'Wh... What ? WHO ARE YOU ? IGNORANT PROFANE, PUT IT DOWN !'
'Is it a compass ? Looks like a compass'.
'PUT IT DOWN AND LEAVE - NOW !'.
Alas. His apron, his sacred shield of defense, would not protect him this time. The compass found the flesh, the hand took the documents, and the righteous Duke of Kent met his fate near the altar.
*****
Moments later, an ominous figure walked out of the masonic Temple.
Harry Sutton was pleased, but his master would be even more pleased.
He would get a nice reward for the secret documents. And then he would find his sister, somewhere in the city. Maybe they could buy a house together ? Harry had always dreamed of having a family - but then again, his work did not really allow him to create a new family for himself, right ? So at least he would have his old family, or part of it.
And he would buy a dog too.
Speaking of dogs, there was this beautiful, dark dog, with magnificient red eyes, staring at him - just a few meters from him.
'I think he likes me', Harry thought.
'Nice dog. Nice', he said, as he approached the animal, smiling.
Green Crayons, the Duke Of Kent, mason, compassed to death in the Temple,
Quagmire, Harry Sutton, mafia, killed by the Hound.
It is now day - vote away !"We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire...Give us the tools and we will finish the job" - Sir Winston Churchill-

A mixed night. What was with the "Night to Remember" scene?
I finally updated my spreadsheet... and here's the dead totals:
(1) Hound mafia
(2) Moriarty mafia
(8) townies
(1) mason
(1) cop
BTW, I had "jadesmar" on my list, but no "Darkblade/Quagmire", I'm hoping they replaced him.
16 players left alive, out of 29... and only three mafia dead. We need some help.Anyhoo, why is it suspicious that I get confused with a mattress?

Alright, I looked over at least 15 pgs of the old stuff. Arminger, one of our early suspicions for lurking claimed he had no internet access. Then when he comes back he tells us sorry and that he'll come back with more information. THe most useful thing he wrote was:
How helpful was that? He only reconfirmed what we already knew, or figued out. And the next 10 pgs he contributed a joke and a short question about the roles and if all of them were in the stories.Arminger wrote:Ok, so it looks like we've got two mafia groups (the Stapleton/Hound group and the Moriarity/Moran group) and probably one SK (the knifeman). Anyone got any ideas for a character in the Sherlock Holmes novels/short stories that would fit for a SK?
It does look like the mafia groups have either been unlucky or perhaps just lazy with their choices (2 kills and 1 kill respectively over 3 nights), which is SO unfortunate.
He didn't really give us that contribution he promised. It's like lurking but popping up here and their to say he wasn't. No offense but Untrod Tripod hasn't helped or contributed much either.Vote Untrod Tripod.Ever wonder why that edit button is obnoxiously placed in the center like that? Yeah, that's cause of me.. and trust me, it's better off there.-

I smell something very scummy. (Good night, though, 1 mafia). Although I do not consider lurking as being that scummy (as Dourgrim taught me in mafia 56), I still think that only a sly SK remark and not much is also is evasion of confrontation.
Therefore

Simply because I'm new to the game and not wanting to do anything monumentally stupid means that I'm lurking? Apparently so. Just a simple FOS to Dourgrim for seeming very anxious to lynch me. Also, it's preposterous to think that since I'm not talking much, I must be mafia. Not having enough to say to warrant a post must mean that I'm scum, right guys?-

How does Dourgrim seem suspicious for wanting to lynch you fast. What makes you think he just went to that conclusion. I think I gave pretty good reasoning. If he was going by that, then what is so wrong with following my vote? I don't see it as rushing. The only thing I see in your statement is a possible way to distract attention from yourself.

NOt really. Arminger lurked for all 22 or w/e pages of the game promising better input. He never gave it. He only made small comments so that he might not be noticed. His time has run out.Ever wonder why that edit button is obnoxiously placed in the center like that? Yeah, that's cause of me.. and trust me, it's better off there.-

This isn't precisely true -- he started providing input with fury on the last day, drawing a bandwagon onto himself. I think the crash is the only thing that saved him from death. Because of all the suspicion surrounding him, it seems logical to me that he would have been chosen for investigation last night.Dragon Slayer wrote:Arminger lurked for all 22 or w/e pages of the game promising better input.
